Pretty soon they are gonna tell us we’re getting Resident Evil 4 , the GameCube port 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
I really miss my GameCube! 😭 Was a great console at the time, and such a great time for games. Fondly remember playing Legend of Zelda and the Windwaker, Metroid Prime, Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy, and Pikman. Good times!

Really tried to get into it when I had Xbox Game Pass, but I struggled to figure out what I actually needed to do. All I had was something like "Go get [item]" without telling you what it was or where it was. :(

That is basically the tutorial section where you learn the interface and get the parts to get off the planet with your crashed ship. After that is when you actually get to star bases and find quests and such.

IMO, game is still boring, I've tried to "get into it" twice in 2019 and 2023, but 99% of the game is walking or grinding.

I literally spent two days grinding and walking for TWO DAY to get parts for a spaceship when I could just launch R-Type and play with a spaceship and power ups immediately 🤣

Imagine wasting days and days of our actual human life walking around in a stupid virtual world trying to find stupid virtual objects. I’d rather live life thanks.

Yeah I spent like half an hour trying to progress it, but I couldn't figure it out. I'm usually alright at games but this was one I really couldn't figure out.

NMS is not 99% walking and grinding lmao. You can build your own bases, your own space armadas, engage in space combat against pirates and bounty hunters, explore ruins and desolate worlds. Be explorer or conquerer

Me? I've been building my own armada in VR, building my flagship frigate and recruiting smaller vessels into my fleet to conquer the galaxy

That's fair. Honestly, my judgement is very clouded. I'm getting senile when it comes to video games for some reason. Games aren't fun to me anymore. I think i'm just getting older unfortunately. Kind of a shame, but it's life.

I never used Steam. How does it work?

Cant I buy the game on Mac OS App Store directly?

Steam is the preeminent app store and environment for games and predates the Mac App Store by many years. It's developer-friendly, supports mods, and is multi-platform by design. Often if you buy games for one platform, you get all other supported platforms included (although that's not guaranteed).

Apple's App Store is all about security theater and maximizing Apple's revenue. If you feel differently about it, I respect that, but were I trying to support Mac gaming, I'd do it on Steam, not via the App Store.

Too bad Steam runs like trash on Apple Silicon, its uses more power idle in background than some of my professional apps in active use.
Guess we lucky the steam store even supports universal apps at all but still they really couldn't be bothered about Mac gaming in the least.

Bro...you really need to use Steam. It's a miles better platform than the Mac App Store/Game Center. There's a reason game devs skip the Mac App Store and just use Steam instead.

Better friend system, better achievements, better user profiles, better deals and discounts, better discoverability, better library management, better features with cloud saves and remote play, and more

Hell remote play alone makes it objectively better. Being able to play your PC/Mac games from your iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV using the Steam Link app is absolutely superb

Please just download Steam already and join the master race https://store.steampowered.com/

New to modern gaming...any benefit buying it on Steam vs. Mac App Store?

Everything. There's zero reason to buy games from the Mac App Store. Steam is superior in everyway. Better discoverability, better library management, crossplatform between Windows/Mac/Linux, the ability to remap controller buttons, easy mod and custom content access through the Steam Workshop, loads of deals and deep discounts constantly, cloud saves, achievements, user profiles, remote play through Steam Link which allows you to play your PC/Mac games on an iPhone/iPad/Apple TV, easy fast no questions asked refunds if a game is bad or doesn't work, and more

How do you know this?

Because Valve announced it lmao

Xbox game pass has it and it’s only $14.99 a month.

Game Pass is just the best deal in gaming hands down. Games people actually want to play, includes unlimited game streaming for alternate platforms, and solid discounts on games to buy. If you're not weirdly emotionally married to only gaming on the Mac, a PC or Series S or X + Game Pass is the easiest and best starting point to get into gaming as a real hobby. Can't recommend enough.

that's what happens when webshits design applications. That's my biggest peeve with Steam, everything else about their service is great as a user except their awful electron.js-like client.

One of the worst games I've ever played in my 40 years of gaming. Awesome!

Lemme guess: You played the game at launch in 2016 and haven't touched it since haven't you?

No Man's Sky is a vastly different game now. It's really, really good, and they now delivered on all their promises, and have exceeded expectations going above and beyond each update.
