Those interested in a curved screen protector, iLoome seems to be about to start shipping them. The edges are beveled, and I asked if they are flat or actually curve, like when you lay them on the table are they flat... no answer to that yet but they have answered other questions and are even here in the forum if you search for iloome threads. I've preordered one.. we'll see

I just got the zag screen protector this weekend for my 6+. It does not fit edge to edge on the screen, but it is nerary see through, and does not seem to take away much of the clarity of the actual screen. I am also using the zag glass protector on my iPad mini with retina, and love it.

Unless you have kids, please tell me the purpose of a screen protector?

cute.. guess you have never heard of anyone without kids dropping their phone or having it knocked out of their hands. They fall to the floor and scratch, or crack the protector .. yada yada. Unless you are really worried and wondering what the purpose of screen protectors is,.. why do you ask? :D

I do too. But I think some people aren't as sensitive to small scratches on the screen, others are I guess.

I like knowing I can take off and replace the protector if I need to. small scratches drive me nuts, but the main thing is more worrying about the future vs the piece of mind I don't have to worry. AND the biggest issue for me isn't scratches, it's what if I drop it and put a nice chip, crack or big scratch in my *phone* .. I'd rather damage the screen. No matter how careful you are, the person next to you might not be.
I'm also waiting for the iLoome.. let us know when you get it!

If you are that worried about scratches why not use something like the Lifeproof Fre? You can use that on your job etc where you think the phone will be more susceptible, and remove the case when you are at home or not at work.

I have not used a screen protector since my iPhone 4s. Since then I have had Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 and now iPhone 6 Plus. My 5s and 6 did not suffer any scratches at all.

There is also a case made by Pure Gear that has a holster separate from the snap case. So when not in use you can slide the phone face-in the holster so that the screen is protected while away. The best thing about that case also is that the belt clip can lock out and be used as a kickstand for watching movies. The phone can slide in the holster either face in or out. Out you can still clip it to things (like in your car) and for watching movies, etc and face in will protect the screen while not in use.

I've been a huge nekkid fan for a long time. I tried a no-name tempered glass protector on my Note 3 but it shattered (spidered) randomly in an airplane flight (peeled off perfectly).

My iPhone 6+ I'm planning on keeping awhile so I watched a Zagg rep at a local mall install one on a customer's 6+ for $42 after tax (including installation). So I dropped $42 as well --- pretty happy with it. It does reflect light a bit more than the screen under but the feeling is very similar. I use a case and the glass doesn't affect the case (doesn't go all the way to the edge). Let's see how long it lasts... Pretty happy with it so far.

Never had a scratch on 4 iPhones and 3 iPads, all without screen protectors. But, I do take care of them. For example, my pants all have one pocket that is always dedicated to my iPhone. Nothing else goes in there, ever. So I never end up with keys or change or whatever scraping against it. I keep them clean and make sure not to rub anything abrasive on them, like salt. I imagine if you have kids, it would be a lot harder to protect them bare.

I initially decided to go without one, but after two weeks of being very careful just like above, I found that there were several very fine, but detectable scratches if you held it against the light.

So I got a tempered glass protector and I don't have to be so careful anymore. It really provides peace of mind.

Frankly, I was surprised that I had any scratches at all since I was really trying to be careful. The glass is not as tough as they say.
