The Macbook Pro looks much nicer. C'mon on, we're comparing this

against this

It's different in a nostalgic, never progressed due to the design department being closed at IBM for the last 25 years kind of way. =) I've had my fair share of PC laptops and I dunno what I'd do without aluminum anymore.

To sum up, this topic was never really gonna get anywhere by posting this on a Macbook pro forum but I'd love to be proven wrong.

Unlike some others here I like Thinkpads. I recently bought an X201 and it's an awesome machine - light, ultraportable, very robust and great keyboard.
I don't like the W-series. They are too heavy - and have on top of that ridiculously heavy ac adapter. Ok, they are fast but they are desktop replacements that are so unportable and clumsy that you will leave them right there on your desk. Better buy an iMac.

Must say I posted this thread because I'm seriously tempted by the many options this machine offers. One kilogram more weight is not a killer.

Am completely happy with my old Powerbook G4 17", but it's getting slower by the day.

Windows 7 seems to be a step ahead.

Am no fanboy, just looking around for the best possible hard- and software to fit my needs for the next 3-5 years.

Thanks for the valuable inputs so far. True is, both machines serve different needs. One has to be clear about one's own needs.

The Lenovo ugly? Wouldn't say so. Kind of a nervous design, with obviously more functionality.

Lenovo and Apple are the only 2 laptop brands I will buy...

Windows 7 a step ahead? Ahead of what? OS X? No way! It's good but no way near as good as OS X..... I only use it for video editing because rendering is much quicker on a i7 machine than the current Mac offerings (time = money).

Spec wise that lenovo is great, but come on, beauty? This thing looks like a zombie of a laptop straight from a product designers nightmare.

That integrated wacom tablet is a nice idea, but at this hight above the table it is actually pretty useless.

If you want a nice Windows 7 laptop, look at the hp envy for example.

That thing is futt-ugly. Look at the screen frame - is it made out of legos? Big plastic power hungry brick that I would hate to drag around. I bet the powercord is gigantic too.

^Seriously? Have you used the the unibody glass trackpad. It's perfectly sensitive.

Actually, I quoted "excluding Apple", not "including Apple". And yes I have, I have a MacBook Pro. Maybe I should of made the wording of the fact of excluding Apple's notebooks a bit more prominent 'cause others probably misread that too.

The OP's question was pretty dumb, IMO. There is no real comparison between a quad-core workstation with two hours of battery life and an MBP. They serve very different purposes. Apple is not trying to build the most powerful laptop in existence; Clevo already has that market locked down.

Apple makes laptops that have a good balance between portability and power. You're not going to find any workstation that can stay off of a charger for five hours, let alone eight.

Until Intel can figure out a way to get the power consumption of quad-core CPUs down, I don't think that we will be seeing a quad-core MBP anytime soon. People who buy Apple laptops want sleek machines that are relatively powerful and have decent portability; a workstation just isn't right for them.

Like comparing a Volvo S80 to a MB SL550. Retarded.

If you need all those specs and you plan to have a power plug nearby, by all means get the Lenovo.

If you can look past the spec sheet and realize that your buying a laptop for mobility, then buy the MBP.

My comparison would be a Semi-truck versus a medium sized SUV.

Both can tow, but they suit entirely different users.

Ergonomics

The trackpad on those machines are terrible:mad:
Got a similar model at school that we use for I.T. ....
Also for that price i'd be looking at a top of the range MBP, Alienware or ORIGIN PC.:D
