Why not just a full version of the game
[doublepost=1566875881][/doublepost]
It will bring some profit.
Most profitable? No it won’t.

They should release a full original gameplay version and join arcade. Arcade will sell crazy.
Tbh, arcade should bring console games, even pc games to mobile. Apple boasts a12x to have xbox performance anyway.
They will had some console games on there, just not AAA ones

This CAN be a huge hit. But if it’s loaded with paywalls and uses the “oops, you’re out of gas after 5 mins of gameplay, you can wait 462 days or pay $.99!” Then it will harm their rollout of mobile games. I really wish they’d go the Super Mario Run route - top shelf game for $9.99. I know it probably won’t make as much money as the freemium junk, but with rumors that it’s already P2W like crazy in the beta, I just really hope they reconsider.
I’d be willing to pay £9.99 as a one off fee as I did with Mario Run but I don’t want to keep paying out.

Don't see the appeal, a 2ds is like 50 euros nowadays (new) and you can find Mario Kart (you know the full version) and tons of marvellous games for 10 euros each... or load an SD ... All with physical control and without losing precious battery life.

Yes the cons is that you have to bring a device, but you can hardly feel it in a back pack anyway.

About time! What was that crappy puzzle game all about? This is what we have all been waiting for!

Ah just found out it does not have any multiplayer in it...
Hmmm so the biggest feature that Nintendo constantly sold the game on is missing from this version, and it’s been replaced with in all purchases.
Yeap it’ll flop.

I highly doubt it will flop. I bet you it will be Number 1 for months and months to come.

Sadly, I think their P2W models are way more lucrative. Mario Run's entry fee was ruined by reviewers and players not understanding the limitations of touch controls and the somewhat hidden depth of the speed running aspect. Now that Apple have opened up proper Bluetooth support for most controllers, there's no reason why Switch quality games can't be made for the iPhone and iPad, there's just the barrier that people have for paying over $10 for something on iOS.

I assume this may appear as part of the keynote next month.

That was what I was going to write! Probably it will be on keynote. It's really great way to show off the new screen and iPhone's power haha.

But jokes aside if it asks for money every 3-4 races I don't think it'll be huge hit. I would definitely pay one time and play limitless.

Ah yes Freemium.. the scourge of the App Store. Definitely giving this one a miss
There should be a completely separate section of games in the charts, so there is paid apps, "free" apps, and apps with no IAP (even if that includes paid apps). I go out of my way to find apps that are either paid for or free that don't have in app purchases. I'm sure there used to be a website that had them all listed as well.

Nintendo is going to make a ton of money off of this... all while building up the fan-base.

on iOS yes..

I dunno why Ninteno thinks by limiting to console types or handheld devices, they can overcome the piracy manner

Nintendo need a slap upside the head sometimes.

Mario Run - brilliant game. Yeah a little expensive but I think everyone now prefers the "buy it once" mentality, so we put up with that. Then they forced the silly always-online requirement to prevent piracy. This ONLY affects genuine customers - as the cracked versions will have this patched out. Which means playing it on the tube is a no-no.

After getting burned on Mario Run, I’m not buying any more of their stuff on iOS.

I for one actually love the Mario Run game - paid to get the full game after trying it and love that business model... HATE the fremium junk with ad's or pay to get diamonds and all sorts of bullcrap like that.

Let me buy a few full games for a small entry fee like in the old days

Then you won't be playing this game unfortunately.:( It's IAP all the way... with purchases from $1.99 all the way up to $69.99. Nintendo probably won't release another single pay app on iOS. There's too much money available via IAP.
Rhetoric says people prefer "pay once" apps. Math says IAP is the more sensible financial choice for the company and people don't mind being nickle and dimed to death..

I think the only hope for pay once type of activity from Nintendo is Apple Arcade (and that's really not pay once). I think they'll release an app for AA to gauge the financial viability of the shared revenue of the subscription service. If it doesn't generate sufficient revenue... back to the tried and true IAP.

Doubtful unless it’s part of Apple Arcade. That’ll consume all the gaming-related oxygen at the keynote.

one AA launches, Apple will act like other games don’t exist.

iOS is more of a great console/desktop games killer platform. MK is another great game which will likely be dumbed down completely for the platform.

I’ll take that bet then, because it has to battle online games like Fortnite.. it won’t be the success you hope, I guarantee it.

Beta testers were negative about the fame due to no multiplayer and in app purchases, you compete against your friends highest scores.. and you increase your scores by buying new characters...

It sounds like a flop to me.

Couldn't agree more. Apple used to have a section on the main app store page for Games that was called 'pay once to play' or something like that, maybe its still there, but was a good place to skip the garbage which fills up 99% of the App Store.
