As a developer, I honestly could not care less about a health-spying app that comes bundled (and presumably will be as undeletable as Apple's stock, weather and passbook apps) with the iPhone. I consider such built-in apps as little more than bloatware, so I truly hope Cook & Co. don't really plan to pretend this will be of interest to the general population of developers.

I of course want to know what's new in iOS and OS X, but in all honestly, it's the possibility of an Apple TV App Store that would make my blood warm again. I'm beginning to think Apple is much further behind in the ATV process than they'd like anyone to believe (and losing ground every day as Comcast vies for Time-Warner and Amazon enters the fray).

The great thing about Apple has always been that "everything works" within its ecosystem, but lately, that feels far from true, as my Apple TV feels like the forgotten bastard son of my Mac and iPhone. With Amazon planning to enter the phone frenzy soon (now that they have their tablet and TV products talking to one another), Apple REALLY needs to step up its game in the living room.

I'm sure there are a lot of health conscious people that welcome these integrated features.

He said that the general population wouldn't find it useful. Hate to pop his bubble, but there are people out in the real world that exercise and go outside every once in awhile. I for one am looking forward to using it to have a better way to stay healthy.

I agree with you,

However that comment was rude, and didn't explain his point

Why are people so convinced that the first generation 'iWatch' will be open the third party apps? The first iPhone wasn't, the Apple TV still isn't.

Yes I was sort of hoping for a 12" Retina Air, but I realize it's not going to happen until Fall at least, so I bought a 2013 MBA on sale from Best Buy yesterday. At this rate they may not release it until 2015 anyway.

Great decision on the 2013 MBA, knowing the 2014 version only have minor improvement and slower ssd, its shame really.

WWDC was always meant to about software, not hardware. Nothing surprising here.

If Apple releases a new Apple TV with support for 3rd-party apps, there will undoubtedly be an SDK to go with it. That's something Apple would be very likely to cover at WWDC. In fact, I'd be surprised if they didn't introduce such an SDK this year. That would allow developers to get their apps ready before the actual product launch.

I didn't really expect ATV4 at WWDC but I would be very disappointed if turns out there's no iWatch reveal. Not that I'm the biggest iWatch fan, but if there really is a "Healthbook" app and no sensors to pair with it'll be one of the over 2,000 health apps out there - not very impressive.

I suppose Apple may not release, or even mention, "Healthbook" until iOS8.1 and a side by side release of the iWatch. But if there are no sensors to pair with, personally, I would consider the app an initial failure on the level of the original Apple Maps (that may be a little extreme, but you get the picture.)

I think this was pretty much expected. Apple will use WWDC to outline major design changes to OSX and slight changes and updates to iOS. There may be a slight hint at Mac hardware, but nothing outside of that really. WWDC is about software, not hardware - ultimately.

Apple almost always has hardware to debut at WWDC. This is often due to new software features requiring new hardware but it also brings some balance to the keynote presentation. I have to wonder if anybody knows how many WWDC's went on with no new hardware. Right now I can't think of many.

I would really hope that the Mini or its replacement debuts at WWDC. IMac could also get a rev at WWDC. In the end it is kinda hard to debut absolutely new software tech at WWDC without cluing in the developers on what that hardware is. So if Apple expects developers to support a new Apple TV, "iWatch" or any other new device this year, that device will be revealed at WWDC. When it will ship is another thing altogether.

Yes, finally WWDC the way its meant to be. SOFTWARE!!!

I love new features. Especially looking forward to Server 4 having a lot of things that were pulled out from the Snow Leopard version put back in and greatly improved!

Yeah, this just means we'll probably have a separate event for the iWatch :)

If the iWatch is coming out this year, it will be demoed at WWDC so that developers can have an opportunity to optimise their software for the new hardware. As Nike pulled out of their tech wearable hardware business very recently, the timing would suggest that Apple would demo their iWatch in a month's time.

Not necessarily. Nike could have a s/w exclusive at launch & already has the API. API to everyone else could be released same time as the iWatch. Therefore, Apple doesn't need to give devs an advanced look.

nice concepts!

I would have gladly bought 1 of those instead of the not so great looking current model.

$$$ & functionality. See the Pebble. It's developers that make it interesting & versitile. Pity it's so ugly & clunky.

First iPhone being closed was a mistake Apple rectified. AppleTV likely will be opened up at WWDC to compete w/ Amazon FireTV.

What about iPhone? With all of these iPhone 6 leaks, maybe we'll see the 4.7 inch iPhone 6 announced at WWDC. Then the September event can focus on the iWatch, Apple TV, and the 5.5 or 5.7 inch iPhone 6.

Well, Apple has traditionally announced all their 1st gen non-prime numbered iPhones at the WWDC. I don't see how this would be any different?

I really think they are going to announce the iWatch at WWDC but won't be released until the fall just like the Mac Pro

iCloud ... Aperture ... Pro-Software?

I intimately hope that the new Mac OS X and iCloud will bring a huge shift in Apples paradigm. If not I wouldn't understand why they keep on holding back their product pipeline so much.

...we'll see in less than a month.

Yeah, who needs a new AppleTV with Apps like XBMC and games when they can push OS X 10.10 "Gnarly" instead, which will create 200 new bugs, look even more like iOS Pastels and run 20% slower than the current Mavericks.

If we say ios 8 will include health app, its automatically means that iwatch will be announced. Without iwatch, the app is useless since it cant take data from any other hardware at this time. Apple wont partner with third party manufacturers because that will be direct competition for the iwatch. Logic...

So much for Cook's promise to release new products "throughout 2014". The guy's full of BS as usual. It will be the same as last year and the year before with everything released in a 2 month period between Sept and Nov. I think it's stupid but I guess it seems to be the way things are going to be from now onwards under Cook. Much prefer Steve's old approach of releasing things over the year to keep the buzz going. It also made it much more affordable than having to wait and have a huge bill for product upgrades once a year.

The only way they can keep their stock price up is by wasting billions of dollars buying their own stock and misleading shareholders by constantly saying that the next great new product is just around the corner if only they have a little patience. Where is this amazing product pipeline? We've heard the same BS year after year. Even when they do release something revolutionary they can't make the bloody thing to satisfy demand.
