With rumours pointing to 2 iPhone X’s coming out next, the current size and the larger one I was thinking, for those of you with the X currently, do you think a larger phone/screen with the X display would be manageable or too big?

I got to see an X a few days ago for first time and had a go of using of it, I enjoyed the size a lot more than I thought, small enough size wise to handle one handed, but with the edge to edge display big enough to make the most of I felt.

But I was thinking about a larger X coming out and if that might just be too big to handle? What do those who have used the current X a lot more than I have on a day to day basis think? Also I can’t see how they would be able to bring reachabilty to the bigger display either

I had the Galaxy S8+ for a while and while it was a monster, it still felt the same comparing the S8 and the S8+ the same way people compare the 8 and 8 Plus.

If you find the 8 Plus too big, you'd probably find an X+ too big. If you're like me, and you love how big the 8 Plus is, you'd love how big a potential X+ could be.

Regardless, the next one better come in the beautiful Gold from the 8 family.

Why do people feel the "need" for a bigger screen iPhone? Bigger screens mean more weight and oversize devices. Things many people complain about... makes no sense.

Some people like it. Bigger phone means bigger battery, and some people (like me) like the weight of the device. It makes it feel super solid and not like it's going to snap in half.

Some want a bigger battery (longer life)
Some want the screen real estate for viewing movies/YouTube etc.
Some want to show it to their Android friends

Lots of reasons I guess, but none that really appeal to me
My battery lasts all day, and would probably last 2 full days without a charge
I don't watch movies or YouTube

The iPhone 7's current weight is good enough. Bigger batteries are not always better if the tech behind them is bad or if the chips in them consume extra power. So I fail to see that point. Apple is known for that latter point. The iPhone X battery got bigger, but it slightly outperforms in battery life the iPhone 7 or 8.

Agreed on your second paragraph.

I would not get the x plus. I like my regular x and if the new one doesn’t have drastic changes I’ll keep the one I got.

Why do people feel the "need" for a bigger screen iPhone? .

For different viewing experiences And or higher resolution displays.

Bigger screens mean more weight and oversize devices. Things many people complain abo.

And there are those who have no issue with a larger iPhone with the added weight, because they accept the fact of what it has to offer and for those who want the larger display and bigger battery, the sacrifice would be worth it to some. And for those who make the conscious decision for a larger iPhone, generally don't complain about it either.

makes no sense.

It's a matter differences. To you it doesn't, to others it does make sense for a larger iPhone.

I had the 6S plus and the 7 plus. It’s my understanding that the new larger X would be similar in overall size.

I was very happy to “downsize” to the X as the plus sizes really became cumbersome to me a a lot of the time.

I suppose you should never say never, but as of now, I don’t miss the extra size and can’t see myself going back to a larger size.

My 8 Plus is a brick, as were all of the Plus sized iPhones I’ve owned. But the X was a heavy little beast. I felt a real difference in the weight between that steel and glass X and my aluminum 7 Plus.

If the overall design and materials are the same, a Plus version of the X would make a nice weight to work out with! :D

I tried out one silver and one gray x. Had to return both. Too heavy. Too thick. From drug dealers to aeronautical engineers, every gram counts.

Give me a lighter weight, thinner and aluminum bodied iPhone X and I’m so in. Else I’ll stick with my iPhone 7 that doesn’t force me to use a case or give Apple Apple care money.

I refuse to use cases ever. Looks horrible. Feels horrible. Glass is a stupid material to use on a device you carry around everywhere.

I like the size of my X. I primarily use it one handed but truth is it’s a two handed device. One of my biggest regrets as an iPhone enthusiast is not giving any of the plus models a try so I think I’m going try the X plus if it is released.

Side note: Has anybody noticed some iPhone X’s are heavier than others? Is it even possible?

I’d have a tough time going for the bigger model. I preferred the 6/6S/7/8 size but I went with the plus for the higher res, better battery life and camera. All things the X+ would have probably, but with the X being 5.8 already, I don’t think it’s gonna sway me this time.

I don’t think there will be a bigger plus version of the x it’s likely to get a new name it’s likely to be called XI as it’s the next number in Roman scale

I have the 7 + and absolutely love it. The screen size is "perfect" for me which is one reason why I didn't upgrade this year. The 8 is basically the same phone and I didn't like the size of the X or the "notch".

For this very reason is why basically every manufacturer will have "options" for their consumers.

For me I love the 8 Plus but sometimes it is just a bit too big when using it at times

I’m not sure what i’ll Do, wait and see what’s announced, and if the larger device is announced see what they plan to do in regards to things like reach ability etc

I think the current iPhone X is the perfect size. The only way I would choose a X Plus would be if Apple differentiated the two sizes by adding a better camera or some other added feature on the bigger model. Like they did with the 6S Plus, 7 Plus and 8 Plus. If both new models end up with the same specs other than screen resolution and battery differences then I will stick with the 5.8 size. But I will still have to see both in person for comparison before I really make a choice then. I didn't mind the size of the plus models when I had them though.

The iPhone 7's current weight is good enough.

So because it's good enough for you, it's automatically what everyone else wants? You're not the center of the universe.

Bigger batteries are not always better if the tech behind them is bad or if the chips in them consume extra power. So I fail to see that point. Apple is known for that latter point.

What? No they aren't. In fact Apple is known for the constant improvement in efficiency with all their products and they continue to get better battery performance *despite* having lower overall battery sizes and even reducing the mAh the last few cycles in their products.

The iPhone X battery got bigger, but it slightly outperforms in battery life the iPhone 7 or 8.

Yeah, and the 7 Plus and 8 Plus have on average the same or longer battery lives than the X. Your point?

What's wrong with people wanting a bigger phone. Just because you don't want it or think it should happen, you're the supreme authority on that decision?
