Pokemon Go losing steam? The 2020 Revenue was the most ever. It's earned more revenue every year.
You have to know that’s because niantic created “remote” raiding and remote passes are not the same as regular raid passes so you have to buy them separately. Niantic only sells remote passes in bundles of 3 where the regular passes are bundled in 16 or more.

Niantic has made a huge amount of money from remote features and they all came during Covid.

I don't play the game myself, but my general understanding from talking to people who still play is that most people turn the AR off. It doesn't seem to add anything to the gameplay and (I suspect) it actually distracts from the game.
It was always an assumption but I turned it off because I imagined the drain on battery would be exponentially higher. I only played when it first got popular before you could battle and trade or even have a Pokémon with you (That was a coming feature when I faded off), so I don’t know if it got better, but the game itself even without an “always on” camera was a battery hog.

That was my reason.
