Now if it could just come in a 32GB Ram option this would be my dream machine. I don’t need the extra processing power of the Pro/Max version, but more RAM would be really useful for coding.

I like a notch - it'll go with the ones on my bedpost! ☺️

Anyway, it sounds like it's going to be the perfect replacement to my ageing 2014 Air...
And my 2013 MBP. The new Pro is way more powerful than i need. If the current model had MagSafe, I’d have bought already

If we get a new MBA in the spring, I don’t expect to see a BRAND NEW processor. We might see a bump to the original M1, but not a significant increase. We might see the long-rumored M1X at that time, essentially a spec bump similar to iPhones every year: a little faster, (big) maybe a small GPU bump, and perhaps greater RAM capacity. But I would bet just some small speed improvement and nothing more.

As to the rumored design? Maybe they’ll offer a space gray. I dislike white and candy colored computers. Unlike the iMac, professionals can still use an MBA for a lot of things, especially as a light weight supplemental computer. No one really wants to go into a pitch meeting with a bright orange computer. However, Apple might see the 13 inch Pro as the computer for pros that don’t need an M1 Pro or Max. We’ll see.

White bezels and keyboard, no "wedge shape"? WHY??? :(

Apple needs something to justify the cheap price for such a powerful machine. After all, sounds like it will be the first Mac to feature an M2 chip?

Colour can be a nice differentiator. Blacks and silvers for Pro machines, white and bright colours for Airs and iMacs.

This new Macbook is - clearly - for casual users.

Imagine someone who is fashion-conscious, more likely female, and they want a stylish machine that they can use in coffee shops and open plan office areas.

No one is going to buy this for hardcore video editing sessions.
Casual misogyny aside, what about people who "want a stylish machine" would make you think those are the types of users who are MORE likely to want an ugly white bezel?

If it is powerful enough and is at least as colorful as the iMacs, gives us options for 32GB of RAM and 2TB of storage, I think it's going to be my next system even though I said I won't buy another laptop.
Unless of course they release new iMacs or Mac Mini with these.
And of course if I have the money.

can they also call it just "macbook"? I loved the white macbook and have no problem with white bezels and keyboard :)

MagSafe??? YUK!!!

Seriously though, MagSafe is completely unnecessary, especially with USB-C Power Delivery going up to 240W in the latest spec.

It's just another ridiculous Apple proprietary connector. Lightning all over again!
Apparently you have no idea about the need for MagSafe... When you do, you will understand.

BTW, the other end of the connector has a USB-C connector, and the Power Adapter is USB-C.

I am a man. I am a male too. I am not fashion-conscious as the last time I bought any clothing was 7 years ago and that was just the same style as the previous time I bought clothing 20 years ago.
I don't like coffee shops and thankfully I don't work in any office area.

I do video editing. This machine with a 2TB drive and 32GB of RAM would be awesome for almost all editing needs.
I WANT color options.

Apple will announce a white notch and you’ll all yell to protest in the streets. The YouTube reviews will come out praising the white and you’ll all be switching your tune like that Cybertruck announcement. All of a sudden the white notch grew on everyone. It’s edgy. It’s different. It disappears into my white wall. “ I love how the white notch blends in with my white toolbar. It all looks borderless”

they wouldn't care about the color of the bezel per-se. they would care that it matches the keyboard and "is different and stands out". and it wasn't specifically misogynistic either, simply said more likely female. and the colors, kids would also love these things. its for the casual user for sure IF the rumors are true.

Bwahaha! Ridiculous notch. Soon to be phased out - Next year on the iPhone, 2 years later, so by iteration 3, on the MBP and, 3/4 iterations on the MBAir. Apple just wants your money. It's a business model - they want your money now, you are desperate for a new Mac, and then desperate for no notch.

The questions that immediately comes to my mind is whether they can maintain current pricing in the face of so many changes.
