Are you sure about the battery being new? hmmmmmmmm DAMN! I think the rep just ripped me off and told me that: "oh... I don't think you'll want an used battery for this toy, once the battery dies then you'll have to get a new phone."

By the way, the rep told me that a refurbished iPhone only has 90 days of warranty. Not 1 yr.

I don't mean to flame anyone, sorry if you took it that way. The AT&T guys don't know anymore than educated forum/blog readers.

If the rumors hold true, there would be an updated camera, faster internet, and probably thinner form factor as well as increases in memory.

1) My girl she doesn't want the $30 internet access... I was told by my friend that I can cancel that once I get the phone, but the rep from AT&T told me that if I try to cancel that, AT&T will add that service back on w/o telling us... so who's true?
2) does the $30 internet access plan include umlimited text msgs?

Thanks!! ya I am qualified for the premier member... I just sign up for that on ATT's site for the statement discount... I doubt I'll add the $8.99 SMS... I was asking because we cancel SMS like last year and now we just upgraded to iPhone..5 mins ago I just got a SMS from AT&T, or is it only AT&T that can send us SMS? I really don't want to make my bill high because of the SMS. I want me SMS plan stay canceled.

1) no, you just signed a contract that includes a data plan. Its kind of required

2) no, there's a separate charge for SMS, depending on what you chose. The most popular is the 5 dollar a month for 200 sms messages.

The software update will nto improve picture quality. That post was full of misrepresentations of the iPhone and it's capabilities. The Russian site was just looking to generate some traffic.

No offense intended, it's obivous you're only reading what you want on the forums; my suggestion is to read and understand what information has been presented to you. If you had read more than 3 posts in that thread you would have learned the details behind the "poor" quality of the pictures.

You also have been oblivious to what has been posted here. It's like you have your mind made up and you're looking for justification. There's nothing wrong with buying the current model, if that's the one you want.

Don't be mad when v3 gets announced in 30 days and comes out in 45-60 days.

If you remove the data feature for the iphone then it will be added right back on. As long as the Iphone IMEI number is on your acct you will have to have the data plan on there. It is part of the subsidized pricing agreement when you buy the iphone. Why do u think you can purchase the iphones for $199 and $299 instead of $499 and $599.

Refurbished iPhones come with the same 1 year warranty from APPLE that a new iPhone comes with but it also comes with a 90 day warranty from AT&T also. A refurbished iPhone has EVERYTHING new EXCEPT the hard drive. They completely wipe the hard drive and test it's quality to make sure it's LIKE NEW then replace the battery, casing, LCD, glass and everything else.

Take those back RIGHT NOW and say you want refurbished and kick the rep in the nuts ( or ovaries ) for lying to you.

1) It has nothing to do with commission, it has to do with them tracking the data plans on iPhones. And they shouldn't charge you anything if you bring it back, you have 30 days. If they try to charge you anything cancel your service and go to another AT&T store and buy it there from another rep or do it online through AT&T Premier.

true.. So I am going to cancel my girls internet service later and see if I'll see the $30 on my 1st statement. But the statement won't come until 1 month later... Isn't it too late to cancel my service?
Right now I am thinking if I should return both iPhones tomorrow and get the refurbed ones... It would save me $200

You have 30 days to change your mind, yes you would save $200. If they give you any crap when you go in be a man about it and make it known how pissed you are that you were decieved and that they need to right this wrong. Don't forget, they're salesmen... That means they're slightly more credible than a politician.

Hey if you can cancel your data plan more power to you, but can I ask why did you buy the iPhone, why not just a normal phone since you don't want the data portion. The main strength imo is the ability to be online and while you still have wifi, finding and using wifi when you're out and about will be spotty at best.

yup 1/2 of my friends does not have the Data plan for AT&T, some of us rarely use the Data plan, we just need Wi-Fi, we work in Manhattan and take subway and then home so its 90% useless on weekdays, but I am keeping the data plan just for the hell of it incase I go for a trip haha. Ya I am going to try to cancel my girls data and will keep you guys updated.. my friend said that you should say that you lost the phone to the rep.

It would work with the exception that they run tests randomly to see what device their customers are using. When they see that your girl is using an iPhone they'll add the data plan back on to her line.
