Brady = unanimous league MVP
Vick = comeback player of the year

Good choices?
Yes.

MVP almost always goes to a QB. Brady was clearly the best QB this year. Once the dust settled, I don't think anyone else was even close.

Vick went from a guy who was a backup last year because of jail and suspension, to a guy who was a legitimate MVP candidate until about week 15. I can't imagine anyone had a bigger comeback.

Superbowl=boring. Commercials during the Superbowl=best thing ever.

/thread.

When my teams are not in it, or the teams everybody expected to make it (Pats and Falcons this year), then the game is boring to me. I have to agree that the commercials are always a good thing.

I am going to go shopping and do errands today and watch the Super Bowl commercials later on youtube. This year, there is nothing worth watching for me. I may have been mildly amused if the Jets made it, but without the local Raiders on the AFC, or at least the Pats in what I think would have been a great retirement game for Brady, it's no fun. And without the 49ers, my local favorite, or the Falcons, to put a finish on what was a great regular season, there's nobody on that side worth watching for me.

As for a great player riding off into the sunset in their last game after a long career, I think almost nothing can beat Jerome Bettis in his last game, being the Super Bowl, and winning it. I thought he could have gone another year or two, but the way 33 year old Bettis ended his career was just right. Though I am obviously not a Steelers fan since I am not tuning in today, I did see Bettis' last game and it was great to see a longtime player like him end his career in such a great way. No matter how many rings you win, or how many records you break, nothing is more perfect than playing just one more game and having it be a Super Bowl victory.

This will be a great game, Jerry World in it self is a great setting as I do think it is the best stadium in the league. You have 2 great story lines, Will Rogers win his first and be on the road to better Favre in Championships. Will Roethlisberger tie Brady with 3 championships, not to mention his off the field problems. These 2 teams should make for a great game and it should be a lot more competitive than the past few Super Bowls have been.

As for Brady retiring, I don't see that happening.

Here's what I see with Brady. He will obviously go on since I think he wants that 4th ring to put him with his childhood hero, Joe Montana...just a guess.

But here's what I think will happen (as it did to Young, Warner, and Theisman). He will be considered a credible NFL threat yet whether his team gets in the SB or not, he has seen his last days holding up the trophy and the torch will be passed to others.

I could make a good argument for Young or Bettis or Aikman or Sanders for having gone even just one more, but even legends like these guys with their good and consistent stats had to finally hang it up. I don't know about NE's coach, but it's possible he may never know what it's like to win the SB again, either.

People think just because they have been there and done it that it's somehow easier to go a whole year, do well, get in the playoffs and do well, go to the SB and then win. I don't think Brady has it in him to win one more. Though I have not seen him go through low lows year after year (though getting injured badly and losing in his last SB were pretty bad), he has mostly seen high highs in his career and few have gone through as much speculation as he has. Is he the best QB of his time, or of all time? Why did his team only win by small margins in the SB? Are the Pats of the 2000s like the 70s Steelers, 80s Niners, or 90s Cowboys? Can he come back from that nearly career ending injury? etc...

And oh yeah (can he do well with the new 2010 squad?) which many didn't consider within screaming distance of a playoff berth.

Had Brady gone in today in the SB, and won, then people could say he's the best ever without much debate against him. Tied for most SBs started as QB. Tied for most rings won as QB. Enviable passing yards, TDs, and win-loss record. It would have been the perfect ending for Brady to be here today, win, and retire as the best QB of all time and have numbers to back that up.

The good thing for Big Ben, as I will agree with you, is that he could get his 3rd ring today and tie him up with Brady as a starting QB with 3 SB rings. While I think Brady has been a better overall QB, the NE quarterback wouldn't look so dominant in his era if Ben can win a third ring today. Somehow, I think the starting QB who will be holding the trophy will be the other guy like Vegas says. :)

I still don't get your obsession with Brady retiring so soon. He has REPEATEDLY (like, more times than I can remember to count) told the media in interviews and press conferences he wants to play until he's 40. He is one of the most competitive players in the NFL. If he would have been playing today, and even if he would have won, he wouldn't retire. He will be the QB for the Pats for AT LEAST the next 6 years. He just loves playing the game too much.

Not to mention.. who the **** would ever retire after just being named the FIRST unanimous MVP in the history of the league? He also became the first player ever to win MVP and OPOTY in the same season twice.

The NFL seems to have screwed up.
Hundreds of Super Bowl ticket holders were told at the door Sunday that “unforeseen circumstances” may prevent them from attending the game.
According to The Associated Press, workers were still installing temporary seats in the level’s west end — three hours before kickoff.

The ticket holders won the chance to buy $600 tickets through a lottery, and would be seated in a section comprised of temporary seats.

“Most of the fans affected will have been accommodated in their seats or relocated to similar or better seats,” The Associated Press reported. CBSDFW.com has left messages with NFL officials. Their response is forthcoming.

After being moved to the Party Plaza, a security worker told Dallas resident Jake Batsell that the fire marshal had not signed off on the temporary sections. Batsell said that some ticket holders yelled “Thanks a lot, Jerry Jones!” as television news crews filmed the confusion.

Officials soon passed out a notice saying that, due to “unforeseen complications … your assigned seat is unavailable for today’s game.”

“So, all this is happening on one side of the area and, on the other side, an NFL guy is telling everybody it’s going to be 30 minutes, and we’ll still get into the game,” Batsell said. “So, no one really knows what the final verdict is at this point.”

Batsell, who was attending the Super Bowl with his father, Gary, said that the notice told them they had received three times the face value for the tickets and entry to the hospitality area, which is where the group was moved after trying to get into the stadium. “It’s a sealed off area. There are tables, heaters, vans, there’s concessions around here. It looks like it’s going to be a private entertainment area,” Batsell said. “Maybe they let us in early or something, I don’t know.”

But according to a statement released by the NFL, the league is working to accommodate Batsell and others like him with seats elsewhere in the stadium. Batsell said many of those affected had the letter ‘A’ attached to their section.

“We’ll stay first, one way or another,” Batsell said. “We probably couldn’t get into the start of the game anyway.”
And, “believe it or not, people are still buying souvenirs,” Batsell added.

Go Steelers ... Big Ben, show these 6th seed Packers why you are 10-2.

OMG is she an absolutely awful singer. Perhaps it's my conservatory music training bias that makes me not able to listen to someone scream a song.

GO PACK!!!!!!!!

Yes it is your conservatory music training that causes you to feel like you do ... Pat Boone would have been a better choice for your taste.

You probably think Etta James and Janis Joplin are awful too
