Colts vs Ravens. This one should be good.

Jest vs Chargers. Hmmmmmm

There ain't no justice.:mad::mad: Jets did their part by beating the Bungles. But then Brady's Bunch just curled up and dyed. I wanted Jets vs Indy Dolts topped with a Jets victory. Teams that allow other teams to back up into the Playoffs should be knocked off by those very teams. The Bungles learn that lesson this year.

I'm going to be a Ravens fan for a week.;) Go new Baltimore, beat old Baltimore.:D

I was telling my wife the same thing yesterday. I think it would be funny if the Colts got put out by the Jets after essentially throwing the game and granting them a chance at the post season. Maybe Alanis could write a song about it. ;)

What do you all think of the chances for Dallas this weekend?

My guess on the other three games is that there will be three games where the winner wins by at least 14 points, and it's pretty easy to guess who I think will win. EDIT: (NO over AZ by 31 points in the 4th so that's no surprise).

But I think Dallas will either win or lose by 3 points or less and this game will be entertaining. While it's an outside chance at best, Dallas can go all the way and it will be a way for the highest rated Dallas QB to get the monkey off his back. Romo may possibly retire with a higher passer rating than Steve Young but Romo needs that ring to be on the short list of the best of all time.

However, that being said, many still consider Dan Marino the best there ever was, even without a ring and his numbers are hard to refute. Joe Montana still maintains that Marino is the greatest ever in his QB history book.

And no I am not a Dallas or Miami fan, especially since being a 49er guy, we went against Miami in the SB and Dallas killed our chances at two extra rings. Somehow, if Romo and Dallas gets past this round, they can gain momentum as he's been throwing in the mid-90s for some time now.

If Romo gets the time in the pocket that he had last Sat nite, then it will be a long game for the Vike's secondary. Being in the dome, you have to wonder how Flozell "Mr. False Start" Adams will do with the crowd noise. One question. Does Childress know he has Adrian Peterson? 54,94 and 34 yards rushing in his last three games..
As far as GOAT (greatest of all time),it's never good comparing different eras. Today's game is different than it was 10,20,30 years ago etc. The rules are different, style of play is different, size of the players etc..Just look at the way today's NFL heavily favors the offense...

Very true indeed.

It's just kind of fun to compare stats just for the numbers. Where an older era would have even a great passer hand off the ball more, it would be exciting to see Romo retire one day with both a Super Bowl ring and a 97.0 passer rating. But I am a numbers guy so I like things like that. I know there are players with not so great stats who have done really well in the playoffs and Super Bowl, and some players who didn't peak until late in their careers.

Well if you put some of today's high powered offenses against some of the great defenses of the past (Steel Curtain,85/86 Bears,2000 Ravens) with the same rules as then,I think the D's would win out..More often than not, a solid D will beat a solid offense.Seriously, the rules have handcuffed the defenses today..Don't even get me started on pass interference.
As shown today, you can only win a shootout so many times..Especially in the post season. Arizona had no D whatsoever. Maybe they left it all on the field last week..That being said,if there was ever a fanbase that could use a SB winner,it would be the Saints. I remember the days of the "Aints" and the brown bags...

I remember Madden and co. saying good D always beats good O in the Super Bowl, and while probably not the case 100% percent of the time, I know what they meant.

Those Bears were incredible in their day. Good times, music video and all. :)

True..And hopefully the league will tilt it back to a more balanced rule book..
That being said,Cowher should be back in the NFL coaching. The Bears,Texans, Bucs,Panthers etc come to mind...

It was funny when either Brown or Simms (or one of those guys) asked about Cowher going back to coaching, and it was almost as if he was going to sock them. I would much rather get paid well in a less stressful analyst job instead of being a head coach, dealing with micromanaging owners, and probably lose and then get fired. He left coaching with a good legacy intact. Something that can't be said of other great coaches who remained and ended with a losing team, or getting blamed for everything.

I so miss Coach Mariucci of the 49ers and I hated the way his career ended.

Big blue big blue! Great matchup so far...both teams are playing very well defensively. Colts finally started to come out at the end of the second quarter. Anxious for the second half - more points for the Horses I hope

EDIT: Game over :) Jets or Chargers? Either way, we'll be waiting :D

NFC

New Orlean's domination of the Cardinals was surprising to me
The Saints had not played well down the stretch, but they looked good today
The NFC matchup next week should be really good

I hope the Cowboys beat the Vikings
I was a Favre fan for years, but I have grown weary of his drama and self importance
Now that the 'Boys have cleaned up the locker room, I can actually root for them

AFC

The Ravens did not play well on offense and their penalties, mistakes and turnovers killed them
You could just feel the Ed Reed fumble coming as you watched Garcon gain on him
I still think the Colts can be had... and will be had... next week

The Chargers are the hottest team in the league and they have a ton of weapons
The Jets have the best defense and can run the ball
Should be a great game
I don't really care who wins, as long as the winner beats the Colts next week

Watch out Chargers (or Jets)! Colts are back.

