Anyways, ill give a look to the Nexus but i have to say, the GS2 that is now at T-Mobile has a faster processor (1.5 dual core processor) and a 8MP camera w/ 2MP FFC & 2.3.5 Gingerbread to the Nexus 1.2 dual core, 5MP & 1.3 MP. However, ICS is the biggest key here along with some other things to consider which Samsung did on purpose so everyone doesnt forget about the GS2 and run to Nexus.

Ill have to compare side by side which im sure we will see a video of soon.

Specs and doesnt include all the ICS upgrades in the OS

GS2

1.5 dual core Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ S3 Processor

2 MP FFC
1GB RAM
GB 2.3.5
4G connectivity
4.52" screen w/ 800X480 resolution
1850 mAh lithium-ion battery

Google Nexus

1.2 dual core GPU OMAP processor from Texas Instruments
5MP camera
1.3MP FFC
1GB RAM

Isn't the GS2 3D releasing soon? Most likely with ICS? And I think another version of GS2 as well.

Nexus prime is made of soft touch plastics and metal. So your statement is false. They can if they want to, but there's no need for it.

So soft touch plastics plastic? I think you're missing it here. A soft touch plastic is nothing but uncoated (ex. not glossy) plastic, and as we've already discussed the metal is minimal and is simply a bezel.

Dude, you complained about every device you had/have. If you like a glass encased phone, does that mean everyone should? So its ok for you to say its ok but its not for me to say i dont want one?
More nice logic!
Sorry, i dont want a glass encased phone because some think it looks better. That isnt a good reason to me because it is less sturdy than the plastic backs. Ive yet to have a plastic back shatter into a thousand pieces but ive sure seen a few of my buddies and co-workers smash theirs.

And yes, the 2G still is the best built Apple phone. But the aluminum back was way too slippery. Same with the chrome backs of the iPods.

You missed what I was saying, obviously. Never once did I say glass phones were perfect- but I did say they are better than plastic.

You're right- I do complain about all my devices.

1. iPhone 2G- Fantastic build quality. The black antenna was a little gross, and the phone was a little heavy.
2. iPhone 3G (and 3G S)- Plastic sucks.
3. iPhone 4- Pretty decent, but glass is relatively heavy and the metal antenna band is not aesthetically great.
4. iPhone 4S- Same as before, except no longer revolutionary thin or lightweight. Disappointment!
5. iPad 1- Pretty thick, but has a nice feel like the iPhone 2G.
6. iPad 2- Almost too thin, but overall a good design.
7. HTC G1- Very cheap feeling!
8. Nexus S- Feels like an iPhone 3G.
9. HP TouchPad- Feels very cheap and overly heavy.

What's wrong with not being perfectly happy with what manufacturers give you? Isn't that the goal of consumerism, to strive for change and innovation to make the products we buy better?

I'm actually getting very jealous at Verizon customers. They have the newest iPhone, many of the flagship Androids, the flagship BlackBerry, and an excellent WP7 phone.

Looking at this Galaxy Nexus, it really did answer many MacRumor members' prayers. Bigger screen with high ppi and resolution. Rounded edges that makes it comfortable to hold compared to the sharp edges of the 4/4S. Nice grip on the back that prevents slipping and fingerprints unlike glass. Samsung was the one answering their prayers except it was for a rival OS.

I like this Galaxy Nexus better than the Nexus S which felt like a weak upgrade from the first one. The screen is going to look stellar once I see it for the first time in person.

4.6" screen? No thank you! 4.5" is already monstrously too big. Anything over 4" is way too huge to be practical as a phone (and I personally think Apple found the sweet spot but anything to 4" I'll at least consider if overall the phone is good. THey'd have to do something super super droolworthy to get me over any screen size bigger). Some of us would actually see that big screen as a huge negative believe it or not.
I'd beg to differ. I find 3.5 to be quite tiny. Also though the screen is 4.65 there are no buttons and minimal bezel therefore the phone itself is around the same size as a 4.3" screen phone. By the way, just so you know, the HTC Sensation has a 4.3" screen is only very slightly larger than the iphone (only by a couple millimeters).

Curved screen? WTF?! Why would I want that? Solely so it can be used as a phone more comfortably (and less usable for everything else)?
It's obvious you've never actually used a phone with a contoured screen. The screen is no less usable and no less visible. The curve is not extreme, it's a slight curve. At least if you're going to knock something, have knowledge about what it is you're going to knock.

