I still have an ipad 4 so I may very well upgrade to an ipad air 3.
All the functions and splitscreen and being a decent bit lighter and such all on top of it are a decent upgrade.

Apple is making more money than ever before and breaks records every quarter. What board in their right mind would change the CEO of the most successful company ever? Just because you don't like the direction they are going doesn't mean Apple is "failing". If anything they are more successful than ever.

People who call for Tim Cooks head probably couldn't even manage what is going on in Apple's parking lot or cafeteria, let alone run the company.

Apple is of course not flawless. They cater to the center of consumers and maybe a little left and right of that spectrum.

There isn't that much to innovate in iPhones or iPads, which is why they try to find the next niche to explode in.

Game changers like the iPhone don't come around once or twice a year on a regular basis.

All one has to do is stay objective and evaluate whether what Apple offers is for me/you.

If not, buy something else.

More often than not Apple has been right. Their bank accounts prove it!

PS: Back to iPad refreshes. I have a gen 2 (never buy gen 1 of anything Apple) iPad and it is doing just fine for what I use it for. Even dreaded flash isn't an issue.
Would like a bigger screen, i.e. iPadPro size, but that's 1st gen AND too expensive at the moment. I'll pick up a refurb when gen 2 is out.

Lack of 3D touch is why I passed on the iPad Pro (well, that and the inexplicably missing LTE Band 12 support).

The  Pencil is fantastic, but I don't think it's too much to ask for Apple's flagship product not to be missing major new features.

The product I'm most excited for is the Apple Watch 2. It's the only current part of Apple's product lineup that doesn't feel fresh and new, and that hasn't just been updated.

I feel like 3D Touch could be utilized much more. The best they can do is peek and pop?

Home screen peek and pop isn't very useful, and is not the best they currently offer. It's better in apps like Safari on Mail when you can preview a lot of content quickly without going back and forth.

Personally, my favourite use for 3D touch is on the keyboard: If you press hard it turns the keyboard into a trackpad and lets you move the cursor around.

I was really excited by 3D touch and that is why I bought the 6s, but honestly if I use it once a month I'm surprised... It's not that I am disapointed by the feature itself, it's just that I found out I don't need it. It's more the kind of thing it's nice to know it's there but we don't use it.

"The report confirms the iPhone 7 will be released in 2016, likely around Apple's usual September timeframe."

Pure genius. It's like he's Nostradamus.

Terrible analysts? How people can make money on you. You could have said Apple is preparing iPhone 7 production and then tell release date will be early. Then next, you will tell production delayed, manufacturing issues. With that kind of analysts we can create 2 articles.

Apple is not really giving anyone significant reasons to purchase an iPad Air 3. My iPad Air still works great and it's really not worth moving up for split screen and touch ID. That's true for a lot of their product lines IMO.
I won't acquire a new iMac until an SSD is included in the base quad core.
The only reason I will consider an iPhone 7 is because I want to move to the larger "plus" screen size.
I am still firmly in the Apple ecosystem and won't leave because there are no Microsoft or Google products that interest me. However, the bloom is off the rose regarding my long standing belief in Apple. It's the little things like waiting so long to increase RAM in the Air/Iphone, or still having spinning hard drives in iMacs. It's also the bloated nature of iTunes and the failure to address it. Photos is no great shakes either IMO.

NO!!! I was waiting to buy Air 3 just because 3D Touch. I hope it's not just an Air 2 with an A9/A9X Chip.

Huh? Apple hasn't even mentioned the iPad Air 3 yet. Of course they aren't "giving anyone significant reasons to purchase" it! And even if, once they DO start talking about it, it is just a faster Air 2, that still could give people with iPads lower than an Air 1 incentive to purchase it.

It's obvious! another Apple marketing decision!
adopting 3d touch on iPad Air3 would be ******** on iPad Pro new buyers who
paid big money for just a bigger display.

How so? Who buys a Pro for 3D Touch? They buy it for the size. 3D Touch is nice but it's not $300 over the cost of a 32 wifi Air2 or more if you need cellular. Plus plenty of Air 2 customers like me who have zero interest in a 13" tablet and also no interest in upgrading to a mere speed bump Air 3.

The reason for no 3D touch on the Air 3 is the inability to produce the 3D Touch Display in volume for 4.7", 5.5", and 9.7" at this time. Once Japan Display comes online in 2018 things will change quickly in many products. Air 3 will be A9X with 4g of RAM. Same price point. 32g, 128g, 256g. :apple:

Cool, may grab an Air 3 to replace my Mum's iPad 3. Having a 6S I SERIOUSLY doubt she's going to miss 3D Touch, I hardly ever use it. In fact it'll just be another thing to confuse her.

I have a mobility impairment, and find myself often invoking force touch when I mean to do long press and vice versa. I suspect a lot of older users might also have this problem.
