URGH! Wishful thinking. It does not work in the UK with a Barclays debit card, though I haven't tried using a UK Barclaycard.

I really want Apple Pay now and I don't think it ever looks good just releasing a major new feature in one country. Though I know this period of testing and staggered release is necessary. I just feel Apple could have made more banks on board, internationally, before release. I just really fear we're looking at another iTunes Radio case and the rest of the world won't see Apple Pay for years.

USAA debit and credit cards works with Apple Pay as of this morning.. I was able to add mine..

Mine worked. I have the White/Gray/Orange PNC Logo Virtual Wallet Debit Card (albeit, no longer have the Virtual Wallet account) but it just shows the generic all orange PNC Debit card on Passbook.

Yeah a friends worked as well.. I have the Pittsburgh Steelers logo debit card, it doesn't even have Tap to pay... wonder if thats why?

Guess I will have to wait until PNC's website says that support is live before I call and complain.

EDIT... PNC's website says apple pay is now live. I guess I will have to call after lunch.

That was going to happen with, or without Apple Pay. It's just a really stupid, clunky system and doomed from day one.

Actually, I think it's specially stupid paying up to 3% in taxes by stacking multiple payment methods, i.e., your credit card provider + your bank + apple pay. If it wasn't enough paying taxes to the government...

I think there is some verification that happens in the background for people when "it just works." But if the verification fails for some reason, then you have to call and verify. For instance is the address you have for yourself in your phone the same as your billing address? Is your iPhone phone number the same as one that the bank may have on file, etc? I think this sort of info is passed when the card is first set up and if there is any disagreement, then you have to call.

Problem is it wants my telephone pin code. I do not have one, never used it, just a ATM pin code and my login to online banking. So then I get shunted to a menu option nothing about verify. Maybe I will just test it. This is getting to not be simple.....

I emailed my regional bank about a week ago (Farmington Bank) and they emailed right back and said "we know technology is important to our customers and that they are currently working with Apple to get Apple Pay working with their debit cards." Wasn't in this rollout, but hopefully by years end.

I went in to my main branch and they had no idea what I was talking about. I email and received a similar response with the ambiguous time frame of "in time for holiday shopping". I'm just about ready to go with a major bank instead of Regions which operates in 11 states with 18,000+ locations (you would think that would be major bank status - but it's not).

I always wonder whether MacRumors utilizes the tips I send in and just completely fails to mention me, or if I just happen to send in my tip a few minutes before they post the article.

In this case, I sent in a tip via email at 10:30 AM (although my tip was only regarding Navy Federal - I didn't know whether the other banks were also going live with Apple Pay or not), and they posted this article 23 minutes later at 10:53.

Always happy to mention tipsters, so please keep submitting. In this case, the first tip about Navy Federal came in anonymously at 9:20 Eastern time, but it took a while to pull everything together and verify what other banks were going live.

my pnc debit card does not seem to be working. I keep getting an error that says invalid information.

No support yet for First National Bank Omaha. Only information I can find gives the vague timeline of "in the coming weeks".

It's too bad... I'm trying to avoid using my Barclaycard until I have my Mac paid off.

There is banking "stuff" that has to happen - from reading there are some differences between the US system with bank debits and regular credit cards. I don't think the same system will be able to be "plopped down" and implemented.

For instance, our debit cards for our checking accounts are almost all Visa/MC branded cards. They use that network for authorization.

Soooo, basically, I'm not surprised at the US rollout, but I imagine talks and consults are going on to get it rolled out worldwide asap. Especially since you guys have a better infrastructure than us for supporting it on the merchant side!

Barclay Card

Just chiming in.. My BarclayCard added successfully today without any sort of verification needed.

I do find one thing funny. In the Apple Way, the card is pure white (I got this card when I bought a MBP about 5 years back); I don't know if all their cards are pure white.

Since the card is pure white, the camera feature (which is really cool on other cards) can't read the numbers and they have to be typed in.

Design > function

Um, we don't pay the 3% as taxes. It is supposedly built into the sales price. Nothing is added to a purchase for credit cards fees, just state and local taxes. Here in my area is 7%.

The merchants pay the 3% of sales based on the charges they use the networks for.

The bigger screen and Navy Federal's acceptance of Apple Pay are the reasons I'm coming back to the iPhone from Android. My 6-plus left Shanghai about 8 hours ago, scheduled for delivery in three days. I've missed my iPhone....

How did you add your Best Buy loyalty card into the app? When I scan mine it says no entry is available.

It then says "you can only scan passes", when the text right on the button that ow can add loyalty cards - which isn't very clear.

I don't know what good it does to have more banks come on board if the retailers don't support it.

Many do...
More are coming on board as time goes on. It's a new, developing market.

----------

My US Bank Credit Card is showing an incorrect card picture. It is just showing a generic gray US Bank card while my actual card is Blue.

My original CapOne card showed wrong, it autocorrected after a day or two.

There was a way to manually create passes (a website, I believe), but I don't recall the address of the site.

Fair enough, I found something (PassSource.com) which makes codes for it. That's likely the one. Thank you!

Well, if the seller pays these 3%, then we actually pay.

In Brazil, discounts when paying with cash money are from 3% to 10%, but not every seller offers this option.

Some sellers charge the same price for a product irrespective to the payment method, but in this case they're actually receiving more when a consumer pays with cash.