And I can almost guarentee you when Apple puts out new OS's for the next two years you'll be able to get them on your phone soon as they are out so it will stay relevant (sooner and longer when you think of many Android phones that never get around to supporting the newest OS, no need to they want to focus on their newest phone, not the one they already got the money for). No waiting for your carrier or manufacturer to support it on your phone.
We're talking about the galaxy nexus..not every single android phone ever made...realize that android is just an OS..it isn't a phone. The galaxy nexus will be updated directly from google, so again you're off target.

Better camera... oh wait, no it doesn't.
You don't know if it does or does not. Quite frankly I don't think there will be a large difference in quality. However there are more features in the galaxy nexus ie. panorama, time lapse, and full editing controls.

NFC. Yep, that's nice, I agree. Though part of me says that's also meaning you can really get f'ed if some one steals your phone. But I'd probably use it anyways.
Again you're talking about something you don't know about. ACTUALLY, if you lost your phone you'd be fine because in order to use the phone to pay they have to know your pin. So once again speak about the things you know..and not the things you ASSUME.

Oh, I can deny it. Because you know what, some of those specs are extreme enough that they will be a turn off to some and not considered "better".

Curved screen? WTF?! Why would I want that? Solely so it can be used as a phone more comfortably (and less usable for everything else)? If I wanted something to be super good at a phone I'd get a dumb phone which I'm sure still does better as a phone than any smart phone. The best part of my iPhone being a phone is just that I don't need to carry a phone too. I use it far more like a mini tablet than a phone so why would I want it to have a screen that is more dedicated to being a phone than a tablet? I thought we have spent decades perfecting technology to have flat screens in our viewing items! The reason I have a smart phone is to have a computer away from my computer.

Faster processor? Ok, you got me there... except I wonder how well it will do with Android vs. iPhone's with iOS5?

New OS? So does iPhone. So no, those specs clearly aren't better. Some are so extreme that for some people they're a clear negative. Some are just confusing why people are making a big deal. Some are the same as the iPhone. ANd yeah, one thing I will agree it clearly has over the iPhone (NFC).

LOL, ...i know your just throwing stones here because honestly, you wont even notice the difference. The curve is slight. Dont you know anybody that has a Nexus S? If you didnt know it had a curve it would have to be pointed out to you when looking at the screen straight on.

My point was in reply to some one saying htere was no argument the specs are better. I'd say that depends on the person. I realize there are people out there who want bigger screens. There are also people out there like me who do not... not even bigger than the iPhone's. ANd that a screen bigger than 4" is not just a wish they'd made it smaller but an outright that is a big argument against that phone. I want my phone to be portable.

Really the end point of my reply was that it is not "clearly" better specs. Some of that was really depending on who you talked to cause particularly on screen size the specs were so extreme that some people would consider it a downside and not clearly better at all (in fact clearly worse to those people like me).

It's obvious you've never actually used a phone with a contoured screen. The screen is no less usable and no less visible. The curve is not extreme, it's a slight curve. At least if you're going to knock something, have knowledge about what it is you're going to knock.

Ok, then enlighten me what the point is? I still don't get why people think this is such a big bonus. To me at most it is a, "meh? So what?" Once again I'd argue it is not a clearly better spec.

We're talking about the galaxy nexus..not every single android phone ever made...realize that android is just an OS..it isn't a phone. The galaxy nexus will be updated directly from google, so again you're off target.

Ok, but I also was arguing that adding a new OS really shouldn't even be considered since the iphone also got a new OS, it's really the same. And we're talking specs here... which I thought were more hardware related.

You don't know if it does or does not. Quite frankly I don't think there will be a large difference in quality. However there are more features in the galaxy nexus ie. panorama, time lapse, and full editing controls.

I'm going to guess probably not better though. And I can get an app for better editing (I will fully admit I think Apple software sux. I love their OS's and their laptops and phones, but don't get me started on my apple makes crappy software rant <- if you can't tell I'm a bit cranky/tired right now and should go to sleep so rant way too easily. One reason I think I won't find Siri too useful if I get a 4s is you are reliant on Apple's apps. Which I think for every single one I can find a far far far better app for).

Again you're talking about something you don't know about. ACTUALLY, if you lost your phone you'd be fine because in order to use the phone to pay they have to know your pin. So once again speak about the things you know..and not the things you ASSUME.

Maybe I'm wrong on that one, I thought it was like those chips they put in credit cards these days, just wave it over and you're done. But then if you have to put a pin number in to use the phone to pay, wouldn't just using a credit card be easier? Even a debit card cause you don't have to turn on the phone, get to the pin entering part and do all that jazz, just swipe and enter pin... or how does that work?

