Maybe they'll go straight to Wifi7
Looks like they're skipping 6E and going to 7.
At this point I’m almost certain that this will be the case. Honestly I don’t care much about Wi-Fi 6E. The Wi-Fi 6 router I have has been great and I don’t think the 6E would add any noticeable improvement. I’m much more concerned about the lack of USB-C.

Just checked the pricing (here in the UK) comparing the 13 Pro Max 256 GB to the 14 Pro Max in the same storage size. £160 more expensive than last year 😳

The stainless steel 45mm Series 8 is £130 more expensive than last years model 😳

this is stupendously lame, 6e availability for home networking is strong enough now with a variety of different points in cost and no longer just reserved for those flagship hyper expensive routers. there are even decently priced mesh networks available from the big players that support 6e.

this is tremendously disappointing.

Samsung Galaxy has Wifi 6E... I wish apple would embrace faster connectivity. That being said, I see wifi 6E as more important on a Mac (transferring data over the local network) than on an iPhone... but I really hope Apple implements USB-c @ 10 gbps speeds on the iPhone sooner, rather than later.

None of the new iPhone 14 models, including the iPhone 14 Pro models, support the latest WiFi 6E standard and instead continue to only feature capabilities for the older WiFi 6 standard.

Rumors previously suggested that the new iPhones would support WiFi 6E, but Apple's technical specifications page for the new iPhones includes only WiFi 6 and not WiFi 6E. WiFi 6E enables devices to handle capacity better in highly dense areas with support for higher speeds.

This has got to be the worst color options ever.

Despite the rumors, no, prices did not increase.

While we do only still have wifi 6E, we did get a nice bump to Bluetooth 5.3! Which was only finalized July of last year. That's a quick turn around. Definitely was expecting only 5.2.
Oh that’s so cool. I rather have better Bluetooth than better WiFi.

Can you explain the practical advantages of WiFi 6E that make it substantially more useful on a phone than WiFi 6?
Access to the new 6 GHz spectrum is a game changer for those that live in dense environments with dozens of WiFi networks interacting. Similar to the change from 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz, more space to spread out.

Less interference means faster, more reliable WiFi networks.

Hey at least we have the dynamic island to bring us joy and happiness! Who needs fast connectivity when we are living on a beach in Maui!

That's fine because it is nearly impossible to find a Unifi 6E Enterprise AP.
Seriously. I've been holding onto my AC-HDs and living with 802.11ac for the past 4-5 years. Figured I'd skip Wi-Fi 6 and go straight to 6E when device support caught up, but so far it has taken 2-3 years longer than I expected.

6E requires a new antenna. The lack of 6E will be almost entirely unnoticed over the typical life of these phones. Adoption of 6E tech by manufacturers has been slow. Adoption of new WiFi standards by consumers is very slow. Even among those who have upgraded to 6E, pretty much the only chance of them seeing any difference is if they are in the same room as the AP, and then only if they have a massive amount of interference on the 5GHz band AND they are running benchmarks to a local machine.

I'd say the more significant wireless communication related news is that the new devices include Bluetooth 5.3. This support is matched by support in the AirPods Pro. Apple doesn't provide any details, but I hope this brings support for Bluetooth LE Audio which should be more energy efficient and offer significantly better sound-quality in headset/handsfree modes than the garbage we've been afflicted with for decades.

WiFi 6E with its 6 GHz bands has 4 times the useable bandwidth of normal 5 GHz WiFi. It's an advantage if you live in an area with a lot of WiFi congestion. I currently get more lag and dropped frames when I try to stream games over WiFi (Stadia or GeForce now) compared to connecting an ethernet cable. There are so many channels on 6E that most people can use their own channel without competing for the same frequencies.

So it's not a big deal for normal everyday tasks on a phone. Other than having a more stable connection I can only think about game streaming where it could in certain circumstances make the experience much better.

This is shocking to me.

Also, the M3 chip will be based off the A16. Does that also mean that M3 will lack 6E?

Major miss by Apple on what was an otherwise great iPhone launch.
Always always something, isn't it?
I agree it was a great launch except for that.

Cost-related deficiency. Plenty of Android smartphones have it.

A bit surprised, but I'd rather have better cameras instead of 6E.

Guess whats coming in the iPhone 15, yup, you guessed it, WiFi 6E support. Then again, its a smartphone and probably fast enough for most users. Yes, I hear you niche use cases for wanting the faster protocol and future proofing. But lets me realistic.

They had to save iterative for the announcing of the revolutionary iPhone 15 that is only 12 months away!

My early prediction: The 15 is going to be the fastest, most extreme, brightest, best iPhone ever made!
With the best camera and battery in an iPhone ever.