I wish all 4 bi-week teams would survive.

Hope for the Jets. Stop the run then you have beat the Jets. The Chargers have the ability to take on Indy on several dimensions, and if tonight was the best Indy can do, then it may be close. But I have a feeling Indy will come out fast in their next game.

Believe me, I am hoping for the Jets, haha. If for nothing else, then to give them a chance to play our starters (unlike our previous matchup). Colts had a late start in this game so if they can come right out of the gate bangin' on all cylinders, then I think we'll be in good shape, bet it the Chargers or the Jets.

Bolts vs. Colts has a ring to it though...

What I can see as a likely scenario is that the Bolts lose to the Colts by a few points where Manning makes a heroic 4th quarter comeback and makes the cover of sports magazines/national magazines. But I can also see a very hungry Saints meeting up with the Colts in the Super Bowl and the Saints playing the game of their franchise history and handily beating Indianapolis.

I don't have a stake in this but something tells me that this year, and from early in the season as many have said, seem to think that this year is possibly a destiny run for the Saints. Formerly bad teams with terrible luck in big games like the 49ers, Rams, Bucs, Broncos, and Patriots have become serious teams at different times in history when they were previously thought of as fodder.

Sorry, but I am about as tired of the media ascribing "god-like" status to Manning as I am the hype around Tebow in college

There has been some great QB play in the NFL this year

Brees
Warner
Romo
Rivers
and yes, even Favre

Manning's always been a media darling ever since he got into the NFL..If I remember correctly, even at Tenn?..Just look at the amount of commercials he does..You can barely go a tv break w/o seeing one..There's been some phenomenal QB play this year, esp the last few weeks..You can be sure if Romo had a rough December or coughed up a fur ball last week,it would be front page news and the media would be all over it.

Best thing Mangini did for the Jets, besides getting fired, was trading up and getting Revis. Going to be fun watching him against Jackson..

Agreed. He is a pleasure to watch every week. He was robbed for NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

On Tuesday, a major crime was committed, a man by the name of Darrelle Revis, was robbed of the defensive mvp award.

It wasn’t even close either, Revis had 14 votes Charles Woodson had 28.

But Rex Ryan obviously was not happy as he said “You know what I would like? I would like to congratulate the people who voted for Darrelle Revis, that these guys obviously really know the game. You’ve got to look at the numbers, not just a number about this or a number about that, this stat or that stat.”

I am not going to take anything away from Woodson, he had a great year racking up nine interceptions and 74 tackles, but lets look at Revis.

Here are some receivers he shutdown for under 35 yards this season: Chad Johnson x2, Andre Johnson, Randy Moss x2, Reggie Wayne. Roddy White, Terrell Owens x2, Marques Colston. As you can see, Revis completely shut down one side of the field in every game.

Revis was thrown at 108 times and only let up 40 receptions, which lead the league, while Woodson let up 40 receptions on 86 targets.

Let’s also look at touchdowns let up, Revis let up only two touchdowns on the whole season while Woodson let up six. Revis also gave up less reception yards with 439 while Woodson let up 560 yards.

Revis also had more of an impact on his defense. First off, the Jets were the number one defense in the league in large part due to Revis. The Jets also only let up eight touchdown passes all season, the Packers, 28, not including five they let up against the Cardinals. The Jets were first in passing yards allowed with 153.7 a game: and the Packers? Fifth with 201.1 pass yards per game.

Let’s look at a miserable world without Revis shutting down elite receivers. If the Jets did not have Revis, Rex Ryan would definitely not have as much confidence in his secondary. This means he would not use the blitz schemes they do now because they don’t have someone to completely lock up the opponents number one receiver.

Without the blitz scheme Rex throws, the Jets would not be able to put as much pressure on the QB and stop the run as well. This would make them a decent defense but certainly not the number one defense they are with Revis.

But without the strong defense, the lacking Jets offense have with a developing Mark Sanchez, would have to play catchup more which is hard since the Jets are not built as a team that can come back from a large deficit.

So I think without Revis it is pretty safe to say that the Jets would be nowhere close to the team they are today.

Hmmm.. so why wasn’t Revis the defensive MVP? I guess you have to ask 28 people that.

So what do you think? Was Revis robbed? Did Woodson deserve it?

Let me know down below!
