No New iPhone this year

Why can't people just wait for the WWDC and see the actual plan made by Apple? You waste too much time misleading others with b*******....

You were bang on right now just have to see if summer is the new hardware iPhone design.

But I reckon if apple sell ip4s very well even at summer time they will annouce it later maybe around oct 2012

Judging from Apples record, this year will be an updated phone. Same screen, same form-factor, same #4. Might get some new innards and maybe an antenna fix, but just an updated phone non-the-less. And they'll tack an S or a G on the end.

The 'new model' is every other year, not every year.

I would agree, though, that if Apple is taking competition from phones like the Atrix seriously, they could wake the hell up and put out a new model this year that is going to compete. We can only dream.

I'm reading this thread from beginning quoting those that were right on the spot others just would not want to believe that now new hardware was comming in the fall (oct 2011)

absolutely, however there was new hardware, just not a re-design (which i will admit i thought was coming!)

Take the 3G and 3GS as an example. While they look the same, the 3GS is a vastly superior device. Out side of the display, the 3GS still holds it's owns pretty well.
Basically all they need to do is drop in a dual core A5 in place of the A4 and make an iOS5 feature or two exclusive to the new device. That's it and they are done with the yearly refresh.

Nearly right but nearly ALWAYZ apple have a feature that stands out that get people wanting to go from one iPhone to the other on the 4S it's Siri

I'm a college student and personally, I love Siri and what it has and can do. However, for the average person, I don't think they'll enjoy it much for the minute internal upgrades and Siri.

He could argue that the 4S isn't new. New doesn't always have a concrete meaning. It's a spec bump with updated software. Nothing is new about it.

That's just it. Nothing is new in the 4S. Nothing. Ergo, it isn't new. By his logic I guess.

He was wrong.

Dual core processor = new hardware update. 8MP Camera = hardware update. Adjustment to Antennae = hardware update.

You don't have to redesign the case of the iPhone to call it a hardware update.

Bumping old threads like this should be a bannable offense.
