My 2006 Mac Pro benches about 5800. My hackintosh (Core i7-930, not overclocked) hits roughly 9800.
My 2009 Mac Pro 2x2.26 is over 14000.
And also cost three times as much as my machine. My 2009 Mac Pro 2x2.26 is over 14000.
I'm betting Apple won't release a new Mac Pro until September. Any takers?

Merely fun tickets. It has paid for itself many many times over.
Fun tickets? I don't get that, but I'm glad your machine has worked out great for you.![]()
I realize you were referring to money, I've just never heard money called fun tickets before and wondered if that was a colloquialism I didn't recognize.Fun tickets are money. My machine, several other non-Macs produce tickets to provide lots of fun. If I were sitting around waiting for the next mp, life would be boring.
That was my guess. They supposedly just hired people to work on the next design. September is pretty darn soon.

It won't be until Apple does a significant update to the SOFTWARE that things will change.
What? There's a new MBP coming out? Like new hardware wise or what? I thought the line was already updated like last month or something?
I love that people are bitching and moaning about new hardware not coming out so they can run Final Cut on it, when Final Cut itself is the problem. The multi threading is pathetic within FCP itself, so a minor speed boost on a new machine isn't going to help significantly. It won't be until Apple does a significant update to the SOFTWARE that things will change.
WHAT? geez.
The last update WAS in April.. holy cow!

Who said anything about a MBP?
Does the title not have "Pro" in it?
It doesn't have Book in the title, though.
Okay, that's just STUPID!
I don't even get the point of this thread. It's actually making me paranoid about this whole upgrade situation. I just recently purchased a MBP, and it's a great product, yet people on this thread are craving for more. Like, someone said 8GB of RAM as a standard? Wtf? Get over yourself..
The last update was 2 months ago to the Pro line - and even macrumors recommends that now is a good time to buy the MBPs. What are people talking about. I don't even get what you mean by 'Mac Pro' without the 'book'?
