I upgraded to the 4S from the 4, and I have definitely felt buyer's remorse. For me personally, Siri and a better camera do not make up for the truly horrendous battery. I'll likely go back to my 4, but this is the first time ever I have actually flirted with the idea of Android.

Josh Topolsky's review of the Galaxy Nexus got me interested enough to at least consider Android. Ice Cream Sandwich embodies all of the things I wish Apple included in iOS. At the very least I have to be jailbroken, and this stock 4S is killing me. I really hope post-Jobs Apple does not become stagnant and fail to innovate.

other 3GS and 4 users upgrading to iOS5 are also reporting battery issues.

My friend and I both go the iPhone4S on the same day together. Both did a clean setup with no backup sync. I did not have battery issues. I get 5-7 hours usage time while he gets 2-3hrs after a day at work with me.

Out phone setup is pretty similar. Only difference I notice is he works in a room where he gets 1bar 3G while I got 5bars. My guess is the iPhone was boosting power to get better reception or going in/out trying to re-establish connection too much draining the battery.

So now that I've taken a real good look at all these other phones out there, I can honestly say I indeed made the wrong choice in buying the iphone. Even though the phone is new to me, and my first smartphone, I can't help but feel I have an outdated looking and feeling phone. The phone isn't horrible, but it just feels like it's not worth the money I spent on it. Especially when I see phones from Samsung and HTC that have been out for over 6-8 months with the same or better specs. And now the Galaxy Nexus with it's new the new operating system. Good Grief.
I wasn't in a huge rush to get a phone, I could have easily waited 2-3 months. But I just got caught up in the whole, the "iPhone is the biggest selling phone" and the "iPhone is easiest to use" hype. That being said, I can easily see how this is a great phone for many, but just not for me. I actually thought I'd wait till spring/summer until I got my next phone, but looks like if this Nexus phone is as good as everyone is saying, I'll be picking one up on launch day.

Ok I'm done venting.

Look on the brightside the iphone is the one phone you can sell and get a profit. I assumed you paid $200 for your phone, you can easily double that on CL or ebay. Also when did you buy it? Isnt there a 30 day return policy?

If it's your first smartphone then why are you so bothered about tiny differences in specs??!?!

Your post sounds ridiculous. You are in possession of genuinely one of, if not THE best phone in the world.

It's easily the best looking/build quality so that in itself makes your phone better than the rest.

As I say, it's your first smartphone. Give it 10 days and you won't have buyers remorse.

That's exactly what I thought. The OP should be more concerned with the user experience rather than the latest specs which he probably wouldn't know how to take full advantage of anyways.

And for somebody like myself who has had too many smartphones for the past decade and can say that iOS/iPhone is smoothest and most reliable than any other smartphone that existed.

Now if the OP was a true gadget geek, then I would understand. Some of us are content with hiccups as long as there is more customizability, and some of us are good at fixing issues. But it's his first smartphone and he probably watched too many Youtube vids & ads about Android phones.

Don't get all worked up about the Nexus. It's not all that. Android fans are so desperate for a home run in light of one screw up after another from Samsung. IMHO Android is a superior OS, with hundreds of gizmos to choose from.

Besides, flexible screens will hit in about 90 days and we'll be in a totally different world. Think you've got remorse now?

Google "flexible screens" and enjoy the evening. I'll guarantee Apple will corner the first production run mid-year, probably for the iPhone 5. Lots of choices for the IP5 too, sort of like options on a MBP. Gone is the fat dumpy little iPhone, to be replaced by a thin, innovative flexible computer phone that'll blown your socks off. And wait till they release the other 90% of Siri's potential.

Phones are simply 6 month devices locked in to 24 month contracts (circa 1985 phone company). SAMSUNG alone has released 7 models since Nov 1, with another 4 in Dec. If you try to "remorsefully" keep up with that you're going to be a mess by this time next year lol

Well I ported to vzw last week for a 4s. Left sprint and my evo 3d. I am very happy with the iPhone, but now reading all this stuff of a possible summer release of a bigger screen iPhone is seriously making me think about returning it. I paid an etf to get this. Which means I'll have to pay another and port back to sprint for the new phone if in fact it does come out.