If you want the most powerful phone out there, it looks like this is the phone for you.

I m in too deep with Apple. Photo stream has made my life so much easier. And streaming my music to my speakers is something I couldn't be without.

Not to mention some apps would be hard to replace.

However, if that wasn't the case, this phone looks like a nice piece of kit.

Notification LED = Yes. Very yes.

1.) Try out the phone before stating it's too big.

Uh, already played with a phone with a smaller screen (that was nice and thin) and was far far too big and unwieldy. Why would a phone with a bigger screen than the one I played with be any better on that aspect? Is it that hard to believe that some of us don't want mini tablets for phones? I like my phone that can be easily used with one hand when i need to and can fit in my purse well or my pocket if I need it to (and doesn't suck battery life too).

2.) Try out the phone before judging the screen.

Or some one could point out to me what the hell is the big deal behind a curved screen. I'm sorry, I just really dont' get why people think that's a huge deal. What does a curved screen supposedly do for you (I think I read some one say it makes it easier to hold up to your head but i really don't see why that's a huge deal).

3.) Nexus phones get the updates first.....
4.) I would agree if you're taking bigger pictures. 5 MP is decent enough. This is a phone, not a camera.

Well seeing as the person I was replying to was claiming clearly better specs, I was pointing out that some of that was relative to what you wanted (some people do not want a bigger screen or care one bit about curved screens) and that some of it was clearly not "better" specs at all.

5.) Nexus specs don't matter like iPhone specs do because the software is optimized with the hardware. If you want specs, wait for the SIII.

ONce again I was replying to some one who was claiming clearly better specs. My point was arguing against that. Some of those specs being better are subjective. Some weren't really that clearly better. Some just weren't better. Some were irrelevant (having a new OS, well so does the iPhone). Some were better (but not it totally dominating over like person I replied to claimed).

And... did you mean to say iPhone specs matter (cause the iPhone supposedly also has software optimized to the hardware or at least that's the claim).

So soft touch plastics plastic? I think you're missing it here. A soft touch plastic is nothing but uncoated (ex. not glossy) plastic, and as we've already discussed the metal is minimal and is simply a bezel.

I didnt miss what you were saying. You asked what was wrong with a glass back, and i answered it. And to me, it isnt better than a plastic back. Thats just your opinion and my opinion is that it isnt better....especially for me. And i can change my battery and i dont want to have to unscrew my glass to do that. I dont see it as better in anyway at all.

Isnt it great that we have choices? Android is pushing Apple which is great. Its just too bad they have no interest in keeping up. WP7 is doing ok, i personally havent spent enough time with it to say i like it and the short time i have, i dont are for it but many do like it and it also pushes Apple though not yet near to the extent.

Savor I'm actually getting very jealous at Verizon customers. They have the newest iPhone, many of the flagship Androids, the flagship BlackBerry, and an excellent WP7 phone.

Yeah but its still Verizon. Ill never switch to them. They are just too expensive and IMO an crappy company who dont treat their customers well. Ill go to Metro PCS before i go to Verizon.

I'm going to guess probably not better though. And I can get an app for better editing...
That still doesn't get you panorama and time lapse options. Furthermore, you GUESS PROBABLY NOT? That's just pure speculation on it not being better. For all you know, it could be better or equal. Speculating on this is pointless. I don't do speculation, I'd rather deal with facts.

Maybe I'm wrong on that one, I thought it was like those chips they put in credit cards these days, just wave it over and you're done. When you tap your phone, it brings up the pin for you to authorize it to send your credit card info to the machine. Then when you tap you're done. All in all it takes seconds to do and is very convenient. As someone who uses it just about every day, I can tell you I prefer it to using my credit card. And the beauty of it is, as more and more retailers are using contactless payments I'm able to use it in more and more places. I already can get gas and groceries with it, among a lot of other things. Soon it will be to the point, I won't need my credit card with me at all.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.3.6; en-gb; Nexus S Build/GRK39F) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

So tempted by this but it would mean I have to give up both my Nexus S and GSII to do so (wife would kill me with another smartphone).

I may just wait for ICS to hit for the Nexus S and see what that brings to the old girl.

It's been an impriessive end to the year for smartphone lovers and prospective smartphone owners. So much good choice out there now.

The battery is smaller than the 2000+mAh rumored. That monster resolution is going to suck some serious juice.

Oh my!!! It's so big!

Good thing AT&T has a 30 day guarantee.

Once this hits the stores my 4S might be goin back.

I would love to watch movies and read magazines on that huge screen
