I am hoping it is similar to buying an iMac and wanting a different keyboard. I like a wired keyboard and they will open the iMac box, take out the wireless keyboard, walk over to the shelf and grab a wired keyboard for sale and swap that for me.

So maybe they will do that with the black sports band and silver aluminum Sports Watch.

Pretty crappy if you ask me. I wish they wouldn't pre bundle the color and just instead let you choose the watch, then the band, then any accessories or apple care.

There's a black band with silver option but it's only for the Apple Watch...not the Sport Edition.

Lol... Good luck if you wanted ANY color with your Space Grey Aluminum watch, you're getting black and that's it.

Glad I'm not alone in this dilemma. I want a silver/black band option! The space grey with black band looks slick and the most traditionally "watch-like". However, I wear khakis, brown, or other earth tones every once and a while too...

I've narrowed it down to the following: silver and white band would be the most versatile if you didn't want to buy a band later on, space grey on black bland is the most professional. If you're looking to change to a third party band later on like blue or brown, you should stick with silver and a fluoroelastomer band in a color you can tolerate in the meantime.

Then again... space grey with a neon band would look
Pardon the 1 minute photoshop job. Food for thought.

Silver Aluminum case with black sport band?

So is the silver sport case with the black sport band not an option? If not could I get the black band as the extra one or would I have to buy a separate one?

I actually like the Matte Black sports watch - I think it's far better looking than the glossy black regular one.

I'm probably going to get the matte black one, then wait for other straps to become available.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that wants a Silver / Black band combo. This combo should be a default choice for sure. It's classic apple looking.

Well... better find someone with a small wrist to give you the 2nd larger band.
See the other thread where people have details about the rubber including 2 lengths of bands?

They don't actually come with 2 full bands. The sports band is a two piece band. You will get 3 pieces total; ONE will be the part with the metal pin, the other 2 parts (the side of the band with the holes) will be the sizes S/M and M/L.

You won't actually have another band to trade or sell because you will only get one of the bands that has the metal pin.

Better yet, find someone who buys a white and trade 1 black for 1 white. Every sport comes with 2 rubber bands in the box!

Found this picture in another thread...
The top band (with metal pin) always shows either 38 or 42mm. The bottom band (with the holes) shows either S/M or M/L. No point in having 2 pieces with the metal pin as they are both the same size..

Why would they allow something in store but not online?

Are they not saying that getting an apple watch is going to be a unique experience , where you get to customise your watch?

I would hope that was the case in a boutique they plan to open in high end retail stores.

Guess I'll be ordering an additional black sport band for my silver sport watch. I'm also thinking of getting the brown leather loop, It's a nice combo.

Wouldn't the two parts then be asymmetrical? I could be wrong, but I assumed that both parts of the band would be longer on the M/L size as opposed to the S/M one.

I totally agree. I think it's two "sets". I've been thinking about the asymmetrical issue. Just lengthening the tongue side would position the pin off-center of someone's bigger wrist.

No - I do think the pin is removable and there will only be one. You can pop it out of one band and pop it in the other.

I believe that the rubber bands are sold in two sizes. With everyone being forced to buy two bands, but only using the one in their size, the world is going to be awash in unused bands. Let the whole band thing shake out in a month or two and you will have a ton of options.

Edit: Read the thread and it seems you don't get two full bands. Oh well. I still think there will be a huge aftermarket in a month. So there will be lots of options.

Here. I could be wrong as well but it wouldn't make much sense to have the size printed only on the bottom strap and not the top. Sure, one would be longer so why have the size printed at all? Seems more simple to just keep the top strap there and just swap the bottom to fit your wrist.

Still cannot figure out why there is no choice for black band on the Sport watch with the silver casing. Just bothers me that they purposefully seem to be doing it to sell separate black bands. There is not a single band color I'd be interested in. So it is either buy the gray case or have to spend an extra $50 on a band.

Do the color choices tend to favor women? Color palate just seems overall tiled toward the feminine with pink, light green, light blue and white - not even darker blue. Just doesn't seem like they would appeal to many men - some, sure but most or all? Am I wrong?

I realized how Apple played us on the bands. If you look on the site the black band only has a space grey metal piece on it so that's the only sports band that has that. All the others have silver aluminum metal piece on them. They didn't want to make a black band with a silver piece on it

Except they do make it. It's found on the SS model and also available for purchase separately.

You're right. That sucks. They know a lot of people will either settle for space grey sport with stock black band or bump up to SS
