Congrats to the Packers
But I am already weary of the Aaron Rodgers is better than Favre and is the best QB evar!!11 talk
FWIW the Eagles, the Bears and the Steelers all had the ball with 2 minutes left in the game with a chance to win and the defense won the games for the Packers, not Rodgers
Take away the 3 turnovers and the 21 points they gave to the Packers and Rodgers has no chance to win this game and be the MVP
Let the hype machine rage on Rodgers
He is a good QB, but he had never won a playoff game till this year
Let him prove it over a career before he is anointed
Anyway, congrats to the Packers
Let's hope they get the CBA done and we have a season next year
I agree with that.
While Favre is not at his most popular now, he has amazing career numbers. Sure he should have retired a long time ago, but even then after his first retirement announcement, he had a legacy. Rodgers, while promising, is only getting started. I have no doubt we will see him in the playoffs in years to come.
Let's see if Rodgers can keep up the wins, QB rating, and have long term consistency before we put him in the same sentence as Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, or Brett Favre.
The best that can be said of Green Bay is that they won the first SB of this new decade and before they are called a new dynasty, they will have to pick up two more rings with some of the same guys on their crew in the next ten years. Green Bay has a tough path ahead of them with a re-energized Philly, the Falcons, the Jets, and what is on paper a possible future threat with the Cowboys.
This GB squad has a tough legacy of decades past to live up to. The Pats had 3 Super Bowl wins in the previous decade in a just a four year period in the early 2000s, the Cowboys had 3 before that in the 1990s in just as short a time, the 49ers 4 in '80s, and the Steelers 4 in the '70s. At least with Green Bay taking the first two Super Bowls in the 1960s under their own dynasty, it is nice for them to see the trophy come back to their town.
Yesterday's game showed us once again the changing of the guard of who is powerful in the NFL.
With losses in postseason by Indy, NE, and now the Steelers in the SB, those powerhouses of the previous decade showed us nothing lasts forever. Also with 3 out of the past 4 Super Bowls going to the NFC, the long dominance of the AFC winning the big game is over.
The power has shifted once again back to the NFC and also to younger players/teams just as it had when the previous dynasty of the Patriots got their start and put away former dynasties as Brady and company, along with the AFC in general, put away the dreams of the NFC cornerstones of the Cowboys, 49ers, Packers, Redskins, Giants, and the rest of that conference who were so hot in the 1990s and before in many cases.
What I hope to see are some great, talented QBs shoot it out in Rodgers vs. Sanchez in a Super Bowl, or Sanchez vs. Ryan in what I hope to be a new group of young QBs fighting it out. I also expect some great action from Cutler and Romo, too. Anyway, it will be fun to see some new, dominant faces at QB and see some fearsome defense from the Pack take everybody on. They were really impressive last night on defense.
