My Nifty MiniDrive Retina turned up today :)

However I may need to get it exchanged, seems to have been slightly bent (probably in shipping) so doesn't sit completely flush and is a bit tough to get in/out :(

Where?

So how many on here have their Nifty Drive? Lots of posts on the nifty site to say not received yet, or bad build if they have, wrong size sent, cards will only 'Read Only' when inserted into mac in nifty.
Anyone here have experiences to share????:(:(

Are you supossed to sign up as a backer to get one of these, even though the campaign has met it's goals? I would think that they would have a viable web site by now.

I was interested, can't seem to get them to contact me back. Any idea how? I filled out their simple contact form.

I didn't sign up as a backer, but you could preorder from them a couple months or so before Christmas. My drive turned up on Monday - looks ok, but not tested it yet as micro SD card from Amazon isn't due to show up until next Monday - so fingers crossed.

Nifty Drive - wrong model sent.

My Nifty Drive arrived two weeks ago after a couple of months wait - however although the package and delivery note said "Air" it is the shape and model for the "Pro" with rounded ends. My 3 e-mails (so far) to them about it are being ignored and I am really fed up with them. Great idea - rubbish customer service.

this is better.
I'm probably getting this because Nifty isn't apparently making new stock...

That's just one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/170957874785?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

That guy just chops off the USB connector and adds a piece of tape, charges $20 and takes a week or two to get it to you. I bought two of the $3 adapters off ebay, and cut the USB connectors off with scissors, and supplied my own tape :). The first one didn't work, but the second did. I may switch up to the adapters off newegg, looks a little safer.

Wow, thank god I didn't order them. thanks

Mine has shipped, still waiting for it to arrive. Hoping for the best but all the negative reports so far don't inspire confidence for getting the right version, and one that works, or for getting even a reply from them if it is faulty. I ordered the card with it.

They're on sale now, 3 for 13.99 through today:

I ordered a set, and I'll see how they fit in my 15" rMBP.

My Apotop adapters came in today. All three work fine, and they don't stick out of my 15" rMBP much at all. I've attached a few pictures. The packaging had a sticker on the back, covering the original specifications. It appeared identical, except it noted that these do not work on the 13" rMBP. I'm guessing there the depth of the slot varies among the various MacBooks, and the 13" Retina must be too deep. Whether it won't work at all, or it's impossible to remove, I don't know. I will say, I think these are the best buy for short microsd adapters today. The Nifty drive seems to be of questionable quality and availability. From it's appearance, the "mini drive" for sale on ebay is an overpriced hacked up SD card adapter. At $13.99 for 3, I'd say the Apotop adapters are worth the money if you want something today to keep a microsd card in your macbook, while maintaining a low profile. Unfortunately, the price has gone back up to $19.99 for 3, but imagine they'll go back on sale at some point or become available from other vendors at different price points.

The battery in my calipers is dead at the moment. If anyone needs to know exactly how far it sticks out, I can post that information once I acquire another battery.

Mine was likely lost during shipment.

I have opted to wait for the Mark 3 as my replacements. Should be here in a few months :p

I got tired of waiting for nifty as it seems it wont be in stock ever again. Also, its as expensive as a 64GB card.

So like many other people i did this with the 2$ adapter. It worked on the first try. so I have one adapter left. :) (i bought two)

I'm going to redo the "take away mechanism" but as you can see it sits completely flush with the retina.

I just need to find a piece of soft plastic like the "generic minidrive" uses. I think i have one lying around from a HD swap or a battery swap from my old laptop. :)

looks good. what did you cut it with, and is it obvious how much you can cut off? i got my nifty drive, and much relieved to find it fits perfectly and works. they didn't supply the card i paid for, but have now refunded for that.

I wanted to order one and tried to contact them twice because I missed the december preorders, but they didn't update anything since forever so I just went ahead and half-assed my own.

I just inserted it in the slot, marked with pencil how much it stands out and cut it off with olfa, sanded off a bit so the plastic doesn't come too fat and it works perfectly. Bidding on ebay for 64GB cards for around 15GP... Its going to cost me around 20euros all together, adapter + 64GB card. :)

You're welcome. It's a shame the guy on ebay that sells these already hacked up for $20 isn't more forthcoming about what he's actually selling.

Bastard! :)

Even better for the pull out plastic (just replacing mine): the cheapo screen-covers for iPhone screen (1$ a piece, when you replace it on your screen you just cut one up for the little plastic thingies, also sticks good with superglue)
