Customizable doesn't mean you pay the same price for whatever model you want, including the Edition models.

I'm talking about just the bands for the sports edition. How come I cant have a black band with the Silver Model?

I should be able to have all sports bands in any color available for any sports watch.

Sure, purchase the band separately for $49.

At least that's more customizable than having only 3 color choices for iPhone or not being able to get a black option at all for iPhone 5c.

Yes that's unfortunate. I have pay an extra $50. You know because apple is doing pretty bad financially.

We all get that you're on Apple's side here. Nothing wrong with that. But nobody is suggesting that we should be able to get an Edition with black sports band for $349. The question that I and a lot of others have is why restrict the options? And for the sake of this thread, why restrict this particular option? There is a silver Sport Watch and a black sport band that almost perfectly matches it. I don't think we're all crazy to think that the two look great together and would like to buy them together. All the talk about personalization wasn't my idea, it was Tim Cook's. The only logical conclusion to draw here is that they are trying to get people to buy extra bands. I agree with DGord's post above about this not really feeling right coming from Apple. If Apple was truly behind their statements about personalization it seems like every sport band should be an option for each Sport watch, excluding any size limitations.

Yes we should have that option. Unfortunately, Apple obviously has its reasons, that even some of its employees don't even understand, and it sucks, but I doubt they will change it.

No Silver Aluminum/Black Sport Band?

So... I've been planning on getting the Apple Watch Sport and going with a Silver Case/Black band. But today I noticed that the Sport model with the black band only comes with a space gray case - which is horrendously ugly.

I notice the bands are on sale separately and you can get a black band for $49? So I guess my $349 watch is actually going to be $398.

It's ridiculous - Apple knows this combination would be popular and isn't providing it to push more people into the stainless/black band for $549. :\

This is nothing new and has been the case since the options were listed on their site. The same applies to the black stainless steel link band which is only available with the space grey stainless steel model. That's Apple for you. Unfortunately your only option would be to buy the silver sport and buy the black band separately.

did they not combine silver aluminum with black sports band on purpose?

hi! sorry if this was already discussed but they seem to not allow the aluminum silver with the black sports band. they only have the stainless steel silver with the black sports band.

it seems like this combo looks better than space grey with black sports band.

does apple know this and want people to end up having to buy the silver aluminum face with some stupid candy color band and then buy a black sports band separately?

thanks!

Yes, I personally went with the white sports band, I would have preferred the black band with the aluminum sport though. I'll probably end up get the black sport band at a later date.

I bought a white silver and a separate black sport and leather loop band. Looked fine when I compared them during the try on.

i would love that idea of mix and match but again it would be hard to do hay? since they were not having a great luck * supposedly * in making yeilds

I don't understand why Apple isn't selling just the watch separately and allowing people to choose and pay for the band they want.

Since it comes with two bands, I think it will be possible to buy the extra black bands and sell the two bands that don't fit to make up much of the black band price.

Not exactly. The band comes in three pieces. One side of the band comes in the small and large size. The other side is a single piece that only comes in one size. There is no full second band to trade.
