Did any of them beat the undefeated powerhouse team of their respective decades?

I really think that had more to do with an elite Giants defense and a "several missed tackles, thrown up for grabs, pinned against the helmet, how in the world did that happen" catch than it did the play of an elite NFL quarterback

How about we stick to reality and not the land of make believe?

The land of make believe was thinking that Manning could do it by himself. As pointed out earlier, the Colts ran their prize horse into the ground.

In football, it takes a team to win, which also includes good coaching and good management. I know you know this. :)

That means it takes a strong offense and a strong defense and it's hard to get to the Super Bowl severely lacking in either one. So many people on the internet were convinced, due to Peyton's big numbers in his whole career, that he was somehow guaranteed more than 30 points. I think I was the only one, or one of a very few that predicted Manning would get less than 30 points. But I also expected the Saints to get than 30 points also. I made this speculation of Indy getting less than 30 points based on how on fire the Saints D have been this year and in the postseason.

Few paid attention to how the Saints intimidated Favre, or maybe thought they wouldn't flub up another great quarterback (like an experienced Favre like legend, umm, maybe Peyton Manning) yet again. Well, in the Super Bowl the Saints defense delivered. Why would the Saints deliver against Favre and then fail to deliver against Manning?

While it's a simplistic generalization that John Madden often repeats, it usually true that good defense always beats good offense.

Veteran RB's released

The Chargers released LT and the Eagles released Westbrook. I'm not surprised about LT with all the attention that was getting in the press, but the Westbrook move is surprising with all of the McNabb rumors going around. I guess they think McCoy is ready to handle the full time load after seeing him perform last year.

And another… :(

Jets Plan To Release Thomas Jones

According to ESPN.com, RB Thomas Jones will not restructure his contract and will be released this week. Jones, who will become a free agent March 5, was slated to receive a $3M roster bonus March 9 and a $2.8M base salary in 2010.

Jones, who has played the last three seasons for the Jets, rushed for 1,402 yards and 14 TDs on 331 carries last season. He also led the AFC with 1,312 rushing yards and 13 TDs in 2008.

Jones, 32, considerably slowed down by the end of the season and pretty much became expendable with the emergence of rookie RB Shonn Greene, who lead the league in rushing in the playoffs.

^^^ I just read about the Jones thing today and I've got to admit I'm kinda shocked. With a run heavy offense, this could come back to bite the Jets.

Thomas Jones was nowhere to be found in the playoffs. Shone Greene has emerged as a very capable back. If Leon Washington returns healthy, it could be very dangerous.

That's why I don't like the move. IF Washington returns healthy. Broken fibulas are serious. Not to mention he led the league on rushing 2 years ago and was #3 last season.

I guess I just see this as, "why mess with a good thing"? It worked very well last year and I don't think anyone available right now will give them what Jones could in the same general price range.

J-E-T-S Jets! Jets! Jets!

I'll be sporting various Jet 'tars on weekends, starting with this. :D
