Why? Surely it will be the usb 4.0 version of usb-c. Sure there are still some advantages that tb holds, but usb-c is not terribleThis is terrible news, no thunderbolt.

In my honest opinion, when I saw the iMac during the Keynote my instant thought was ‘Ugggghhhh that looks absolutely awful!’Actually, I can't readily go to an Apple store.
2 hours 12 minutes to get there and likely longer for return. Approximately nine litres of petrol each way.
That is a big investment just to see what the spill is like.
Fully agreed. I saw a purple device the other day (not in an Apple store) - not my choice but far, far nicer in reality than on screen. Just expensive, time-taking, environmentally unfriendly, ...In my honest opinion, when I saw the iMac during the Keynote my instant thought was ‘Ugggghhhh that looks absolutely awful!’
But since then I have been to look at it in store and I can honestly say it looks much better in person! The bezel just sort of disappears when your using the computer it’s hard to describe.
Right next to the new iMac was an old design one with the black bezels and it just looked very dated, dull and un-welcoming.
It’s 100% worth seeing in person IMO.
That is impossible, that would interfere too much in the colors your are looking at the screen, so you will never see that in a computer (maybe at kids / toy computers)If Apple doesn’t want to make the bezels black, then it would be better to make it the color of the MBA. So a blue MBA would have blue bezels.
I give it a 0% chance that there will be a white notch… Apple ditched the white bezels on the iPhone as soon as they introduced the notch… Just too obstructing!
Particularly on the MB Air, that people use to watch Netflix etc, a white bnotch that extends into the black bars of a widescreen movie ist just… No…
Yeah, I will be able to get the boring silver version I'm sure. But with white bezels. Now I have the boring space grey version so I'm not sure why the assumption that I have the silver version. Maybe you're angry and can't regulate your emotions. I will also get the boring new iPhone that it's the same thing year after year. Probably as you do too. That sounds more like your issue than Apple’s. I’m sure you’ll be able to get that boring ass silver version as well as the different colors.
I have to disagree, the new iMac looks really nice in person but it is all down to personal preference I suppose. The white bezels on the new iMac look terrible in person. It's made worse by the fact that there is a black line all round the screen between the display and the bezel. This will be worse on this MacBook as you will have the case material as a border as well. So it will be a crazy stripy mess of light screen > dark border > light bezel > coloured aluminium case. All this will be made even worse by an off-white notch... Horrible! This is what you get when you design by committee.
I didn't realise Apple would lose their minimalist design skills so quickly after Johnny Ive left.
We've come full circle... PC's are now sleek thin and minimalist ...and Macs are chunky and beige (sorry off-white).
Yeah the rumour mill has been extremely bad lately, and personally I feel the notch rumour was purposely leaked to soften the blow amongst the Apple fans… hearing about it literally days before the event let’s it set in before the rumour becomes reality, yet again great marketing tac tics by Apple.Since Apple has publicly stated they wanted to stop the rumors' from leaking, it's been really hard to trust any leakers moving forward. Even "trusted sources" and "good track record" people.
Some of the rumors were completely wrong. Watch series 7 comes to mind (with flat edges) and since the notch on the MBP's were last-minute. It seems plausible that Apple is seeding true and false information everywhere to track down the internal leak/leakers.
I for one, am going to wait until Apple officially announces anything before jumping to any kind of conclusion now.
Have a feeling this MacBook will be beautiful and colorful fun. Not sure about the notch though lol.Sounds like current M1 Air and 13 M1 Pro is a good investment for mac users to survive till Apple get rid of notches and white bezels in 4-5 years again. Buy as long you can!
Part of the problem will be depth, the display on a MacBook is a lot thinner than an iPhone. Why can’t they just use the same components as an iPhone? They would fit into a narrow bezel.
Exactly, so many are talking about the new iMac and this rumoured MacBook as though it would be the first time a Mac display had a white border. ALL laptops they weren’t black used to have silver or white borders!![]()
to be honest, this was one cool design! I don't get why people get upset about the white bezels
Yeah there was a bit of a premium, though I think it had a higher base spec so might have evened out.True. It was a cool design.
People also loved the black Macbook. Blackbook!
Didn't Apple charge more money for the black model? Maybe that was part of the appeal.

White bezels are terrible. No way Apple put both a notch and white bezels in the next MBA
Umm.. the white bezel and the small black hole will no look bad. Do you understand anything about design? This is a basic that we learn from the first year. Small black on white canvas. But there will be no hiding the dark "hole punch" camera in that strip of white. Make the menu bar off-white with black polka-dots ever so many pixels so the camera seems to be one of dots?![]()
I can’t tell you about all of Europe, but in Melbourne (Australia), there’s a public high school in a not-very-wealthy area that is a “Mac” school. They use Macs, and ask students to use Macs. They won’t (officially) support Windows laptops.I see... thank you.
So I gotta ask... are $999 Macbook Airs a common thing in European primary and secondary schools? Are there a lot of 9 year olds with school-issued Macbooks?
I would say that MacOS laptops are rather expensive to give to schoolchildren. Anywhere.
The whole reason I replied to the comment earlier was because the poster made the claim that Apple abandoning the $999 Macbook Air would "be suicide for their education market"
And to me the education market is K-12.
In the US... the education market is full of Chromebooks.
In Europe... the education market is full of _______?
(you fill in the blank)
The EU (European Union) is not the same as the USA. They are a Union of many different Countries, governments, cultures, and economic levels.I see... thank you.

Hum, movie are most often 16:9, screen is 16:10, no problem there (but yeah white notch would be more visible than black )I'm not a notch freak-outer but full screen movies … hmmm …
I honestly didn't catch that,I have to disagree, the new iMac looks really nice in person but it is all down to personal preference I suppose.

Apple are obviously playing the rumour game themselves now as when the AirPods 3 was being showcased the ‘Rumours’ song was perfectly fitting ?
White bezels? No wedge? Snap up the current Air while you can! It's still the best value in my opinion.
lol I remember !!!!! I wanted the dark one but could only afford the white one as a student!True. It was a cool design.

Will have to see the behavior in the 14/16” MacBook Pro. My guess is that it will behave like a full screen app, ie the movie will be under the notch, not over it. So you won’t be missing anything.I'm not a notch freak-outer but full screen movies … hmmm …
