The ordering process for the 'fones sucks almost as bad as the ordering process of the phone

Ordered a N4 again yesterday (initially ordered Dec but cancelled cos Google couldn't get their heads out their asses) and got it today.

Got it to play with Android and see what the fuss is about. My phone has the two nubs so i guess its one of the newer models. (Mar 13 Korea)

If there are any suggestions on apps or tweaks to make i'm all ears.

First red flag i've noticed is that it won't connect to my router unless i change channels to one with more interference. None of my other devices have this problem.

Some suggestions from me: not sure what your android experience is so some of these may seem n00bish, sorry!

If you're ever going to use custom roms or root the device, get the bootloader unlocked ASAP as it requires a wipe of your phone for security. Wiping after setting up can be no fun.

Get your music matched/uploaded to Google Music if you haven't.
Setup chrome sync if you're a chrome user.

Remember you can install apps from any web browser to your nexus from http://play.google.com

Some quick suggestions:

Press - best RSS reader I've used. Currently syncs with Google Reader but an alternative has been promised with the closure of Google Reader in July.
Pocket (formerly read it later)
Box (free 50gb storage offer may be still on from LG phones, I got it back with my Neuxs)
Google Drive (includes google docs).
Plex (if you want to stream audio/video/music to your Nexus)
Falcon Pro for Twitter.
SwiftKey keyboard. Better than anything I've used. There is a free trial on the play store.

Amazon AppStore via the amazon website for the free app every day.

Hope some of those are ok. Don't forget the 15 min refund window on paid android apps.

I installed and enjoy the tweaks on my Nexus 4 from this video, I use Apex launcher rather than Go Launcher.

He uses a Note 2 but it works just as well with a N4.

Enjoy your new phone. :)

Has the battery life improved with 4.2.2? I'm thinking about picking up an N4 to go along with my iPhone 5.

I'm not sure if its me ( my hearing ) or my device lol, the sound quality isn't that clear at times a lot of background noise and low volume at times , I've been using headphones for a while and it sounds much better, the device was purchased directly from Google Im sure I can ask for a replacement under the 1 year warranty but does anyone know if the phone will be a refurbished phone? that might give me more trouble and is there a fee for doing so ?

Thanks in advance

Let me just say this, Google Play has INSANE customer support for defective devices. I got a new Nexus 4 sent out within a week while the wait time was 6-8 weeks for new orders. It was a brand spanking new device.

Now for the really insane part, I called two days ago about my bumper. I bought it back in December. The bottom part cracked. I was expecting an excuse about how its not their fault, but instead the employee said that she's gonna send me a label to return it for a full refund (no restocking fee) that way I can just order a new one. I was astonished.

If google can fix the ordering process they would be the best

This is my 4th Nexus 4 because of all the defective ones. And when I first set it up I did a complete wipe twice.

Lucky you. For my first replacement I was told a week. Then 2 weeks. Then 6-7 weeks. Then 3 weeks. Everybody kept lying to me.

Finally I got a customer service agent who wasn't a total ****. I told him I had to leave the country in 3 days. My replacement then got in the day before I left.

I am convinced he was able to somehow bypass the normal replacement system or whatever the customer service agents have to use. Because even 4 months after this happened, Google Play still thinks my device has not shipped.

And now I need to order my 5th Nexus 4 and nobody has offered any sort of compensation. If this was just about any other company I would have gotten a gift card by now.

No. But I am running a custom kernel. The same kernel I ran on all my past Nexus 4's. But this is the first one to cause problems like this.

Hmm, problems with all 4 of your Nexus 4 devices. All 4 of them ran a custom kernel.

May I suggest not running a custom kernel? Maybe YOU'RE the reason why these phones are having problems. Maybe it's something that you are doing to them that is causing the issue.

I assume he is not the only person running the same custom kernel ? It wouldnt be out of this world that many replacements.

Anyway myself im about to jump in the custom kernel world.

From the previous page:
First one had this problem:

Second and third one both had major backlight bleeding issues. This fourth one does too, but its not as bad.

Please read.

I'm back on CyanogenMod 10.1 and the addition of the PIE controls is great. :D

Been going between stock and CM for a few months now and can see myself sticking to CM so far.

Probably revert back when KLP releses to see whats new. :D
