Such pessimism...😅
Call it pessimism if you want, I just don't see the Mac as a viable gaming platform for most gamers (including casual gamers) because of the lack of games, while the lack of gamers means the Mac isn't becoming a viable platform for games anytime soon.
That doesn't mean that there's no gaming on the Mac. I've sunk weeks of my life into Civ 5 and 6 and I've played quite a bit of Portal back in the day, but the latter doesn't even run anymore because Apppe dropped 32 bit support.
Honestly I would never consider a Mac as my primary gaming platform because there's just too many really good games out there that the Mac will never be able to run. It's just too restrictive.
For VR gaming however, to get back on topic, I don't think it's quite as clear cut. There isn't a massive number of games out there already that people would miss out on and the first platform to do it well will have a massive leg up.
Whether that will be enough is another question. If a PS5 gives you all the games you could ever play and new and shiny VR games, while the Mac gives you slightly better VR games, I'm not sure the Mac will win.
