I tend to believe this saying. But on the other hand, if we all just accept everything thrown at us no progress would ever be made. And that goes even more for life and societal changes.

I prefer this one instead:

'God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.'

Reinhold Niebuhr

I think those posting what you call 'whining' think that they may be able to change things in iOS 7. And frankly, if no one ever complained Apple would just continue with 'their' way. In fact, chances are there would be no copy/paste, no MMS, no notification center, etc. Sometimes complaints from enough people do make a company sit up and take notice. And that's a good thing.

I completely agree with you... But, my target audience is different...

There is a difference in whining, trolling or really helping create a change... Posting incessantly on macrumors for trivial things is definitely not the way... Creating a gazillion threads for the same thing isn't either... Name calling and saying oh Apple is so stupid is also not the right way... If you are so upset post it on the right websites (On apple's feedback channels and bug fixes channels) and things might happen... Just creating thread after thread and destroying the decorum of a forum is not the way... There are threads about iOS 7... Threads about changes and threads about what problems have you found... If you want to tell the community about those problems post them there... If you want to create a change post it on Apple's website...

This forum used to be a very nice place to have a discussion.. Sadly in the last few years it is just full of trolls who will just refuse to accept that some things Apple just does it their way and if you don't like that don't buy Apple stuff... This has always been Apple's way and this has made them successful... I definitely do not wish to see Apple go the competitions way...

Apple has never allowed a downgrade... Everybody knows it... You still buy Apple and you still upgrade and then you whine... lol...

The influx of trolls and tantrum throwers is so high that most of the people with whom you could hold a sensible discussion have either left or become like them due to the non stop attacks...

Since when does Apple apeing Windows Phone OS design equal "doing things their way"? Please discuss.

Don't like it, don't read or especially participate in the threads that you don't like, rather than getting in the middle of those threads and complain about them continuously and put down other people and what they think. It's a rather simple choice.

Discuss...? With you...? Bwahahhahahhaa... I would have given you a piece of my mind... Again... But you'll go running to the mods like a child and you're not worth a time out...

Apple aping* windows...? Ok boy... As you say... :)

Ahhhh... Choice... Like the choice to not upgrade and the choice of android and windows apart from iOS... Ahhhh I get it... But when you can make a choice and keep whining why can't I give you a taste of your own medicine...?

Oh and thanks for proving my point so strongly... Love you man... Muah... Case solved and closed... :D

Edit: and congratulations to both of you... On being the first ever on my ignore list... Across all the forums I've ever been to...

1). Odd, I've actually been a member longer than you and I really don't think the tone has changed all that much. I do remember people posting about those they consider 'whiners' a lot. Meaning that people always post complaints.

2). It's a forum, not a rah-rah for everything Apple (although many do seem to think it should be that way). People can actually buy a company's product and still wish it were better.

3). Again, it's a forum. A place to discuss. Just because one person doesn't agree with another doesn't mean either has the right to complain about the 'tone'. As long as the discussion is civil, well, that's the purpose of a forum.

Apple is a for-profit company. Some things they do right, some things they do wrong. Apple has always touted the 'it just works' idea. When people spend a lot of money on a device that doesn't 'just work' and it seems that Apple could make a simple change or two, they have every right to post their opinions. Some on here seem to take it as a personal insult when a post does not just heap praise on Apple for everything. As another poster stated, if these threads disturb you, skip them. You're blood pressure will thank you.

A lot of the points in this thread seem to boil down to this:

do_as_we_say_not_as_we_do.jpg

*starts humming*
Why Can't We Be Friends

Just because one person doesn't agree with another doesn't mean either has the right to complain about the 'tone'. As long as the discussion is civil, well, that's the purpose of a forum.

Being civil is all about tone, tone makes a massive difference between a debate where people put different view points and what some of these threads have become which boils down to "if you don't agree with my views you are a blind Apple zealot or don't have the right to post" arguments.

I have noticed a few more people using this argument in recent years - me and my friends think this is true so your view is completely wrong and everyone else in the world agrees with my viewpoint as it is the only correct viewpoint to have.

Seems it is hard for anyone to admit that their view is in the minority. Seems everyone has to be right and the rest wrong.

I love a good debate, I really dislike the "me only me" views that some posters can have. Sometimes there is no global right and wrong just peoples preferences. If more people like something then you could say it's the preference choice for most users but that does not mean that others can't legitimately dislike it.

Some people like blue some red but I don't care as long as you don't tell me I can only like the same colour as you do!

Edwin

1. I have been reading these forums for a lot longer than I've been posting on it... Yes people always post complaints... I became a member just because I needed to post a complaint about the shipping times... I don't always agree with apple either... I've filed a lot of bug reports and requests with Apple...

2. Yes it's a forum... Did you miss the word "discussions" in my post...?

3. Yes it's a forum to "discuss" an not keep whining... :) precisely my point... But, in a discussion you don't go on and on and on in a one sided rant when someone has explained to you why certain things are the way they are...

There's a difference in discussing and incessant whining and bashing... I don't say apple is perfect... They have their flaws... There is a method... And don't worry about my blood pressure... I don't stress myself over the trolls... I just love to troll them back... :)
