It'll be interesting to see what they do and how the SE sells. I keep thinking the prices of the new iPhones are astronomical yet people keep dropping a thousand dollars every year every other year on a new mobile phone.

I was hoping that 128gb came out.... Seems silly that they now only sell a 32gb ipad mini 2. In fact the only iDevice that starts at 16 gb is the SE. They even removed the 16gb option from air 2, instead selling 32 and 128 only, same thing with the mini 4. Why can't they do this with the SE? Do a 32gb / 128gb option only? Really want a 4inch iphone in 128gb...

I'll wait til March and SE what happens.

I wish I knew this as well. Hope they do. It's the best phone they've ever released, IMO. It's like going back to an old familiar love.

Nope!, Not gonna happen the SE was made due to leftover parts and leftover molds, just like they never renewed 5c , they will not renew SE.

I know the focus now is on the iPhone 7/7 Plus, but will Apple ever update the hardware for the iPhone SE? Either sticking with the same 5S design and upgrading the internals, or launching a smaller, 4" iPhone 6 style design with updated internals?

For me, a 4" iPhone is the perfect size. Even with the 4.7" iPhone 6 I found the size just a little awkward, would sometimes need both hands and would feel it in my jacket/jeans, whereas the 4" SE just doesn't get in the way and I can use it easily one handed. The performance is fine, the rear camera is more than capable of anything I need it for and battery life is excellent. The only negative is the FaceTime camera, which is low resolution, but I never use it so it doesn't affect me.

Love the SE, and as long as Apple make a 4" iPhone I'm going to stick with that.
Here are a couple of other places this is already being discussed:

iPhone SE Updated Every Year?

No New iPhone SE?

I've said this before when SE came out...

The SE was a response to the 4" market.

Apple wants you to buy a 4.7" or larger phone if they had their way. What that means is there is are no SE2 plans right now.

If the bezels and home button go away in the 2017 phone, either the phones will shrink (while still keeping their current screen sizes) or the screens will increase a little to fill the void left by the bezels/home button disappearing.

If the former, Apple hopes to entice the 4" lovers to try the new phone then.

But either way, the SE won't be discounted or upgraded for the time being.

Honestly, I hope the iPhone SE never gets refreshed and Apple just includes a 4" option in their flagship lineup. I don't want to see an iPhone SE 2 next spring with iPhone 7 internals and an old design only to see Apple release a major new design with the 10 year anniversary iPhone a few months later.

It would be neat if Apple released three sizes of the next iPhone and every iPhone after, even if that means starting the 4" model at $550.

I am with you. I was hoping to see a 4-4.2" version of the ip6 when the SE was released.

Like others have said, I hope that we'll see a 4-inch flagship next year as well. If the SE sells well I don't think it'll be impossible that they'll release a 4-inch device along with the other two. Spec-wise I suppose it would be a combination of the 7S and the 7, as to keep costs down.

So, I sold my 6s 128gb to go back down in size to the SE 64gb (I've owned every model and i missed the 4" screen and 1 hand operation) and I have no regrets. However, I'm wondering whether anyone has heard that they will be upgrading the SE or some other new 4" model any time soon? if they do, I'll be in line opening day to buy it as i would like more storage and the next gen finger print reader.

Hard to tell. SE seems to be an experiment. 5C was an experiment that bombs. SE would need to do extremely well for it be updated by Apple.
