Yes but will the M2 have a higher single core processor speed? If so might be worth me waiting for next year to finally upgrade. My 2018 MBP is still doing the trick for now.

How did they make an iPad with tiny bezels and no notch but the laptops have on? So dumb!! I may buy the previous model year. Was expecting to buy a new iPhone, Watch, MacBook, and iMac this year but so far it's been nothing but disappointments and probably won't be buying any new Apple products this year.

All I want is 16GB RAM as a preconfigured base model. Please Apple, there are people who needs those RAM, but have zero needs for a $2000 MacBook Pro. A $1500 laptop should at least have more RAM than a phone.

Everything else is icing on the cake. The only worse thing is waiting for this. Late 2022 will be a long time.

The iPad bezels are there for the hand to hold it without grabbing the touch area. There's no need for this on a laptop. The notch is there imo as a prep to put FaceID. Once that happens, people will already be used to the notch and Apple can focus on marketing the FaceID instead of having to explain the notch.

Absolutely not for me. I won’t tolerate white bezels and a notch no matter how fast and new the machine is.

Patsy: ‘Eddy look, can I get away with this notch?’
Eddy: ‘Only in LA, darling.’

If the colors are the bold colors on the iMacs, awesome. If the colors have a bunch of the more pastel colors… less awesome. I’ve wanted a red MacBook for a while but not if a large chunk of it is pink.

I think the Air is my next portable. We’ll see. Super interested in the next iMacs though. 27” with an M1 Max would be sweet.

Yes. 'Macbook'.

Just 'Macbook'.

Apple's Macbook lineup will finally make sense - for the first time in many years.

Totally agree. It was especially weird when the Retina MacBook was smaller and lighter than the Airs.

I actually really liked that form factor. It’d be sweet if these machines come in two sizes or something closer to the 12” footprint.

I think it might be nice. Heck, I'm sitting here typing on a 2012 Macbook Air with SILVER bezels and it doesn't bother me one bit. I actually like the lighter shade. Similar to the hoopla around the M1 iMac white bezels, I doubt this will be a big deal and they'll sell a ton of them.

I'll take mine in silver please.

Why tf many people bashing about the white bezel??

Not too long ago about everybody in the school had the white MacBook and I never heard any complain ever about the color of the bezel.

Why now it is not ok?

And is off white really that different from aluminium bezel that about 50 millions MBA have?

This new Macbook is - clearly - for casual users.

Imagine someone who is fashion-conscious, more likely female, and they want a stylish machine that they can use in coffee shops and open plan office areas.

No one is going to buy this for hardcore video editing sessions.
Hum… i think you should redefine « casual user ».

Im really not a casual user, and yet I do have a 2013 MBA that is mostly enough for all my needs.

I've seen it said that the M1 MBA will remain in the lineup for $999 whereas the new M2 MBA will be $1299.

I just wonder what they'll do with the 13MBP. Surely they'll get rid of it.
My guess is they will keep 13" M1 MBA for $999, add newly designed 14" M2 Macbook (Air) for $1299 8/256 GB and maybe turn 13" MBP into 14" M2 MBP mini-LED w/ or w/o Promotion in 2021 MBP chassis maybe just 2 Thunderbolts and Magsafe for $1599 16/256 GB. We'll see.

I don't think it will happen.

Apple charges $200 to go from 8GB to 16GB on the Air and mini, and charges $400 from 16GB to 32GB on the Pro.

If there is a MacBook Air M2 with 32GB, it will cost an extra $600.

That’s fine with me. I’m looking forward to a 14” M2 MBP sans the HDMI port. I currently have the M1 MBP and will hold onto it purely for the battery life and the fact that the new M1 Pro/Max’s have ports that I don’t need.

I liked the white MacBook design that came after the clamshell model. I think these models would be really nice but a white notch would be difficult to hide compared to a black.

What would make sense most I think is if 2022 new colour design would be called Macbook. And in 2023 there would be finally new redesigned Macbook Air this time with mini-LED display around 12.5" in the compact size of previous Macbook 12" with wedged design in silver, gray, gold, rose gold. That's laptop I would want.
