Here are a couple of other places this is already being discussed:I know the focus now is on the iPhone 7/7 Plus, but will Apple ever update the hardware for the iPhone SE? Either sticking with the same 5S design and upgrading the internals, or launching a smaller, 4" iPhone 6 style design with updated internals?
For me, a 4" iPhone is the perfect size. Even with the 4.7" iPhone 6 I found the size just a little awkward, would sometimes need both hands and would feel it in my jacket/jeans, whereas the 4" SE just doesn't get in the way and I can use it easily one handed. The performance is fine, the rear camera is more than capable of anything I need it for and battery life is excellent. The only negative is the FaceTime camera, which is low resolution, but I never use it so it doesn't affect me.
Love the SE, and as long as Apple make a 4" iPhone I'm going to stick with that.
Honestly, I hope the iPhone SE never gets refreshed and Apple just includes a 4" option in their flagship lineup. I don't want to see an iPhone SE 2 next spring with iPhone 7 internals and an old design only to see Apple release a major new design with the 10 year anniversary iPhone a few months later.
It would be neat if Apple released three sizes of the next iPhone and every iPhone after, even if that means starting the 4" model at $550.
Hard to tell. SE seems to be an experiment. 5C was an experiment that bombs. SE would need to do extremely well for it be updated by Apple. So, I sold my 6s 128gb to go back down in size to the SE 64gb (I've owned every model and i missed the 4" screen and 1 hand operation) and I have no regrets. However, I'm wondering whether anyone has heard that they will be upgrading the SE or some other new 4" model any time soon? if they do, I'll be in line opening day to buy it as i would like more storage and the next gen finger print reader.
