Based on some vids that were posted, regular black seems get smudged easily too

Yea not even close to as much as the JB, though.

Honestly, if I was you I'd go with the Matte Black. JB looks awesome when unboxing it, but I'm pretty sure that it will be an absolute nightmare for everyone with the tiniest bit of OCD. :/

I can picture myself now, every time I pick it up to use it I'm going to habitually wipe off smudges on my pant leg. Might be useless for me to debate on which to get though if nowhere gets even the matte plus models. On the other hand, to be honest, I really cannot see + models being unavailable at every single store (Apple, carrier, retailer) across the globe.

I guess if Apple says so then it's probably accurate but shipments went out to Apple Stores days before they made the statement.

Same boat as you..sort of. I tend to go back and forth every year other than going from the black 5 to gray 6+. Gold 6S right now and would have been ALL OVER a white model w/ same finish as JB. I guess I just wasn't overly impressed with the lack of design change so the JB made it feel like something special.

However, I'm regretting not going with the +. I didn't think I'd miss my 6+ but after holding one again today I feel differently. Got an iPad Pro today and if I use it for 30+ minutes and go to use my 4.7" 6S it feels like a shrimp.

The Jet Black definitely interested me, but then realizing I am a perfectionist, the scratches would have annoyed me greatly. And Apple restricted the Jet Black to 128/256 Only, when I don't personally need that much memory.

"We couldn’t be happier with the initial response to iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, and we are looking forward to beginning sales through our retail stores and partners around the world.
Beginning Friday, limited quantities of iPhone 7 in silver, gold, rose gold, and black will be available for walk-in customers at Apple retail stores. During the online pre-order period, initial quantities of iPhone 7 Plus in all finishes and iPhone 7 in jet black sold out and will not be available for walk-in customers. Availability at partner locations for all finishes may vary and we recommend checking directly with them.
Customers can continue to order all models in all colors on apple.com. We sincerely appreciate our customers’ patience as we work hard to get the new iPhone into the hands of everyone who wants one as quickly as possible."

That's interesting. I had always assumed that they set aside stock specifically for launch day walk ins. Glad to know that preordering (even without launch day delivery) was worth it.

Yeah I reserved a silver 7+ and was hoping I could switch it to a matte black but that hope is gone now. It'll be my first white phone ever :D.

Go 'canes!

Among the things Apple does very, very well are logistics and marketing. Having observed this "sold out" scenario on virtually every iPhone release, I cannot imagine that it is accidental. There is no possible way that Apple underestimates demand every year on every new product release.

My question is why? What purpose does it serve? Does it extend launch day buzz? ("On the First Day of Apple Launch, my true love gave to me...") Does the perception of scarcity add luster to a product that is frankly being manufactured by the tens of millions? Why push online pre-orders? Doesn't getting people into an Apple store mean more sales of other Apple goodies?

Some budding MBA must have studied this phenomenon.

I always got space gray until last year after watching 2001: Space Odessy, I was inspired/convinced to go with Silver/White and have absolutely loved it ever since. Look at my avatar, my phones so pretty!

Another year and another no stock issue. My local Three store just phoned to say my 256Gb Jet Black 7+ won't be arriving till 4th November at the earliest. All UK providers have been told the same. Annoyed!!!!!

Your comprehension level must be low. On the contrary, Apple is doing quite well!
Apple is doing well.

Consumers. Not so much.

Apple doesn't underestimate demand.

There is a somewhat major software revision that Apple has to test, retest, then test some more before they load it onto the new chips going into each year's model. Gold Master was released very, very recently.

This slows production start a bit.

Also, this year there is an advertised water resistant iPhone. Apparently Apple had an issue with the integrity of the water resistance and production on iPhone started 2nd half of August.

Unlike Samsung which has plenty of Note 7 phone burning a whole in the warehouse. Such a win.

LOL. I think it's safe to assume 99% of people on this website are Apple/Iphone enthusiasts. Soon as someone mentions an Apple oversight, "inititate Apple defense tactics'

Right, knocking Apple is normal on here by some, but stating issues with competition is "defense tactics"
LOL
Saying that because a product is temporarily sold out, equals an "epic fail" is so over the top. There are a lot of companies that would love to fail like that.

I'm one of those having to wait for my iPhones 7. Sure I would like to get mine tomorrow. Ain't gonna happen. So I will have to be miserable and keep using my 6s Plus for a few weeks longer. Oh my gosh, what a disaster. How will I survive. Give me time to practice using IOS 10.

I'm an apple fan and have had every iPhone. I said epic fail because they obviously didn't produce enough phones just like they do every year. My gut feeling is they do it on purpose to keep the hype going and it actually creates more sales because it keeps everyone frantic.

Won't know the numbers until they are reported in the spring, but I'm going to chalk this one up to poor planning. I'm sure the Note 7 issues had some to do with it, but still. Being sold out makes for good headlines and gets people talking about the product, good job marketing team :)
