Bad deal for the NFL and its players because anything Bose is just plain awful! Also, I don't think many of the players will conform to this due to the popularity of the Beats brand. They're good for what they're designed to do and I own a pair but I also own better cans that are made by Hifiman which are designed for more critical listening.

Apple really missed the mark with this marketing opportunity to increase the market's awareness to the Beats brand.

Blanket stupidity is stupid. Bose makes plenty of good products. I'll go out on a limb and say you haven't used a single one of them. Sit on a plane next to a screaming baby with and without a set of their Quiet Comforts and report back to me thanks.

Even within the context of professional sports, which would seem to be the essence of "competition", all Apple's competition can think to do—instead of actually competing by producing better quality products—is to "restrict."

Now that's lame and that's sad.

Eh, the NFL has done worse - like using Surface tablets as their "official" device. Every time I open the NFL app on W8 it never works as intended, showing me a huge highlight video instead of the things I really want (like fantasy football stats).

Regardless, Sherman is still way too full of himself.

Roll model? Yeah, right - if you're a little boy and think you'll be like Rich if you wear Beats.

Roll model? Yeah, right - if you're a teenage boy & like to dish out the trash talk & impress the girls.

Role model? Yeah, right - if you're an out of control male & love to beat your way to anything even with Roger looked to the side. ;)

That's your opinion and I have mine! Yes, I have owned a pair and thought they were terrible for the various types of music that I like to listen to.;)

Can't wait to pair my Beats with my new iPhone 6 Plus (if it ever comes)!

I wonder what happens if the athlete has a contract that states they will wear Beats headphones at the game when the NFL's contract says they cannot.

I smell lawyers.
Agreed, if the NFL deal with Bose supersedes the individual contracts the players have with Beats, then Apple should legally be able to recoup any monies paid out to the players.

NFL Players Banned From Wearing Beats Headphones on Camera

'Wow, good for the NFL for doing something about the in-your-face marketing and somewhat rude trend of wearing enormous headphones during interviews and games.'

Thanks to a new marketing deal with Bose...

'Oh.'

For better or worse, this reminds me of Samsung's attempt to ban iPhones and iPads, or at least have athletes cover up Apple logos at the Sochi winter olympics, after Samsung reportedly dropped Galaxy Note 3 smartphones in athletes' goodie-bags.

Odd......seems like Beats would be the perfect fit for the NFL & Players.
ZING!!!

Thank You, try the veal

Meh, big deal. Bose is a big time sponsor of the NFL this year. You'll notice all the coaches are wearing Bose headsets. Used to be Motorola. There are several TV spots for Bose during NFL games I've seen too. I think it's totally within their rights to not have all of their advertising dollars diluted by other employees wearing competing brands.

It would be the same if Nike sponsored a team and one of the players showed up in Addidas.

In fact, I would not be surprised that Apple--which now owns the Beats brand of products--may seriously contemplate a lawsuit against the NFL over this. And the NFL better watch out: Apple lawyers have a LOT of experience dealing with legal issues (e.g., the spat with Google over Android) and they have potentially much deeper pockets than Bose and the NFL legal teams combined.

We use to have a saying back when i sold high end audio, "No highs, no lows, must be Bose." Not saying Beats are better, but Bose is over priced and over hyped themselves.

I'll give you over-priced, but over-hyped? I've rarely seen Bose advertisements in media, they seem rather quiet when it comes to their products. I hear more from people out to bash them at every turn. I'm not defending their products, but do they really warrant so much hate?
Yes, this is the MR forum where haters hang out in high concentration. Apple could cut the price of iPhones by $300 and they'd still find something to whine about. It is only natural that they also hate the success of companies like Beats and Bose.

Well, they certainly like to hand out beatings.

Beats early and previous generation of products was absolute GARBAGE

The new stuff, like the wireless Studios, and Solo 2s, along with the Powerbeats 2 wireless are actually good products! They have recieved good reception from some of the more critical reviewers as well. They aren't super flimsy and muddled with only bass these days.....

While they did suck in the past, they are fairly good now!

Exactly! They're not that good with high end audio. It's about their marketing because you see it everywhere.

That's the most interesting part of this. Can a league deal force the players to possibly violate individual contracts, sponsorship and endorsements?

I have not tried beats in over a year. Maybe I will gave to check a more recent pair out.

I'm sure they worked something out prior to the announcement.

Based on this NFL telling it's players what to use or not use, could Chevy sigh a sponsorship contract with NASCAR that banned Ford from the track?

Dale

Yet those players will be going to back to using Beats once the cameras are off..much like all celebrity endorsers of Android phones going back to their iPhones after they tweet about the Android phones they endorsed from their iPhones..

If that could somehow stop Keselowski and Logano from doing so well I'd be all for it. :p

Then again, they're both excellent drivers so meh, just going to have to get over their skill level lol

Apple should've bought Bose instead. At least their products are decent.

…..For sound quality Buy Other Sound Equipments
Beats are not better at all.

Without wanting to appear to endorse Beats for their sound quality, to all the 'Bose is better than Beats' people, I'd like to remind you of the fact Bose is very scant in publishing any meaningful tech specs such as true Frequency response
(within plus or minus x# of dBs), Dynamic range, THD or the like, and for a good reason.

Their equipment, including speakers and headphones, has a distinct sound quality that's heavily hyped and marketed, and seems 'pleasant' at first, but is far from natural, uncolored or unbiased.
