Mobile devices have a garbage software library, and this includes iOS and Android. They are toys at best.
You do know that iOS is the most popular gaming platform of all time, with a library consisting of a magnitude more than all other platforms combined yeah?Mobile devices have a garbage software library, and this includes iOS and Android. They are toys at best.
Give me some good old fashion Mario and I'll be happy.
How can it not be Super Mario Bros.?!
You know, funny you should say that -- Critics of Nintendo typically accuse them of not having 'evolved' the characters or franchise or such.give me mario, nes, snes, n64, gc, wii, wii u version. whatever version but just give me mario

Don't bother responding to that by the way, just refer to my signature.
Yes, but that doesn't help me to play on my phone Mario games legally.
Except we now have 3D Touch so it can work much better. But Mario news can be easily played on an iPhone comfortable. 3 buttons like a sonic game are much more troublesome due to the missing feedback.

The flip side of that, why would a developer that also owns the platform they develop for want to be tossed into the sea of anonymity that putting games on the App Store represents? You do know that iOS is the most popular gaming platform of all time, with a library consisting of a magnitude more than all other platforms combined yeah?

Popular doesn't automatically equal better.
The App Store has a quite a few really nice games, but its surrounded by an absolute ocean of garbage, and unless it's at the top of the most downloaded list or you know what you're looking for, chances of you finding those good titles is slim, unfortunately.
If it's a good game, it'll be known. Plus Nintendo has name recognition. You're really clutching at straws now.
I wasn't necessarily referring to Nintendo being in the App Store, just the App Store's exposure of software in general.
Game critics are over-rated. Most of us gamers have played more games than half the ones possing as critics. Anyways, they might critic but in the end the one game that keeps selling strong no matter the gen is Mario. You know, funny you should say that -- Critics of Nintendo typically accuse them of not having 'evolved' the characters or franchise or such.
That is to say, it is a problem that pretty much every mainline Mario game involves Princess Peach being kidnapped, in one way or another, usually by Bowser. And while the games themselves may be individually unique nothing is actually accomplished because every Mario is "Save the Princess (or -a- princess) and defeat Bowser."
Now, I don't hold that opinion. But, it's amusing to me to compare and contrast comments against observations. Or just read comments outside of their natural area.
So what, doesn't matter if you can't do that because iOS games are only on iOS devices. But Nintendo has opened itself to the universal device market and the market wants Mario. IDK what's your issue w it tbh. I remember even in college I had Mario on my ti calculator. IMO I think you are disappointed that you bought a 3ds.And I can't play iOS games on my 3DS, but I'm not complaining either.
3D Touch doesn't replace a tactile D-Pad and Buttons.
Wait.. People actually think Nintendo is going put core games or ports on the AppStore soon (if at all)??
That's cute.
I bet you used to work at sega when they were marketing the Saturn.Wait.. People actually think Nintendo is going put core games or ports on the AppStore soon (if at all)??

We get it, you like your DS. But you are also completely ignoring the vast and rich catalog of great iOS games. Want tactical turn based combat? Oh, look there's XCOM. Or Warhammer 40K. OK, fine, you want some fantasy? How about Heroes of Might and Magic? Final Fantasy Tactics? Heck, there's even Advance Wars if you want a classic. War themed? Little Great War Game. Panzer Corps. Epic viking story arch with Disney quality animation? Banner Saga. Stylish spy strategy? Subterfuge.Yep, you got me. The 30+ 3DS games on my shelf, absolute disappointments, all of them.
Think of all the wasted hours on the 3DS I could have spent instead on my phone playing Temple Run, Flappy Bird, and Candy Crush.
I mean, **** the deep and satisfying strategy RPG system of Fire Emblem Awakening...I could have been swiping left and right to get a little always-running man through a temple.
And A Link Between Worlds? Garbage game. Nobody likes open world adventure games anymore, I want to match some candy pieces together dammit.
And oh man, don't get me started on Luigi's Mansion. Why on Earth would I want to explore an elaborately detailed mansion and capture ghosts when I could be tapping a screen and making a little pixel bird fly through the gaps in pipes instead?
Such disappointments. So much lost time.

Open world adventure game? Oceanhorn. Oraia Rift.
The point is there is a ton more deep, rich and immensely satisfying games on iOS than on any other platform, so to write it off with your casual time waster / freemium examples just makes you look ignorant.
