Just been to Covent Garden.
No Macbooks today, nor do they know when they'll have them.
Big boo!

Man this whole not in store thing is a big turn off. At least to me, if i go in store and like the display model and want one, id like to leave with it! Take my damn money Apple before i change my mind lol. :p

Thanks for the info. I just ordered mine online. It should get here on the 16th-20 (I paid $10 extra for faster shipping).

No - they clearly wrote "shipping" on the 10th during the unveil..

You can't even try the thing out in the store. I'd rather have the lines then the cagey "shipping" times... Apple has trained people to have money ready to spend when they make an announcement. If they didn't want lines outside the store they could simply say do in store pick up....but now since they are "concerned" about the rMB getting all the spotlight they've decided not to even have it available for some sort of immediate purchase or to even evaluate when Macs have never been nearly as popular as iOS devices. It's interesting. They've trained everyone to hang by the edge of their seats. I think they may be now training everyone to not care there is a fine line...

Yep, just been in the Regent Street store.

Half the floor filled with Watches. Macs relegated to sad and lonely corners at the back. No new Macbooks at all.

The stores have had big posters showing the new Macbook all month. But no machines in store on release day!

Feeling better all the time about my decision to give up on the Macbook and get a Pro last weekend instead. Aren't Apple launches usually better than this?

I have to say this is pretty shoddy and ill thought-out from Apple. I wasn't necessarily expecting to be able to buy in store today, but certainly able to at least view one.

Surely they should have just changed the launch date to a week +/- the watch!

I phoned the Norwich store today and they said they weren't going to be getting ANY models into the store (not even display models) until the 24th. I'll probably phone Gateshead later today (as that's the only other store I'm ever anywhere near) and see if they say the same.

Looks like I might be buying one and returning it if I don't like it...

The 2012 rMBP took about a week to arrive in stores in the UK after it was available to purchase online, if I remember correctly.

Thanks for saving me the trip as I was planning to pop into Regent Street after work.

I'm glad I wasn't planning to buy one today, I would have been so disappointed.
