The best I could see is invites for the event going out today within the next hour or two. I'm not holding my breath though. Honestly, I don't think we are going to see it until November.

Last year the n4 didn't get announced until the end of October and was not available to order until mid november. That would make sense.

The straws we're grasping at....

I guess, ultimately, some day soonish, we'll find out the date when we'll have to spend hours constantly refreshing the screen (or, like I did last year, write a script to do it for me) just so we can try to successfully order one in the three minute window before they're sold out.

I love my Nexii. But... I don't love this. At least with Apple, you know ahead of time when things will be announced, and you know you've got at least a halfway decent chance of obtaining one if you try. The 2013 Nexus 7 launch gives me some hope, but there's too much history of bad launches for me to expect to get a Nexus 5 in the first month unless I'm on the browser at the exact right moment.

I've seen that analogy but I have to say that the demand for the N5 seems far superior to the N7 2013, therefore I can't really see how that can be translated to the N5 launch. I say if it's available, get it even if you prefer waiting for the reviews to evaluate the battery life and camera and other things. Get it and keep it wrapped and if the reviews judge the battery below your par, you'll still be able to sell it and wrapped, you'll get at least what you paid for it.

The only thing that gives me some hope is that, last year, there was a huge pent-up desire for the Nexus 4. I'm not sure that level of desire is the same now for the Nexus 5, mainly because, unlike a year ago, there are a number of Play Store "pure" variants of phones available now and near-pure ones like the Moto X. A year ago, if you wanted pure Google Android, you got the Nexus 4 (or installed your own... not something most wanted to do).

Plus, there isn't yet reason to be sure the N5 will fix the issues of the N4 (camera, for one, and battery for another). I think many might sit out the initial launch and wait for reviews.

I'll be buying one, though. ;-) And I might take your advice... but it's so difficult not to open it.

I'm guessing the event will be next week, with the invites going out tonight or tomorrow.

Last year, the N4 was announced on October 29th, and released on November 13th.

The Google Nexus was also released in November (17th).

So, I'm guessing another November release for the Nexus 5.

Last year was also the first time a nexus device saw such a high demand (for a nexus). I would have they took that into consideration and upped the stock.

That and the addition of carriers out of the gate should indicate they are pepping and expecting a demand.

Has the Google event started yet?

How more until it starts? Just want to see what it's all about.

Nexus 5

Still very weird no sites are reporting on this event. No one has even mentioned it since geek took it down. Wouldn't they want as much press hype as possible? Even if there are no devices.

Phil from Android Central said there won't be an event or stream.

So, it looks like they will just announce it and put it on the website, with no event at all

The best android phone this year and the cheapest for the powerful specs it will Have