Sellers remorse is worse... heh, had to sell my 4s to pay for some family stuff, it's only been a few days but I honestly miss using it.

Well, family first, always, but still... be glad you have what you do. :)

Been there and done it mate, and as you say, when money is needed for a family emergency, the gadgets and their meaning go out the window. It's only once everything at home is ok again, that you allow yourself to miss what you sold.

I guess the marketing dollars is working then!

so wat are you going to use if you returned it and wait 6-9months for the bigger screen?

why not just use the 4S. Sell it when the next iPhone iteration comes out. You'll likely get very high resale value. But then again, when you get the next iPhone you'll hear rumors of some uber new feature and might want to sell and wait too. lol

I have a Verizon Blackberry I could use or pay 100 or so for some sort of droid on Craigslist. One point in time you could buy a phone and remain state of the art until a new model came out. Hell, now, you can't even make it 8 months before its outdated.

The iPhone is my 1st Apple Phone but also my 5th smartphone. I had 2 Windows Mobile Devices, a Palm Pre, and an HTC EVO 3D(For 1 month).

My Pre was getting old and out of the 2 year contract so I went down and got the hot new EVO 3D phone the day that it came out, the interface was slick and the phone was fast. However the reception was horrendous, places where the Palm Pre would work fine, the EVO 3D would not get a signal. The phone was also too touch sensitive and some of the apps would launch but just not work. So at the end of the 30 days I brought it back and reactivated my pre and suffered until the iPhone 4S came out. And I can say that it definitely has the best reception of any phone that I have owned. And all of the apps work. I am very happy with the choice that I made.

Apps that don't work on certain phones are normal on Android since they can't possibly support too many phones. That's why they give you 15 mins to refund the apps. Usually on new Android phones, you'll have to wait for the app developers to add support for your phone.

No other feeling worse than buyer's remorse...

We're sorry, you were not accepted.

You won't be able to play football again.

Your squad is shipping out to Afghanistan in 3 weeks.

Give me your money or I'll shoot.

We've found an abnormality in your child's heart.

You're fired.

Your home has been repossessed/foreclosed ... you have 30 days to move out.

We think you have cancer.

Perspective ... get some.

Now yall laugh at ole' asleep up there cause he's just so ugly, but I'm telling ya he's got a point. If you've ever tried to get the simplest thing out of Verizon or ATT, they'll fight you for 7 hours straight. They'll run a $4 credit up and down escalation channels and still refuse to do anything. Worse, Verizon will turn you over to Equifax with extreme haste - often before you hang up. Remember - they're the phone company from New York full of new yorkers in customer service. You will NOT win.

You've got to play their game and beat them at it. Remember it is STILL their game. Especially the new yorkers.

I like that - perspective get some

My buyer's remorse is more about renewing my contract on Sprint. I should have gone to Verizon. The data speeds and weakness of the Sprint network have never been more evident than with the 4s, which is my first iPhone. I'm not interested in having a phone any bigger than the 4s, and even though it's notification system and lack of customization is frustrating, it's not a bad phone...if I had a decent signal and download speeds.

I feel ya. I saw all that new tech in other phones and took the Android plunge. I'm going back to iOS.

4G/LTE: Who wouldn't want to have download speeds in excess of 5-15x faster than their 3G counterparts?
-- What they don't tell you in those ad's is your battery life is severely impacted due to this. LTE is new, and is known to be a battery hog. Expect to buy bigger batteries, and keep chargers w/ you so you can charge when you're sitting around.

Bigger screen: Well, yeah I'd love more real estate.
-- Unfortunately most aren't doing it as well as the smaller iPhone screen. Just about every review compares it to the iPhone screen and one thing or another doesn't seem to stack up. One may look as crisp/sharp but then people report poor viewing angles. Others mention it seems to use much more battery. Some are doing a pretty solid job on it, but I've yet to see one in my hand that is as good from all aspects as the Retina display.

CPU power!!!!!: Got me there. I mean dual 1.5ghz CPU's sounds amazing.
-- If they have all this power how come everything still seems a bit clunky? You can put all the power behind it you want, but it's an OS designed for lots and lots of variations. You're unfortunately not getting the full use of all that power.

