I always had these nagging issues with the Nexus.

Precisely this.

The Nexus 4 (and to some degree, Google) just has rubbed me in the wrong ways. It all started with the launch debacle, then their customer service throughout that time period (I mean, utterly horrible. Their reps were uninformed, unorganized, and ultimately exacerbated the situation), the issues with 4.2 which took a long time to fix (some of which aren't fixed yet. There's still so noticeable touch-lag issues, and worse, I swear... certain things got slower. App Launcher sometimes lags when it didn't before the 4.2.2 update. Navigating throught he menus of stock Music app got a ton slower too. Camera is still horrifically slow to take a picture, etc. etc.).

Parts of me misses AMOLED, too. LCD has nicer color reproduction, whatever the heck that means. I personally don't care. All I know is AMOLED looks more pleasing. And the supposed "better in sunlight" I've discovered is a load of crock.

There are many things to love about the Nexus 4. There are also many things to dislike.

Yes in the end there was more do dislike for me. Nothing was "stellar" with it. Average phone. Average speaker. Below average camera.

Ditto about the launch too. For one thing, there should have been those bumpers available for the phone at launch. While I was babying my N4 the week I had it before my (third party) case came in I did not know it was as slippery as heck and it slid off my iPad onto the floor. While I checked it out thoroughly and there was not a scratch on it, when I went to put my case on a few days later--and peeled off the factory protective film on the back--to my horror there was a crack running across it from left to right (not ending or beginning from a corner). Ugh.

While I take responsibility for letting the fall happen, two things about that back cracking bother me. One, the fact that there were no bumpers available when I bought it. I'm convinced that would have been enough to protect it.

The other thing that bothers me is that I am 80% sure I would have noticed that crack when it happened. I really checked it out thoroughly and don't see how I could have missed it. I do know I woke up one morning to the N4 being very warm--hot even--with the battery really low. Thermal expansion? I can never say for sure. But I will say there was absolutely no damage to the sides or corners of the device. Not a blemish. Yet a crack going from 1/3 from the top on the right to about mid-point on the left... how did that happen??. Still, since I could not say it was not caused in the fall I could not call support about it. Still it left a bad taste in my mouth.

The biggest issue for me though, was battery life. Had the update come out sooner maybe I would have kept it. Which makes me wonder why, since this had to be a bug they found, they couldn't have at least rushed out a fix for it before 4.2.2. That was a big issue to leave out there unfixed for 3 months. That did it for me about "getting timely updates if you have a Nexus."

I think the 3 of us change phones like crazy haha.

Anyone have issues with the headphone jack? MineSeems to be work out already. The plug s don't stay in. I called Google hopefully they'll fix it. This is a problemWhen there are no stores.

A friend that I work with posted on her FaceBook that she got a new phone. I get to work and ask her what she bought and she pulls out a shiny new Nexus 4!

This is the same place where 2-3 of us had iPhones at one time, now not one person has an iPhone, it's all Androids.

Has anyone in the UK been experiencing different network coverage since the update?

My signal bar is more grey nowadays and its annoying! After a quick reboot it 'fixes' itself.

yeah, i work in a big building. in certain areas the signal goes out, but, annoyingly, it doesn't come back on. i also reboot to get it working again.

Three have been having issues with the mast in my area. Had nearly 3 days with no signal. I go a mile or two up the road and all is well.

Has that only stated since you updated?

Mine doesn't sort itself out though, I can be in the same spot without reception, after a reboot it's fine.

This only started happening since the update.

Lol don't believe crap like that, Google have a strict a phone a year, I would be very surprised, not even Apple does that, and they pump new products out like rabbits. It will be a new Nexus 7. And it has been confirmed Motorola X will be waiting for streamline of Moto devices to be released (the 18month thing), that will most likely be at the end of the year.

Thinking of making the jump from ip5 and ios to the nexus 4.
I was thinking of waiting for the SG4 but the price and getting KLP are the largest attractions for me at the moment.
Is anyone glad they made the jump themselves or is anyone thinking of going back?
Thanks and much appreciated.

I never bothered with the 5 as I thought the shape was dumb. But I did jump from the 4S to the N4 and love it. I still keep my iPhone around for a couple small reasons, but overall the N4 is my phone.

Personally, If KLP is your biggest reason for jumping to the Nexus 4, I would wait until the Nexus 5. The battery life and Camera are really bad and a killer for me. 3 months ago I would say go for it, but klp will be out soon enough and on the late 2013 phones.

The Nexus 4, will be the first phone to get KLP, if it's released this Summer, but if Android 5.0 is held off till Fall, then the Nexus-Five in November will be the first out with it.

Other non Nexus phones, like the Galaxy S4, and HTC One, will have a long wait to get the 5.0 update. Typically they like to create all new updated fresh UI's to go with a new Android build. So for Android 5.0 on non Nexus phones, it will be the Galaxy S5 and HTC Two, next year running KLP.

That is my point. KLP is still a few months away and the nexus 4 has too many downsides. He mine as well wait for the nexus 5 or buy a phone that is already very feature rich... Aka a Samsung.

I honestly think a lot of key lime Pie will be things Samsung added to their phones.

Sure the N4 could have been better, but it also could have been more expensive too. This phone is $300-350 unlocked. All it's competitors is in the $600-800 range unlocked. So yeah, there are phones out there with better cameras and battery life, but they are also more expensive.

Very true. The initial appeal is that you are getting a great phone at a great deal. In reality you are getting a phone worth $350.

My N4s power button is still becoming unresponsive every once and awhile. I will go to turn on the screen and the button doesn't do anything. Then I have to home it down and restart the phone. Really annoying

I would seriously call google and get an exchange.

Just some things to note about the n4:
-Battery life
- camera
- screen brightness: even though the screen I'd amassing I have it quite dim to save battery.

Other than that its a GREAT phone.

These features can be improved with klp l though.

Think I may have converted an iPhone 5 guy to the Nexus 4 :D

New client meeting today, he had an iPhone 5, I asked how he liked it, he said he likes it, blah blah blah, said he almost got the Galaxy S3 but didn't like the design, and heard battery life was bad on Android compared to iPhone 5.

I then pulled out my Nexus 4, he said, whoa, whats that ? That's not Samsung, what phone is that ? I told him the new Nexus, he said wow, nice screen, he wanted to hold it, he said this is very nice, I like the widgets, and the size feels just right, and he said very sharp looking display ( which I have calibrated with custom kernel )

We talked battery life, he said he gets around 14 - 18 hours or so per workday, I said I get the exact same with this Nexus 4, and 5h On Screen time, he said that's a bit better than his iPhone 5. He thought Android phones only got like 8 - 10 hours total battery life. I said nope, not on the newer high end Androids.

Then I told him the price and that I am Straight Talk AT&T for $45/Month, he wanted all the info I could give him :)

Then he got your digets and set the date :p

I have a few people that come into my work that I talk phones with when I am suppose to be doing other things haha.
