Lemme guess: You played the game at launch in 2016 and haven't touched it since haven't you?

No Man's Sky is a vastly different game now. It's really, really good, and they now delivered on all their promises, and have exceeded expectations going above and beyond each update.

Not at all, but nice try at guessing. The game is still trash. I'd rather play Star Flight on Sega Genesis.

lord rolling eyes...... I must have high hopes for games on the mac as its pretty sad right now. Dear apple Pay for some current games like real ones to be developed for the MAC. Start with COD since is already pretty good on the mobile version.

Activision is in the (very long) process of getting bought out by Microsoft. Tough luck.

That doesn’t say it will fix the background issue. I don’t care about fancy animations. Why if Steam has been running in the background for an hour or so it takes 1-2 minutes to click the cat window and have it respond? This is the worst program I have ever used.
Unfortunately, that's how all electron.js applications work lol. They chug resources by running in the background, wasting resources and battery life, since their optimization is so poor it takes too long to open and close them.

IMO, game is still boring, I've tried to "get into it" twice in 2019 and 2023, but 99% of the game is walking or grinding.
Thanks for the heads up! Won't waste my time looking for it.

Describing your post as ”crying“ was ridiculous, quite over the top. 🙈 Loved your droll response: “OK”. 😎 Brilliant!

Elden Ring would be great.
I am looking forward to seeing videos of Macs destroyed in rage :)

Just finished 100% completion on my PS5

No Man's Sky is a must play. You have a large procedurally generated universe to explore. Procedurally generated large planets, with unique flora and fauna. Ruins or civilizations on planets, bases to build, ships to collect, pirates and bounty hunters to fight, mechs and land vehicles to drive, space armadas you can establish, and of course with the option to go solo or with others. Be explorer, trader, or conquerer
There is no unique flora, it's all pre-built models. The fauna is also not unique, its just a preset bunch of assets semi-randomly thrown together, so you very quickly start seeing the same stuff again and again, just like with the spaceships and buildings. None of the textures or planet biomes are procgenned either. It's a good game, but the procgen is very limited, and what you see gets extremely repetitive once you've visited a few planets.

That said, it will be really interesting to see how this benchmarks compared to other platforms.

I have used other electron apps and don’t have this many issues.

OK, I might have lied a little. Steam is not an electron.js application, but it runs on a different, but functionally EXTREMELY similar web architecture that works in a very similar way. That's probably why steam's client has so many issues.

Now do skyrim vr next for true peak revolutionary future mode!
OMG. That might be the only thing that could make me buy a VR setup. Heck, I'd settle for a native port of Skyrim I could play on the Mac. I loved that game, but on a PS3, man is it slow to load.

Starfield for mac?!… in 2033

Sucks for you. It's an amazing game and with each update it has only got better.

If it's not for you then move on and go play something else. No need to cry about it.

It's even more incredible in VR, especially since VR mode has exclusive cockpit controls for ships and mechs.

No man's sky will forever hold a special place in my heart for being the catalyst for this video.

Ah but you see I would love to actually enjoy it I just don’t know what there is to enjoy.

They could disrupt the entire gaming market pretty much overnight if they wanted. Throw some millions or even billions to studios/publishers for development/exclusivity, throw together a store real quick, and take a 10-20% cut and they'll attract lots of games. That's just on the PC/desktop/laptop market though.

Even entering the console market wouldn't be difficult for Apple.
I’ve often wondered why Apple haven’t done this already and concluded, against my initial instinct, that it may not be worth it for Apple in the long term. Yes, Apple could release a console and yes it would disrupt the market.

But they would be entering an already competitive landscape. Are people going to go out and buy an Apple console when they already own a PS5/Xbox/Switch? Well some will, but the uptake will be fairly low, especially in the early years.

And as the years progressed and new consoles are released, Apple would have to offer something incredible to entice people to switch to their platform. It would have to be something ridiculous like GTA6 (or by then 7?) exclusivity - And something like that will cost a lot - sure Apple can afford it, but will the reward be worth it in the long term? The existing triopoly already have their own exclusives too.

And so instead we have Apple Arcade which doesn’t really have direct competitor as such - maybe Xbox Game Streaming but that is double the price and has a completely different type of game.

And of course all this leads nicely to the VR headset - rather than release a ‘classic console’ Apple are poised to enter the gaming market from a different angle. The uptake of VR across the industry is fairly low so I guess they’re hoping they can dictate the shape what is currently a smaller gaming market, become dominant in the VR area and grow the marker as market leader.
