Agreed, on both accounts. The haptic feature is where the phone vibrates slightly when you press a key? Like the Blackberry Storm did? and a lot of the Droids have??

Assuming I am right, I will pass on that feature. I am using the GS3 right now, swipe to text is great, but I could do without the small vibrations when I hit buttons.

yeah that is what it is and I also do not really care for it, but as long as I could turn it off....no harm no foul

If the one more feature is 128 gb then I'll upgrade my 4s. If not, I'll wait till the next model comes out, not worth the cost upgrade. Did the same thing when the 4 came out, skipped it till the 4s with 64 gb came on the scene. Haven't looked back.

I would like that because it would probably mean the base model will be a 32 GB... meaning a 64 GB model would only be $299.99 :D

I need at least 64 GB on my next iPhone.

Please, for the love of God people, the next iPhone is NOT going to be called the "iPhone 5" It doesn't even make sense. The NEXT iPhone will be the 6th Generation iPhone. WHY WOULD THEY CALL IT THE 5?

Product History: iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S

It would make more sense to call it the iPhone 6 or iPhone LTE.

YES! Thank you! It's so frustrating!

People say "well, Apple went from 3G and 3GS to 4!"
Well, so? That's because the iPhone 4 was actually the fourth iPhone model!
3G and 3GS names are based on data speeds, nothing to do with generation numbers.

NFC is not happening. If I had to guess, it'll be features based on Wifi Direct, which is supposed to be in the new Wifi chip Apple will be using. AirPlay Direct, as reported yesterday, and maybe NFC-like features in the form of AirDrop.

And maybe FaceTime group chat, if we're lucky. Would be a nice use of the new screen real estate.

While I agree that NFC is probably not happening this generation, as argued by Anandtech, which I'm actually quite disappointed about, I'd be more disappointed if Apple's "Wow feature" from the software side is AirPlay Direct. I don't think it will be either, I don't think enough people* own AirPlay enabled stuff for them to push it as a major selling point.

I personally think we could see some stuff with facial recognition as part of the new iPhone/iOS 6, but I don't see that as a major selling point either, unlike Siri or FaceTime, which the mass market would see as major selling points.

*Just talking from experience, no one I know owns AirPlay enabled speakers, I'm not saying that there aren't people who do own them, but that number will be very small compared to the amount of people who'll buy the new iPhone.

When was the "one more thing" ever leaked?

I believe Face time was leaked right? I remember watching updates from Macrumors and being disappointed when we got to the end and we hadn't heard about Facetime yet... I was thinking "ah man, guess I know what the 'one more thing will be.."

"One more thing" hasn't been done in years. If you're expecting it, you're going to be disappointed.

S versions never had a one more thing. Siri wasn't meant to be a secret.

Well Apple sure made it look like it...

They announced A5 chip, new antennas, 8MP camera, 1080p video, airplay...

Then Phil was like...

"but we haven't told you guys the best feature"...

"its called siri, i like to invite scott back on a stage to give a demo of it"

They haven't done "one more thing" in a while and that was definitely not an example of OMT.

Oh my God. Nobody counts the iPhone generations. It will be 5 or "new iPhone". Anything else is silly.

It won't be "iPhone 5", because it's the sixth gen. The iPhone 4 was the fourth gen, which was the only phone with just a number, and to have it's named based on the current gen number.

so I expect it to be "The New iPhone".

I'm an Apple fan through and through. I've owned every iPhone released (iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3Gs, iPhone 4 and 4s), I've had a Mac in my home since 2000, and I've had each iteration of the iPad.

Having said that, I recently upgraded my company BlackBerry to a Samsung Galaxy S3 after having owned a Droid Incredible back in 2010. Android has come a long way. The hardware is top-notch. I'm wondering how the new iPhone will compare side by side. A 4" screen will be an improvement, but I'm afraid that it will pale in comparison to some of the newer, high-end smartphones.

Although I suspect it'll be marketed as "the new iPhone," I'm actually hoping they'll call it the iPhone 5 just to teach the macrumors nerds here a lesson on how the real world works.

This is for all the stupid idiots that don’t know how the real world works.

2007 iphone named: iphone (because it’s a cool name)

2008 iphone named: iphone 3G (because of the 3G speed)

2009 iphone named: iphone 3Gs (because of the extra speed for the 3G)

2010 iphone named: iphone 4 (because it would be dumb to call it iphone 5,6,7,8 or anything else.)

2011 iphone named: iphone 4s (because every two years they like to add a “s” for speed and calling it 5 would be retarded when it looks the same. It also allows them to sell a crap load of new phones with very little changed.)

2012 iphone named: iphone 5 (because that is the name. If you ignore the dam “generation” and how many phones there were. And if you look at the world outside your nerd house; you will notice that EVERYONE else in the REAL world is waiting for the iphone 5. It will just confuse to many people and make even less sence to call it anything else. READ EXAMPLES)

The generation argument is the dumbest thing Ive ever heard.

Generation Example:
2012: iphone 6
2013: iphone 6s
2014: iphone 8
2015: iphone 8s
2016: iphone 10
2017: iphone 10s

Makes sense Example:
2012: iphone 5
2013: iphone 5s
2014: iphone 6
2015: iphone 6s
2016: iphone 7
2017: iphone 7s

Nerd speak “well you can’t call the 2016 iphone 7 because it’s the 10th phone”

DUMBASSES!!
