from Minnyhaha eh? hmmm I wonder where your motivation lies

but I agree.... Bears by a field goal in the snow, unless GB can pull it out.

And Jets over Pitt, unless Pitt's defense is really tough in that case Pitt by a FG

Minnyhaha? No. I just happen to currently live in Minnesota:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Honestly, the Bears v GB game will be very close. GB and Rogers will have no trouble playing in the snow, but the Bears will pull it out in the end.

No one, other than in Pittsburgh and NY, cares about the other game, but I'll guess that Pittsburgh wins by 3.

Green Bay is certainly capable of winning it all. They've been on fire the whole playoffs.

I think the only chance for the Bears to win is if Cutler doesn't turn the ball over and they have a good mix of run and pass. Yeah, sounds pretty obvious, and it is, but its pretty clear cut for them.

Also their defense, which has been good (until the end of the seahawks game) just has to play aggressively which i think they will. If ALL that happens, I think chicago can pull it off ;)

As for the AFC, I don't really care since my pats lost :( don't really care much for the steelers or jets either.

GB was on fire against the over-rated falcons.... Against the Eagles they could have very well lost that game. Vick had the ball at the GB 30 with plenty of time and down by 5..... He was obviously hurt in that game, had he been healthy and playing like himself the Packers are one and done......

That being said I don't really trust cutler against a good defense so I still think the Packers will take this one in chicago, but it will be a grind.

I guess thats why both Jets playoffs game have broken records so far for viewers, and why the NFL has put all Jets games in the primetime slot including this one coming up.

Bart Scott was right. Jets get no respect. CAN'T WAIT!

The Jets have to guard against a letdown after beating the Pats
Beating Brady/Belichick was not the SB in spite of what everyone (including myself) said about the Pats
Kudos for them taking care of business, but going into Pittsburgh won't be easy

Any team that makes the playoffs has a shot to go all the way and win the SB
Look at the Cardinals a few years back, they were a heartbeat away from the win
And nobody thought they had it in them
And Seattle shocking NO didn't put them in the SB, but it shows anything can happen

Teams that are expected to win rarely do
Teams that are disrespected seem to play with more intensity (Giants over Pats)

You can't go on that old characterization anymore. You buried New England in their house. People respect your team. Now all that's left is getting your second Super Bowl ring.

Green Bay wasn't getting respect but after what they did to Atlanta, lack of respect is no longer an issue.

The only team going into this final four that could use a little more respect are the Bears.

With Philly, Atlanta, New Orleans, Indy, and New England out, the four teams left (who all had their naysayers and for good reasons) have earned respect from those who went with more successful regular season teams.

Ummm, you must have missed this post...
Only 3 of the 14 picks were for ATL
I'd say the Packers were getting a LOT of respect before the ATL game
In fact, the Packers were being praised all of the way down the stretch

Lotta love out there for the Packers over the Falcons

Thanks for the link. I saw otherwise from just reading other sources, hearing commentators, and the general feeling of the season praising Atlanta.

I think GB's victory game them the full respect they deserved and they proved they were more than just a pretty good record. They also showed everybody they are not the typical #6 team going into a playoff.

I could think of a few things which made Atlanta so great. Their record for one, especially at home. There are a few players football watchers can now focus on, and probably ones we won't stop hearing from. Their coach is praised all the time.

There is no fluke in the game that one of the commentators, on national TV, said the Atlanta coach and QB would see many rings in the future. It sounds oddly like when a guy named Joe Montana, with coach Walsh, took the 49ers to a victory over the Bengals in Super Bowl 16.

