some poll results:
This statement is silly.
.... SNIP ....
Otherwise Android.
According to their sources, the new iPhone will be 4G LTE compatible, as expected.
And I will say it again..
If Apple released a 4in+ iPhone, everyone in this thread and others complaining about larger screen size would be the first people to purchase one. It silly to think that you wouldn't want a larger screen(which may or may not mean a larger phone)
For instance I have an iPhone 4s and a galaxy nexus, and the galaxy nexus fits in my pockets better than my iPhone! Why? Because of the form factor on the nexus has rounded corners and tapered edges, it allows me to slip it in my pocket easier.
iphone has sharper edges and you can see the entire phone in my pocket from a short distance away.
I also cannot believe that people are buying the iPhone because the screen is 3.5in? They are buying the phone because of the OS, Apps, a familiarity.
And I will say it again..

0.2% of iPhones sold...last quarter. hehe
The internet forums are not indicative of what the masses want, I don't think!
And those who actually want the bigger phone: 0.08% of iPhones sold last quarter hehe
people don't hate bigger screens. They like the current size screen
All polls are samples. These are likely mostly core Apple fans or why would they visit such forums to begin with. It think the poll is accurate.
A5X with LTE. Nothing else. I can't see them upgrading the screen.
I would prefer dual A15 cores but I think they'll use the same chip as the new iPad. LTE in the form of the new Qualcomm modem.
It's about time, because my Verizon 4S kills me when it's running on 3G. I came from an LTE Android phone.
Please give us better battery life. My 4S never breaks 15 hours.

is that the new iPhone in your pocket or are you happy to see me?
If Apple isn't making the phone you want, then the only other choice is to buy a phone from anouther manufacturer. I have no idea whether Apple will build an iPhone with a larger screen or not. I'm reasoning from Apple's history that they wont. Once Apple hits on what they consider to be an iconic design (like the current iMac) they tend to stay with it for many years.
You really can't base any arguments on a 7 inch iPad untill Apple actually makes one.
Apple has a best selling product to solve the problem of aging eyes. It's called an iPad. Makes a 4" display look unreadably stupidly small to those with bad eyes.
For those with decent eyes, or good-enough glasses (bi/trifocals in some cases), an iPhone is pocketable and usable one-handed, and about as large as possible for such. If not, get an iPad and a dumb phone.
I agree that A5X and LTE will be the only upgrades. The screen will stay the same IMO.
Forgive me if this has been asked, but this forum has tons of comments and I haven't sat and read every single page.
Couldn't the iPhone have a bigger screen and developers not have to make new apps?
For example, Safari on an 11" MacBook Air compared to a 13" MacBook Air has one advantage: You get more webpage.
You can also jailbreak an iPad and make it run iPhone-sized apps full screen, like so many Android tablets do to Android apps. Though I guess Apple didn't want a shoddy user experience so created the 1x and 2x views we're used to.
So, the main advantage of a larger screen on a sixth-gen iPhone would be a bigger window into your content?
Using the A5X makes no since at all if the screen size does not change. The A5X has only increased gpu power to push the massive amount of pixels in the ipad 3. I highly doubt Apple would double the pixels on a 3.5 inch display. Just makes no sense at all to introduce a power hungry chip if you already have a retina display in the 3.5 inch form factor. I only see the A5X used if Apple increases the screen size and doubles the pixels to retain their retina classification.
+1 on this. My android phone has a 4.3" screen as well, and I"m able to control it with one hand very easily. I was hoping for a least a 4" screen, if not I guess my LTE phone, with a 4.3 inch screen will have to do.
I was already considering it, but Samsung galaxy SIII here i come.
4.7 inch Super AMOLED 1280x720
12MP camera / 1080p Video 60 FPS
Quad core 1.5GHZ
125 grams / 8mm
iPhone is getting left behind.
Wirelessly posted
I will reiterate apple spent years deciding on the iPhone screen size while other companies spent minutes deciding to make theirs bigger.
I use my iPhone all day every day and the screen size is good. I certainly would not want the form factor jeopardized at all for a bigger screen.
For people who want to carry around unwieldly devices there is the note.
So are you saying that if apple released a 4in+ iPhone, you would not get it? I find this hard to believe..![]()
I'd get it. But I'd be as happy about it as the people who got the 3.5" phone who decided overall having iOS was more important than their want of a bigger screen (except I'd want it to be a smaller screen vs. a bigger).
Was looking at phones yesterday to judge sizes and I still stand by 4" is the absolute max I'd want the iphone to be and I'd still prefer it to be smaller honestly. But I'd still buy the new iPhone long as they kept it 4" or smaller (admittedly I'd be even more unhappy though if they made it smaller than 3.5". To me it really is a good size, small enough to be really pocketable and not take too much room in my purse but the screen is big enough to be usable). And honestly, the 4" screen on the phone I looked at didn't really seem to be all that noticeable of improvement on screen real estate over my 3.5". It really didn't seem like it would give me any good benefit for the trade off.
And at 4.6" I'd be really unhappy cause I am wanting something with a faster processor than my iPhone 4 (it's starting to feel pretty laggy honestly) but I really would not want a phone that big. Honestly, if they kept the same processor as the 4s, that would make the decision easy for me, especially if the screen really was the one big upgrade (cause Apple doesn't tend to change too much at once).
