I’ve been waiting for them to finally use different materials on the back of the iPad. I would be very excited to see what this looks like.

Nice addition. The current Apple Pencil reverse charging capability is awesome.

While a glass back might look sleek, it will also add quite a bit of weight to an iPad, which is not so welcome for a portable device, IMO.
Yea and I feel like it would make it more fragile, an iPhone 5 design would be the best

Why not? MagSafe would be great. Hopefully they never use OLED on Pro devices where color accuracy is important
How would it be great? How long would MagSafe take to charge a huge iPad battery? And how's the heat building up?

The only thing that made sense is to adopt the MacBook MagSafe, as that was designed for big battery charging. I guess that's possible.

Apple could use aerospace aluminum glass for the back for wireless charging.

Or they could put it in the magic keyboard case. Which would be my preferred method if they can efficiently have the wireless charging coil hidden in the magic keyboard case and power it thru the smart connector
I’d reckon the price of iPad Pro of that generation would be $1000 more expensive.

Just like what I thought, Apple is hating ports with passion. And they are likely going to remove that thunderbolt port on iPad soon enough. What’s next? Wireless charging MacBook Pro with zero port?
The story goes more and more ridiculous the further we move down the road. But, who knows. If Apple can somehow manufacture the back of iPad in a highly advanced manner that power can sip through the case, which enables wireless charging, that’d be yet another evolutionary moment.

There will be no difference. You already can buy a 3rd party 20 pin "MagSafe" adapter capable for PD and high current for iPad Pro.

Next Gen iPads will mean nothing to me...

depending on what Apole is going to do about iOS hamstringing the iPad this coming WWDC.

I wonder why Apple would need to eliminate the ports on an iPad. It is not that they struggle to fit it in, especially considering that iPads have been increasing in size over the years. IMO, the current wireless charging is an energy-wasting and overheating gimmick, thus resulting in overall slower charging speed and degrading the battery’s lifespan. Not good.

While compatibility with MagSafe could definitely come in handy, I don’t think it’s worth having a glass back. It’s one thing with a phone, but a glass backed iPad Pro is would be pretty terrible.

If they can add wireless charging without a glass back I’m all for it. I personally wouldn’t use it a whole lot, but it’d be nice for it to share iPhone’s MagSafe when a USB-C cable isn’t handy.

Glass back will be a nice change. Hope apple brings some new colours to the Pro iPads. Wireless charging will take a long time especially with the large capacity of iPad battery. Reverse wireless charging will be good to have.

This is so unnecessary. Imagine putting your 12.9 inch iPad on a wireless charging stand. The guy with first comment is a sucker if he’s actually excited about this.

now if they can get ipad pro to charge at higher wattage like 30-60watt from say a MacBook Charger then I’m listening.

Why doesn't Apple design the Apple Logo as the part used for wireless charging? Thus the product will be much more delicate

I found out these iPads put out more RF Radiation than sitting at your iMac all day.
Macbook = 800
AirPort Extreme =600
iMac = 400
iPad = 500
Mac mini =200.

For people with Cancer or not wanting to get Cancer this is bad.

Some Day you'll care. when Cancer hits you.

I;m going with the Mac mini when the M1x model comes out.

That’s from 2018, du you have any recent numbers?
