Ouch to the battery life, I LOVE that about my DSlite, it lasts for freakin ever!

And, why put the power button where it can be inadvertently touched? And it looks ugly and out of place.

I prefer the slide to turn off mechanism on the side, never an accident.

So, these are just BIGGER not actually wider screens? Wider would be silly to any games not made for it.

What about new games that use 2 touch screens? What will DSlite users find when they play? Can they play it at all even?

No GBA port is disappointing - hopefully GBA games will be available as a download? Regardless, I'm still interested in one.

Have we got any solid info on the touchscreens? Some say 2 touchscreens, some say 1 still.
And mega boo to the battery life. Hopefully they'll do something about that before EU launch.

Its only one. They don't want to split the user base with games that can only play on a DSi.

I must say I'm underwhelmed. The camera is only 0.3Mp and there isn't a real need for music playback. I'll stick to my DS Lite.

You do realize that adding these features is a way for Nintendo to justify raising the price. The rose it with the DS Lite, and they just did it again with the DSi.

But they will also sell the DS Lite for less? When the Lite was released here the Fat model went from £100 down to £90. Then as demand dropped it went down to 70. The Lite will also get cheaper. After a few months the new model goes cheap again (I paid £110 for my DS Lite near launch, now they're 100).
I don't understand what you're getting at with that? Previous model goes cheap, new model goes for more initially then down to previous models old price.

just a crazy thought, does this mean no Guitar Hero on tour? Doesn't that use the GBA slot?

I don't have a ds, and I won't be getting this. Not because either of them suck, I just don't. But anyways... I'm reeeaallly disappointed that they're getting rid of the gba slot. I still play games from the original gameboy and enjoy them. But I still have a gba, so I'd survive.

I think Nintendo's goal here, is to get us to buy a DSi, then repurchase all of our GBA, GB, and GC games from the DSi online store.

The DS still basically 2004 technology. Having a 0.3Mp camera, SD, and larger LCD screens shouldn't cost that much to include, especially when Nintendo sells millions of these a month. Its just a sneaky way to get people to buy another DS for more money.

When things sell more, usually prices get cheaper. Look at the iPod. Each year they add more storage, and prices get lower or stay the same.

It's still the same 2004 DS... it won't bring anything new for games and some will even be unplayable on it (Guitar Hero), the upgrades are nice yes but what I really want is a successor to the DS.

Order of Ecclesia is just about the last killer app for the DS and it's coming out this month, we need a new system with updated hardware.

I guess it's not a bad upgrade if it's priced right, the camera looks cool and I wonder how much thinner it is in perspective (12% doesn't say much really).

Hey, it's a great upgrade from the phat.

Did you ever own a phat? The power button is above the dpad, finger slips and oopps, POWER DOWN. That's why I love my PSP. When the battery is dead it just locks the game in the position, charge it up and it's just where you left. When you turn it off (not fully) it does the same.

It's one touch screen IGN SUCKS at translating :p.

They've likely removed the translucent plastic casing around the Lite, since the closed shots of the DSi don't look as reflective as the Lite.

You're new to gaming? The PS2 Slim was launched at a higher price point in the UK, and the PSP-2000 cost the same but didn't come with a memory card.
And the prices have been dropping. DS Lite launched at 115, then 110, now it's £100. DS fat was supposed to launch at 150 but was 130, then downwards little by little to 70. So I don't get what you mean. Short of Nintendo altering the actual specs of the system to cause game incompatibility what else do they do? The system is going strong and new, creative games are coming out for it. A sequel device isn't needed.

not out in the US until late 2009? Ouch... thanks Nintendo :p

Fils-Aime said they wouldn't be bringing the DSi to North America until late 2009 because they want to continue selling the DS throughout the holiday season.

Nice... so they can sell the now outdated version to people then go "omg! THIS YEAR THE DSi IS OUT!!! SELL THAT OLD ONE YOU JUST GOT 11 MONTHS AGO!"

The DS Lite launched at a higher price than the current DS. Now the DSi will launch at a higher price than the DS Lite. Don't you think that a device 4 years old should be about the same price, even if they add a few features? I know its business; I'm just pointing it out. And In my opinion, these features like a slightly larger screen at the same resolution and a weak camera doesn't justify a price increase.

I'm perfectly happy with my DS Lite. And frankly, if the DS is selling millions a month then they don't even need this. Nintendo likes releasing new hardware to make more money. They did it with the GameBoy Advance.

It is annoying that they wanna charge an extra 50 for a couple crappy cell phone cameras and an extra quarter-inch of screen but they CAN charge more and people are still gonna eat it up so why not?

I know they can, its their prerogative. Its just disappointing.

People will only buy what they see as perceived value. Besides, this won't be out until next year in the US, so there better be a price drop at that time.

There are a few on this forum that bought every minor update on the PSP. It's only been 3 years and MS has released everything from the Elite to the UBER-Snob edition of their 360.

Nintendo isn't doing anything out of the ordinary and when compared to those other guys, they're rather conservative. So why are they being singled out for offering a product refresh?

Well im definitely picking up a Guitar Hero DS Now, i could care less about the improvements, i dont need camera's, i have a phone....

Exactly, seems it must be evil Nintendo or something.

Wait, so you care about the new features or what?

I Dont want the New DS,i care alot more about the Good Old GBA Games than a Camera.

Well its different when the DS is blowing everything else out of the water and selling millions a month. Makes you wonder why they even need this when demand is still so high.
