Neither look like an NFL team right now. This is downright scary with defenses missing everything in sight yet offenses unable to cash in.

Win or lose, if this is what the Patriots are up to, then there's no way they can take on the Steelers. However, every team is entitled to one poor game if they win. I say this uncharacteristic New England game is just a bad day. Typical Tom Brady would be up to 28 points by now if not more.

We saw an uncharacteristically bad day by Atlanta but in their case it cost them the game. My guess is that this NY-NE game isn't over until the bell because if anybody left on the AFC side can come back with having to get two scores left in the second half, it's New England. It's not as if they are as behind as far as the other #1 seed was in the GB-Atl game.

The Jets don't look like an NFL team? Are we watching the same game?

I really hope Brady is feeling this Jets defence ... I saw him grimace on that last sack.

Go Jets

Yes, the Jets can't hit their receivers and Brady, well, I won't say anything.

Both teams don't look like the teams they were leading up to this game.

We are 42 minutes into this game and nobody has 120 yards passing and the best either team has it 14 points? Now this would make sense with real defense which I am not seeing. Sometimes a game could be low scoring because both offenses are not playing up to par. This happens and with nearly 3 quarters played, it's a story of neither being the threat they have been all season.

This was a slow start and there is always 4th quarter to look forward to. The Jets are not way ahead and in the last quarter I think NE can wake up, pull ahead, and win this one. It's not beyond Brady's capabilities.

He has to hit receivers for a TD, like he has all year with strong coverage. They are open, come on!

OK, EDIT: :)

Tom has to get a TD and get team with field goal range, too. With 12 minutes and change, it's not impossible and the season has come down to these 12 minutes for New England's offense to play like they have for a decade: it's just one TD and one within field goal range.

I would put that TD catch by Holmes on the NFL Films highlight reel ... still seeing great Jets NFL Football here.

Go Jets

Yes in that Sanchez is at 3 TDs, but still less than 200 yards on the day.

But Brady is not the Brady I have seen all these years with just one TD and it being already the 4th quarter. Something has to give. If any team has the discipline to have a one quarter season, it's the Patriots on the AFC side of the coin.

Kudos to the Jets for coming to play regardless of how the game turns out
I didn't think they had it in them

With the Pats playing like they have most of this game, the SF 49ers could have beat them. :p

It's under 6 min with TD, field goal, and 2 pt. conversion to tie, so there has to be an onside kick if NYJ use up the clock in a time hog.

Brady not's being Brady because the Jets pass coverage has been pretty damn great.

Many QBs have good games with under 200 yds ... it is not always about throwing for 300 yds to qualify as a good day.

as for Brady ... he is being pounded by the Jets defence.

The Jets are playing well on both sides of the ball ... Go Jets

Now I see Jets covering the pass well. But what explains the first three quarters?

I don't know what this is with Brady throwing the ball away with open receivers. It could be the Jets are breathing right down his neck and coming into his zone quickly. Pressure the QB.

Exactly ... it is not like he is Big Ben willing to take a beating ... Brady is not a tough QB ... doesn't like to be hit.

Can't wait to hear from Rex ... Great Jets Game ... should be good in Pittsburgh.

You could be right about Brady. You don't have to touch a QB but if you could sufficiently get close enough and scare him, the pressure could throw off his timing. Not only were his passes off, he didn't even see the open man/men. Even when he went for the clean pass, he found a way to flub up a few of those. Brady was right there for TDs several times with little coverage on his receivers. The Jets must have spooked him bad, and that's probably pressure. It's the only thing I can imagine, because otherwise, it just didn't look like the Brady I know. This loss was probably as bad as the loss the Pats had in the Super Bowl when they lost against the Giants.

I do agree at least this is the biggest game for the Jets since Super Bowl III as their coach told the press.

This will be fun. We have #6 Jets against #2 Steelers for AFC champion.

Likewise, we have #6 Packers against #2 Bears for NFC champion.

To see two #1 seeds go down like this is probably a first. Who would have thought last week that both Atlanta and New England would lose? This makes it fun.