Customization: Widgets, tweaks, and control galore!
-- This is what Android has going for it. Nobody will really deny it, but while it has it's perks there are downsides such as some pulling data whether you want it to or not. Higher memory usage due to them constantly be running. etc. Honestly I'm impartial on it, but outside of putting icons in any row I want, and a few widgets I liked it was a non-issue for me.

The fact of the matter is, at least to me, that why there are some compelling techs out there right now... they're not mature enough yet. The OS as well isn't mature enough, yet. That polish is missing and it's evident to me.

I'm not anti-Android by any means. I just don't think it's where iOS is, yet, and it's going to be a while before pure hardware can bypass all that and the tech behind it makes the new technology hold it's own as far as battery, etc, and usage.

I'll revisit it in another year or two, and see how it goes. After my 9 days of hands on time w/ the RAZR before returning it all I see is a lot of new touted features that aren't quite mature enough to really make me take the plunge.

Now take in mind my rant is from my personal experience, and knowledge. When it all comes down to it all that matters is you. If you're unhappy then by all means try the other side because you can't really appreciate what you have until you've tried the competitor. Maybe you'll like Android more. Maybe you'll come back, but if you are feeling remorse give it a try and see how you feel because feeling you "may" be missing something can make all the difference in your experience. I felt it, and now I'm coming back. If I hadn't I'd of been wondering still, and that stuff can eat at you.

Never liked android and too many friends have taken theirs back and got the iPhone instead. Too many bugs in them IMO and they take forever to update their issues unlike apple.

I originally wanted an iPhone but the allure of android got me I own a droid x and can't wait until my term is up in may to hopefully see signs of iPhone 5 and pick one up . Hubby and my son both have iPhones and I can attest although slightly outdated looking compared to the shiny androids it handles so much smoother android unless ur extremely geeky has alot of bugs and flaws but it's all in what ur looking for

I've had every iphone since 2007 and I do like my 4S. However Ice Cream Sandwich looks sweet and TBH makes iOS look outdated. I couldn't care less about facial recognition to unlock and all that fluff but the UI is very sleek.

Do i regret buying the 4S? Not really because at the time I was sick of waiting for a decent Android phone. But Apple better step up their game and reinvigorate iOS or they will fall to their competitors.

Just go buy an Android phone. You'll be back within the 30 days. I tried this with the Evo, Atrix, Inspire, Galaxy S2, Infuse. There is a reason I've owned 6 iPhones now, and I always end up losing money on those deals, lol. It may "seem" boring, but I guarantee you the grass isn't greener somewhere else.

What your feeling is normal for most iPhone owners. Everyone I know with an iPhone feels the same way. Even me but some of us use some features of the iPhone and can't do without them. My business accounts and software is all intergrated between the iPad, iPhone and PC so I can't change even if I wanted to. I would love to own a android phone as the features they have make the iPhone feel like we went back in time but we feel your pain.

I won't ever understand why any iPhone user wouldn't want a android phone if they had the choice to change. I hate it when people see me with the "hipster trinket" aka iPhone because for one I don't want to be associated with them skimpson Jean wearing students and it's almost embarrassing being seen with the iPhone. It's like the feeling you have when you go round yours friends house and he just told you he bought an audiophile sound system then you see it's a BOSE setup

I am an iPhone user and I have no desire to have an Android phone. I can change at any time and had 2 other smartphones before my iP4.

I guess I liken it to love in a way. If you really love someone, your eyes don't roam with longing at others (in this case phone with bigger....stats etc). You are completely content that this one thing in your universe is doing and working exactly as it should and how you want it to. Those that are not in love will look for the next better and younger or flashier without realizing that perhaps not all that glitters is gold.

If carrying around a piece of technology actually embarrases you because of how others are percieved to be reacting does say something about your security and confidence level.

To the OP, sad to hear that you have buyers remorse. Perhaps once you have sown your wild tech oats, you will truly find the substance and package you crave! Good luck!

WW

To each their own...I have the 4S and a SII. My android device hasn't been used in weeks now and I don't miss it.
