If they launch it too late in North America, I wonder when we can expect it's successor. I assume they won't dare launch the "DS2" within a year of the DSi launching. Might expect it in 2011 now.
Is it just me or does cartridge/disc based handheld consoles seem to be going backwards. The whole point of handhelds is to make it easy to player wherever you are. Make it all digital downloads like the iPod touch.
And they're not going backwards. The PSP supports game downloads and soon they're getting an online shop right on the PSP itself (no more PC needed, yey), and the DSi also has an online shop.
Software will probably be sold online in the future, but you have to wonder about the retailers and their influence. They don't want to loose revenue on game sales, and in an online world they would become obsolete. They might not have a lot of leeway, but they sell the hardware.
Until we buy the hardware from an online store and just have it shipped to us. Or people will get it from places like Wal-Mart.
Nope, until the DSi every Nintendo handheld was 100% region free.Is the DS region locked?
I tell you, I buy a lot of used games and digital downloads would kill that market.
Now only Sony are the one company offering full regionless playback of games on the ps3 and psp....
Damn it. Playasia has given me so much joy importing games that aren't available in aus, are overpriced here, or have prolonged release dates. A big addition to the DSi con list.
