I don't even care about 2gb of ram if I'm stuck in fullscreen land 24/7.

I think Apple know their tens of millions of iPad customers very well. The majority probably couldn't care a monkeys about splitscreen.
I've had an iPad since they were first released and I have no idea why I would ever want a splitscreen!

Looking forward to the ipad pro coming out alongside the apple watch and 8.2 in March.

Why put 2gb of RAM in and not really take advantage of it? Safari tabs is hardly a reason to. Splitscreen must be coming soon, I just don't get why they haven't announced it yet :/

I think Apple will either decide that split-screen multitasking will be only for the alleged 12.9" iPad (and released alongside) and that the Air's screen size is too small, or it'll come with iOS9...or not at all.

The 5k is great but not very useful if the hardware is lacking.

I'm not going to wait 5 months for their update if I can buy a different product that has what I want right now lol.

Go ahead and buy the other product. You'll love Android. </s>

I still use my air the most when I'm home or traveling. I love my plus but an iPad is the ultimate lounging at home device.

I use my iPad 4 a lot. I just don't see myself spending $600 on a tablet anytime soon when my MBP is better in every way except portability which I can sacrifice.

It's not really fair to compare a mbp to an iPad. It's also more expensive in every way also. An iPad serves a purpose for me and I really enjoy talking photos on my phone come home and view them on the iPad screen while browsing safari.

I use my mbp when I really need to do computer tasks.

I have no doubt iOS 9 will bring multitasking. The Air 2 has 2 GB of ram, the A8x chip has twice the graphics performance as A8, and probably the most damning evidence is that there was split screen multitasking code in iOS 8 beta.

To be fair, for $1000 you'd only get a TN panel at 4k. Still a beautiful display, but Apple's is probably better.

Still, not justification to get this iMac. The display is great but they put the worst possible other hardware in the thing.

I can get a 28" Dell 4K Display for $600 STANDARD retail that looks pretty good (I know, because we have it).

Even looking at the 5k iMac, it has a 5k monitor but then only 8gb of ram and no SSD. Have they lost their minds? It's $2500, and it hardly would of cost them more to put an SSD into the damn thing.

Apple is so miserably out of touch with reality here.

Profit Margins.....they are obsessed and its sickening.

iPad Air 2 is not a loser, but I will say I'm disappointed there is no battery increase. We are sacrificing battery for thinness. It's getting crazy.

I wouldn't say I'm comparing the two. 90% of my iPad usage is before bed I'll browse the internet or check social networks, both of which I wouldn't mind doing with my computer. Heck, sometimes I use my computer for that anyways! I was just saying my iPad is a novelty device for me, if it broke, I wouldn't go out to replace it just because I have other devices that basically do the same thing.

I don't think they'll relegate that feature to the iPad Pro only -- the iPad Air 2 has enough competition in that tablet category that Apple is more or less forced to add it.

I wouldn't be surprised, though, if the feature doesn't come up until sometime next year when the iPad Pro is unveiled. And it'll probably take some time before developers adjust apps to work in a side-by-side mode.

You have your choice of a 1TB Fusion Drive or a 256GB SSD. So I really don't get what the problem is.

The RAM I kinda get, but assuming nothing has changed that's going to be user replaceable anyway.

Does that 1TB fusion drive increase the price to over $3000, im sure it does.

Sounds like this isn't the model for you and that is fine. However, there is no need to label the iPad Air 2 a loser just because it didn't live up to what you were expecting.

I think everyone dissapointed themselves. Apple did not promiss any of this stuff, it was just assumed they would give what we wished for.

No one to blame but ourselves.

If nobody were expressing their expectations we would still use 163PPI 3.5" screens for the iPhone 6.

As iPad sales have already been slumping due to a lack of improvements already, you wouldn't have to contend with outrageous lineups in the first place :)

That makes it abit more tempting, but even so. The $2400 macbook pro retina has a 512gb ssd. Why not make that the base for the iMac.

Tablets have a slower upgrade cycle. They're more like computers. Considering how many people jumped in at the start, it will probably go in cycles.

How does an extra $100 justify jumping up to a 512GB SSD? You do realize the iMac has a gorgeous 5K display, right? That costs a pretty penny. Not to mention that I think the base model is probably faster than the highest spec'd MacBook Pro. It's expensive but expected for what you get.

As for split screen multitasking, I think that's still coming. I think Apple is trying to work out the kinks of how that will work. Though it is still a possibility that they may limit that to the iPad Pro. I'm just not sure if an iPad Pro would be right for me since it's rumored to be so huge. I hope they overlap in size, like the MacBook Pro does with the MacBook Air. Have an iPad Pro model at 10, or even 11", that is spec'd a little slower than the 13" beast which would cost more.

Buy an 11" Macbook air. Case close.

I don't get why people suggest this. Why should someone buy another tablet when they want to be able to see two things at once. You don't necessarily even need to be able to interact with both apps at once, just see them.

I also don't get the argument of 'buy another tablet then'. Well...you could but then lose the App store. Why is it bad wanting something more from the device? I don't particularly care eitherway. It would be nice if Apple would implement it, but its going to happen for jailbroken devices one way or another. It already has (twice) if you count the buggy implementations.

Regardless of what anyone says, if a pro/larger tablet is coming, then so is split-screen/multitasking. It would be a complete waste not to. Eventually its going too, there is only so long that the ipad can survive with a mobile phone OS, or any tablet for that matter.

I can't believe they didn't have any exclusive features besides touchID for the iPad air 2.

It's iPhone's year for new features. They have to save something for next year.

If you want split screen, use the four finger gesture for app switching and you'll see almost 50% of two apps at the same time.

I think split screen would absolutely stink on the iPad as it is.

You want an idea of how it will look? With iOS 8 installed on the iPad Air, turn the device into landscape, open Safari, and then open the bookmarks bar. This shrinks the right of the screen to show you the web page, and leaves the left as the bookmarks up. You can continue to browse the web on the right side of the screen.

Do you really want to use an iPad with a split screen that small?

Um....I never said get another tablet. Read my post. I said get a Macbook Air.

Split screen would be subpar on the current size iPad. Then everyone would be here complaining about how they don't like it. Split screen doesn't seem to be useful except in a few rare situations like needing to browse the web while doing something else. BUt in the end it would get tedious on a smaller screen that its just better suited to a laptop.

Apple could cure cancer tomorrow and people would still look for a reason to whine.

I didn't mean you directly, but a few people have said it regarding this topic.