Atlanta has all the makings of the next dynasty, but I will add so does Green Bay right now. Who will be the big team of the 2010's? In dynasty I mean 1970s Steelers, '80s 49ers, '90's Cowboys, and '00's Patriots, all with at least three rings in one decade as well as being a tough team to beat in the years they didn't win it all. The Falcons didn't just slip into home field advantage or beat weak teams to get their record. They are a genuinely scary team.

couple of observations:

You have to give all kinds of credit to the GB packers with all the injuries they had this season you'd think they would have folded but Aaron Rodgers is a beast and that defense kept them afloat, now they're on fire in the playoffs

Say what you will about the man but Rex Ryan is a genius I noticed that in his press conferences before the Pats game he put all the pressure on himself saying that the game was personal between him and belichik..... after the game he gave all the praise to the players saying that they got the job done.... Who wouldn't want to play hard for someone like that?

Dude, you seriously need to drop that statistic. I'll say it again. GB was 10-6 with 6 sliver thin losses. Seattle was 7-9 and generally needed a LOT of help to make the playoffs but were techinically "ranked" higher in the NFC playoffs because they won their extremely weak division whereas GB took second in a much tougher division (and BTW had a MUCH tougher schedule). The fact that they were #6 means less than zero. I just think you're focusing too much on the number 6 and what everybody thought when in fact nobody thought Seattle was better than Green Bay.

Anyone, else noticing that the fact that the NFL's oldest and most notable rivalry is reshaping in the NFC championship game this year? Seems not to be making much news with the Jets making all the news.

279 NFL players were asked “For Which Other Coach Would You Like To Play?”

Almost a quarter of players picked the New York Jets’ coach Rex Ryan (21%), followed by the Pittsburgh Steelers’ coach Mike Tomlin (12%), the New Orleans Saints’ coach Sean Payton (9%), the Tennessee Titans’ coach Jeff Fisher (8%) and the New England Patriots’ coach Bill Belichick (7%).

Excellent!

I bet that 21% included every guy on the roster of the NY Giants. :D

I enjoyed them immensely. Have been part of my library since they aired.

Dude, you seriously need to drop that statistic. I'll say it again. GB was 10-6 with 6 sliver thin losses.

A loss is a loss and last time I checked, that's how it's judged in football. Until a different way comes out and perhaps disqualifies a team like Seattle for only winning 7, or gives extra weight to teams who scored more points or who won by more points, nothing will change the fact that GB had 6 losses.

That being said, it won't be strange if they win it all. If I remember correctly, there was this 10-6 team called the NY Giants who did a pretty good job in the playoffs not too long ago. :)

No hate from me ... his home record is not a fluke. His one bad game came at the worst time.

The guy is an elite QB ... I wish we had Matt Ryan in Dallas

Talk radio and the papers are working him over pretty good
Like he is the sole reason the team lost
Apparently they missed the part about the defense being swiss cheese
But instead they just sing the praises of Aaron Rodgers instead and give the defense a pass

but you're trying to make it seem like EVERYone thought it was such a HUGE upset that #6 GB beat powerhouse #1 atlanta when, as macdawgs attachment has shown you, that is simply not the case. :p /rant

they also seem to be forgetting that he was up against a top ranked defense firing on all cylinders when it counted most :p

Talk radio thrives off of controversy ... unfortunately MacDawg ... the Falcons for whatever reason just did not come to play that day. It really was not how good GBs offence was ... more of a lack of execution by the Falcons.

I say in a fantasy sense ...if they were to play that game again ... Atlanta wins.

IMO ... Chicago will send GB home this weekend ... as per the old saying ... Defence wins Championships.

And I like the Jets again ... being the sole team to return to the AFC or NFC finals ... I think the Jets are winning the Superbowl this year.

I've got a cool wooden nickel worth your opinion :p but time will tell

Who did you think was going to win that game and why?

I knew GB was going to win because of how well the defense has been playing and the offense finally coming together after facing so much early season adversity. you're a numbers guy right? rodgers numbers says it all and now that they have a fairly legitimate running game in starks anything can happen.

I think chicago is going to come to play just because this is such a historic rivalry. Oldest and most fierce in the NFL that goes back even way before Lombardi (you know, the guy the super bowl trophy is named after?) :p

anyway, as I've said all along, all this postulating and opinion making over who will win is obviously pointless, albeit a fun exercise :p
