Regarding 4.2.2:

Still some touch response issues. It happens randomly. Sometimes I'll flip to a different home screen, and it won't respond to my taps for a second-ish. It requires a second tap. For what it's worth, this happened on my 4S and still happens on my iPad, too (where it grays out but doesn't actually launch the app until a second tap).

: shrug :

Also, Google Music is now significantly slower. Pressing back sometimes hiccups for the slightest second, but it's noticeable and frustrating. Ditto when moving through GMusic menus, etc. This was not true with 4.2.1.

Also noticed the App Switcher is slower now too. There's this ever-so-slight delay that was not there before in 4.2.1.

Not sure what happened there.

Otherwise, battery life is a great improvement.

And there's one thing that no update will ever fix: The craptacular camera.

Yeah, especially in low-light situations. One reason why my iPhone 4S hasn't wandered too far off just yet. Plus, I really like my olloclip lenses for my iPhone so I still tend to use that instead of my Nexus for taking pictures.

Finally made a decision. Went with the Nexus 7 HSPA+ with AT&T. Unlocked for $299 and I'm going to use the AT&T DataConnect Prepaid plan for 3GB/$30 a month. I'll set up Talkatone with my Google Voice and use my Google Voice number as my primary number of contact. I'm totally okay with a 7" because, let's face it, the Note 2 is only 1.5" shy of it and the Tegra 3 stomps the Exynos quad core.

Plain and simple, the Nexus 7 is more or less the future of Android "Phablets", but without the phone capabilities built in.

I also have a N7 besides my N4 and have my N7 setup on AT&T. I get bad data on speeds only at home on AT&T and Verizon (cancelled my Verizon contract after a year because of this) and I have a T-Mobile sim arriving today and will be switching over to that. T-Mobile is excellent when I am home and away and I get anywhere from 17Mbps to 21Mbps on my N4.

I may keep the AT&T service anyways just for the extra data in case I use all my T-Mobile data.

Did I need a N7 with data capabilities? No, not with an N4 that can tether but I also didn't need a N7 but I'm having FUN using the hell of it! :D

I still can't get the battery life I need from my Nexus 4. If a person doesn't want a Samsung phone what is the next best Android phone after the Nexus 4?

If I were going to swap out my N4 for another Android device it would either be an HTC One or a Note 2....

And I hate Samsung.....to be honest, it's that damn flip cover that makes the Galaxy phones so appealing.....I want one for my iPhone!

I had to sell the n4 again. The battery life is definitely better with 4.2.2...a lot better, but I still cannot deal with getting home from work around 5:00pm with 25% battery. Using the Note with even more usage I get home with 70% battery. I guess I am spoiled with the note battery.

----------

But what does that mean exactly. Specifically what type of battery life, with what kind of usage?

my usage was almost 11 hours on battery with 1 hour 56 mins screen time and was at 18%. Before 4.2.2 it was about 8 hours on battery with 1 hour 30 mins screen time and would be dead.

That still doesn't tell me much. "Usage" in iOS doesn't mean very much as it even adds in "usage" when you aren't actually using the phone. 1hr 56 min of screen time, ok. Is that all?

screen time I meant, sorry. When I said usage, I meant time being off the charge. The screen time was only 1 hours 56 mins and I was 18%. Shockingly, that is way better than I was getting before 4.2.2

Sounds like the Googorola phone X could be the next nexus in December. Google isn't wowed with Motorola currently.

Today my fifth full day with my new Nexus 4, like I said been getting pretty darn good battery life each day, around 15 hours total battery life and 5h On Screen time.

Well was surprised to see the red alert battery life go off at 5:00pm today, unplugged off the charge at 7:00am. This was the first time the battery light went off so early in the day, the past four days, it was good until 10:00pm.

I know I used the phone a crazy amount today, was on it non stop, tons of phone calls, million texts, lots of e-mails, and surf the web quite a bit today too. I checked the usage just now, and my On Screen time was at 5h 30m already  Total time off charger 10h 20m.

So basically the Nexus 4 for me, tops out around a little more than 5h On Screen time, before going to red alert. That is still much better than my previous Galaxy Nexus, and little better than my old international HTC One X. Not too bad to get 10.5 hours total usage on a very heavy workday.

Call quality sucks on the nexus 4. I know it's not the carrier because I've tested another phone and calls are crystal clear.

The main issue is that the person on the other line says I keep breaking up. When I switch to another phone on the same carrier they say its clear.

Nexus 4 is likely getting sold. Just too many dang issues. I don't trust lg and I've lost a lot of faith with google (launch debacle, terrible customer service--I mean truly terrible--, and issues with 4.2).

Just had enough of them and the nexus line.

Interesting, as I've been getting the opposite responses from my callers. They tell me that I'm crystal clear, even quite loud. One of my friends told me that I was coming across more clearly than I do over my $250 gaming headset on the PS3. He was surprised over the call quality.

Just got an RMA from Google. Maybe mine is defective. They were actually very pleasant to talk with and gave me the exchange with little-to-no-issue.

We shall see...

Three UK supports HD Voice as when my friend calls on the same network (on his Galaxy S III) the calls are unbelievably clear. Really suprised me the first time he called me on it.

Good luck with the RMA.

Sucks I have to get a new skin for the replacement.

I bought this:

http://dbrand.com/submodels/nexus-4

Black leather.

If you hit "Purchase Now" it lets you see how the skin looks on the Nexus (it doesn't commit you to purchasing, if you're worried).

Some of the best skins I've seen. Even has a cut out for the "NEXUS" logo on the back.

I placed an order from them a couple weeks ago. I went with the carbon fiber skin. Still waiting on the damn thing though. They are based in Canada so I'm wondering if it got lost in the mail or if it might be stuck in Customs or something.

I had very similar issues and concerns about my nexus. I sold mine. Got a cheap Samsung Discover for Net10. The cheap and slow smartphone can last a day and a half before charging with moderate use. Close to three days with light use. Bluetooth connection with my stereo headset worked well with music and connecting to calls compared to the Nexus. Also I could hear calls better and the receiver could hear me well. I always had these nagging issues with the Nexus. The Nexus looks the part and is built well but I'm convinced LG used crappy innards to get to that low price point.

My next phone will be an HTC One.
