I believe Samsung is also the only Android manufacturer to keep removable batteries and SD card slots on their phones. Just another reason why they continue to get my business and so many Android users buy their phones.

I used to think the same, until I realized that I never changed the battery on my S2, S3, Note 2, or S4. The wireless charger for my Nexus 5 keeps me topped up at work and at home easily, so battery is never an issue for me. SD cards, when my s4 ate the third microSD card in 5 months, the last one being a 64GB card filled with music, that was the last straw for me, especially when I realized I just used Rdio most of the time anyway.

Yep I agree with you. I will buy the next Galaxy S5 if they keep the physical home button and SD card. The removable battery is all bonus!

How does a phone "eat" an SD Card?

Hey Guys, I wanted to know if anyone has exchanged their Nexus 5 because of the Annoying loose home button issue? I ordered a wooden skin for my Nexus and was thinking maybe I should exchange mine now instead of waiting so I can put the skin on one I don't intend on exchanging. Thanks!
Home button?

Still playing around with my N5. I do not like the new email. It looks like Gmail now and doesn't give you the links to reply to forums anymore. So when i get notices from here, i cant just click the link anymore. I really don't like that. You dont links to anything that ive seen.
Ill have install the Yahoo app now. I'm also not being notification badges on the Google launcher or on Nova. Don't like that either

True. Mine isn't loose. But I am also using a Sprigen case...

Mine isn't lose either. I was checking that out since it wad
X mentioned often in here. I also put a spigen slim armor case on it and the buttons work very well with it. I have a Otterbox on my GS3 and the power button is a bit hard to press with that case on it .

All Android phones used to have a menu button instead of a multitask button some manufacturers most notably Samsung have kept it. In apps it brings up the same menu as the 3 dots, on the desktop it brings a shortcut to system settings/backgrounds and a few other things that I forget.

Ok, I know what you mean... that still exists as part of the navigation menu, it only appears when it's implemented though. Since few applications implement it and instead implement settings as part of their in-app system it's not required.

I tried a few apps on my phone to get it to appear and the one that worked was "Enjoy Sudoku." If you install that, you'll notice the 3-dots appear as the app requires them and brings up full settings.

I believe this is an "old way" of doing things and is now legacy garbage.

Liking the N5 more and more. Only gripes so far are:

*no links in emails and the new email client looks like crap(same as Gmail) compared to the 4.3 version
*sound could be louder but its not horrible
*no number badges on anything so far. Whats up w/ that?
*cant figure out how to change bubble colors in hangouts as both mine others are the same white color.
But i can always use another text app and i do like Textra and Handcent a lot.
* No way to make the LED any other color or to work with apps. Its not even an option at all in settings that i see.
*Music player wuth earbuds sound great on this phone(not a gripe)

Got my music in the phone (about 1300 songs) and only 1 movie (have 4 others on my SDcard i can transfer) and with the music and 1 movie i still have 18.88 of GB left.

No links in emails (GMail)? I have hyperlinks via images and text in emails on my Nexus 5. No issues. Maybe I don't understand what you are saying?

No number badges. True. But I'm not a big fan of cluttering up icons with badges. I prefer to have my information in the status bar or by opening notification center. I hate having those badges on the icons on my iPad. Just a preference is all. If you really want them, just use Nova launcher. If the badges aren't available yet in 4.4, I'm sure the Nova team will have that feature added in short order.

Not in Gmail, in the other email client that i have set up with my Yahoo account. It shows where it came from but the link is just text and wont work as a link to go to where it came from such as in this forum for example.

Ahh, the AOSP email client. Google doesn't do hardly anything with that client except ensure it works with the OS. It is essentially a base, open source plain email client for OEM's to use. GMail is proprietary, and do to the AOSP agreement, Google has to provide the OEM's something. GMail is the only official email client for the Nexus devices and Android OS.

The links always used to work before. Never had an issue with it actually except sometimes when i delete things they would show back up again. Looked and worked great in 4.3.

Another issue. Maybe its been discussed in here. It was easy to make ringtones for my GS3 using RingDroid and they went right into my sounds lists and it just worked. Now they go into my sounds list but the song i used does not play. It just gives some lame bell tone or something.

Anybody have this problem and is there a fix?

Download and use Zedge. Will solve all your ringtone and notification tone problems.

I have Zedge and that worked fine for notification sounds but they dont have the Ringtones i made myself w/ Ring Droid.

But i did fix it. If anybody else has this problem, what i did was plug my GS3 into my PC and remove the ringtones from there from the media file to my desktop. Then plugged my Nexus 5 into the computer with USB cable and drag and dropped them over into the Ringtones folder.

That worked and the phone recognized them and they work. However, now i cant delete the ones i thought i made and dont work so i have duplicates of the same titles.

So I think Google Voice needs some work, every once and a while when I am checking VM (I use GV) it somehow steals the 'focus' for Googles Hot Word... The only way to fix it (that I have found so far) is to reboot. :(

I got my N5 yesterday and I'm loving it. I thought I was doing a pretty good job of corralling my wife to getting the Moto G or X, but she did a complete 180 and went with an iPhone 5S instead. Hmm, so much for getting one platform for the household. :D

This camera is awful for anything moving. Google completely over estimated optical image stabilization. The problem is they think "Oh we will just let OIS take care of everything. We can leave the shutter open longer and still have crisp images thanks to optical image stabilization." Except the problem with this thinking is that it only works with stationary objects. Not to mention the fact that this camera's OIS doesn't compensate for all that much movement in the first place. And their noise reduction algorithm for images is way too strong. Auto-focus takes for ever and overall it just takes too long to take a picture. Long lag time before taking a picture in addition to shutter open too long never brings good images for anything in movement.

32GB or 16GB? Hows the speaker? Does your screen have yellow tint? Comments on the reception vs your last phone? Im still deciding between the Nexus 5 and Moto X so any answers would help, lol

1.) 16GB

2. Speaker is on the weaker side. I picked a really loud, obnoxious ring tone to be sure I don't miss a call. (it's whatever the 'old school' 'classic' phone tone is)

2.) No detectable yellow tint, as far as I can tell. I'm not sure if I have a phone from a newer batch, or what. I didn't have to do that huge update that many early buyers had to do, either.

3.) Reception seems to be a little on the weak end. My wife is getting 4 bars (or dots) on her phone and my phone is only getting one bar. She was previously on Virgin (Sprint) and I was on AT&T - now we're both on T-Mobile. My previous phone was an iPhone 4, and I usually got 2-3 dots (bars), so I'm a little suspicious of what's going on. I'm going to dig in to see where my nearest tower is.

My wife was super impressed with the Moto X features based on the website, but she didn't want to wait for it to ship from Motorola. I agree that the X has some pretty cool features, and the fact that it runs pretty close to stock Android is an awesome plus.

Of course, I do have to say that my experiences with the N5 echo everyone else's - the camera is great when the subject is non-moving; otherwise, the focus is woefully slow and inadequate. If Google really is working on a software fix, that would be pretty great.

Overall, I think that you can't go wrong with either the X or the N5. I know I'm incredibly happy with my N5 because my previous phone was a tiny screened, single core iPhone 4. It's been an absolute joy to consume media over the past couple of days in comparison with my old phone.

Good luck!

So you cant use lockscreen widgets on Kitkat?

You definitely can, but you have to enable it in the 'security' tab in settings, first.