The former dynasty was the 2000s Pats hands down with three rings/four SB appearances and the new one may very well be the 2010s Falcons (as announcers said yesterday saying Atlanta's QB and coach should pick up many Super Bowls together in the future). My guess is that they suspected a possibility of three or four shots at the Lombardi Trophy, but not "many" Super Bowl rings as they stated. But maybe they are that confident in Atlanta's chances over the next decade.

Atlanta from now into the future was likened to how some saw the Pats looked to be at the beginning of the previous decade. Fair enough with what the Pats showed us in 2001 and what the Falcons showed us this year. It's as close to a safe guess as any I have heard the announcers call. That sounds about right.

But the shot at the upcoming SB next month isn't for the Falcons. Who the heck is one to pick for this Super Bowl champion? Will we see two #6 playoff teams meet each other in February? It's not that unlikely judging from the bizarre stuff we have seen in this postseason.

All the talk about Philly/Vick, New England/Brady, Atlanta, Indy, New Orleans, and look who is left standing.

Jets sacked him 5 times and hit him 7 others. He was hurrying his passes in the second half.

...hurrying his passes? you think? ;)

You guys earned your shot, and now you have the Steelers. I am liking your odds. Congrats.

If you get past the Steelers, then you have to face either GB or the Bears, who both look scarier than this years Steelers.

But you put Indy away, and now the Pats which shows you either beat the teams with the best QBs, or merely the best QBs who represented a previous era in football.

Big Ben is tough to contain when he's on, but if you can sack him 5 times, you have a chance. One game at a time and this has proved to be good for you.

Biggest game since Super Bowl III? Next week's game is just as big as SB III, too. But winning today shut up any remaining naysayers of the Jets. Nobody in their right mind has any right to doubt your team as you have been to postseason more than a few times now unlike the teams I watch.

Love to see Brady and Company loose. But I wanted them to win since I think they have the best chance at beating the Pittsburgh. Should be a good game next week if the Jets can keep it up!

your posts are making me laugh man because you keep inSISTing on bringing up numbers and announcer's opinions etc :p You already have the Falcons as the next dynasty of the 2010's!!! ROFLCOPTER

I'll say it again, yes the Packers were a #6 seed but do you REALLY think that means ANYthing??? the Seahawks got in at 7-9 and were seeded higher because they won their crap division.

LOLZ just ridin ya a little man but all your stats and "experts" forecasts have given you a rather poor prediction record in this years playoffs :p ;)

I would have thought Brady and company would have clocked the Jets, and would have no problem whatsoever with the Steelers. But the unpredictable nature of football has really shown itself off in a grand fashion this postseason with 7-9 Seattle getting in, Atlanta losing to GB, and now the Pats losing the the Jets.

Just a reminder ... this is now Back to Back AFC Championship games for the Jets

They lost to the Colts in the AFC game last year ... The Jets are for real and should give Pittsburgh a good game next week.

The Jets could very well win it all ... Go Jets

I should stop listening to the experts. The problem is my gut instincts also believe in #1 teams like Atlanta and New England. Did you think both would lose? And yes, strange that it's also in a year that a 7-9 team won a division, too. :D

Just about everything I knew about football has been tossed out the window. It used to be you could see a team with the best record in the conference to at least advance one game in. I don't make a living doing this but I wonder what the announcers have to say as they get paid the big bucks to talk up teams with good odds like Atlanta and the Pats. This has been the strangest year I have seen in pro football.

No you guys suck. You have been to postseason only six years in ten! Man, what I would give to see my team do that. Again, congrats.

Not sure I would call Green Bay over the Falcons much of an upset in light of the fact that most of the talking heads picked Green Bay, but you would have been hard pressed to find anyone picking Seattle over New Orleans or the Jets over the Pats.

You never know from week to week which team will show up. That's the issue with my Falcons. You DO know which team will show up. They have no creativity to keep you guessing, and particularly our defense never dominates a game. I am grateful for the Birds, but I hope we address the defense this off season (that is what they have said the past 2 seasons).

I like Green Bay over Chicago handily. They seem to be on a roll now.

Jets and Steelers should be a great game now, depending on which team shows up. But for the Jets to go on the road to beat Manning, Brady and Roethlisberger, well, that will be some "feet". :p
