Hey Swiftkey users, are you finding the stock Android keyboard is good enough to give up Swiftkey?

I love being able to go between tapping and swiping to type, but not sure I want to give up Swiftkey's amazing auto correction.

What have you guys been using? And were you former Swfttkey users?

No I actually just started using SwiftKey again just a few hours ago. I tried the stock keyboard for a few days but prediction on SwiftKey is just so much better and I also use the swipe left to delete word gesture. I was a former SwiftKey user on a GS3.

I feel the same way about being able to tap and swipe but I guess none of the keyboards are perfect. At least you can quickly change keyboards in the notification bar if you have multiple keyboards selected.

That's a real shame. I love SK's auto correct too; it's like impossible to make a typo. But the convenience of going between tapping and swiping is really nice too.

Decisions, decisions.

I actually wish we can turn off gestures on SK. I also wish they'd put the "?" key somewhere on the keyboard so I can longpress instead of swipe right to get to it. For all its customization, it's weird they don't allow these two things.

BTW, how is SK's auto correction so good? What the heck are they doing?

I haven't received it yet so if you want I can get back to you about the quality as soon as it arrives. Should be here either this week or early next week.

Wow, very nice. Please post impressions.

I only use the swipe to delete gesture and I actually find the slide for ? to be very convenient and faster than tap and hold but you just have to get used to it.

I have no idea but after using it I just can't use any other keyboard :p

I've also briefly used Swype and prediction on that was much better than the stock keyboards swiping IMO.

Will do. I think that's the best looking pull tab pouch out of the ones I found on ebay and Amazon.

Sorry... here are the case pics....

Thanks looks nice. I don't know if I want a case yet but it would be good to be something at the gym to cover the whole thing though.

I have been using the stock 4.2 keyboard but SwiftKey really is nice. I feel like I can type just as confidently as I could on ios on this thing! My typing speed just greatly increased! I am very excited about this if you can't tell. I have used SwiftKey before but it seems much better now. The swipe to delete a word is really useful too instead of having to press back for each letter. This might be a purchase when the trial runs out. A long with light flow. :)

Can't see your pics. Repost, please?

Also, does it add any bulk? Any feedback? Looks great.

I was very surprised at how little bulk it adds. It feels very good in my hand.

I ordered this case last monday but it didn't ship till like Saturday so I actually was refunded due to that. Pretty nice case for free. :)

Nice. What color is that? Smoked? I'm thinking of getting the frost clear one but wish there was a good picture that showed just how clear it is...

It's frost clear. I'm really liking it. I I was happy to see how clearly the Nexus label on the back shows.

Do you think those will protect the back if device falls ? Some people say its more fragile than 4s or whatever but im not too concern about it, its all about how it hits the floor.

I think it will do ok on the back. Time will tell. :)

Ah I was hoping the frost clear was clearer.
I'm glad it is just the way it is. Hides the crack in the back perfectly lol. There.I admitted it. I feel better now.

Google Maps navigation goes live in mexico: http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/1...me-point-if-this-help-file-is-to-be-believed/

I don't know... is it me or is Google just rocking this year? Nexus 7, Nexus 4, Jelly Bean 4.2, all the little updates here and there to Maps, Chrome, Play Store; Google Now winning Innovation of the Year...

Their only major foul up is the launch of the Nexus 4. Otherwise, they're slammin' it this year.

EDIT: And next year... they might start their own carrier? This is a company that isn't resting on their laurels. (They're doing amazing things elsewhere too with windmill technology and automated cars...).

It's no wonder Apple is adopting more of Google's approaches. http://www.imore.com/apple-offering-select-employees-two-week-breaks-work-their-own-special-projects

"Apple has begun a new program which will offer certain employees time off from their normal day to day responsibilities to work on their own projects. The move is seen as very similar to a Google initiative where its employees can spend twenty percent of their time working on side projects in the hope that they may help the company in the future."

----------

It also begs this age old question: "Is Apple is on the brink of "repeating the mistakes of the Mac era"?"

Has anyone put cyanogen mod on their nexus? 10.1 nightlies are out. Why would I use that ROM over stock Android 4.2? It has been a while since I used any custom ROM or cyanogen.

IMO if Google wallet is working and everything else is working fine, there is no need to root the Nexus 4. I dont plan to when i get mine. I havent even rooted my GS3. Dont feel i need to though Google wallet isnt working buts thats the only thing i wish it had and thats on TMobile right now.

isn't google dumping google wallet? I feel like I got an email about getting my money off it b.c they were ending that service?

edit: nm just re-checked the email. They are ending the prepaid cards they use to have. I always use to just add money to that vs storing my CC info.

I rooted because I want to hide the nav bars at times. The only apps that do that requite root.

Just installed Notification Toggle and it told me I can have more options with it by being rooted.

For me one the driving forces to get me to Android was the fact that jailbreaking on iOS was seemingly a longer and longer process. Seeing a rooting guide for Nexus 4 before it was officially sold was a breath of fresh air. :)

It really bothers me that you can't center the new clock in 4.2. Am I wrong?

You can if you root and flash a custom ROM :p

Same thing with iOS really. Some things you can't really change unless you're willing to hack the system.

----------

One of the things I love about Android phones is the haptic feedback, especially on the keyboard. It was great on my S3 but I just decided to turn off haptic feedback for the keyboard on my Nexus 4 because the vibration feels different and weird compared to on the S3.

Anyone else dislike the haptic feedback vibration on the Nexus 4 or is it just me? :p

Mine centers ok.

Edit: I assumed you meant the widgets and not the status bar clock.

I was wrong. Thanks.

Wait, so you cannot center the clock? I had trouble trying to.

Juiceman, are you on a ROM?

I always turn off haptic feedback. It's such an unnecessary feature which I think is a relic from the past, when the software keyboards weren't good enough so it needed to emulate some sort of feedback.

I can thumb away like mad with Swiftkey and it gets it all right. It's a beautiful thing. :)
