You 'waiters' are hilarious. It's a wonder you people ever get the guts up to buy anything. **

Yes, because waiting 2 or 3 weeks for a refresh that is due is so dumb.

If I needed a MBP 3 months ago, I would've bought the current one. Now, I can wait until they refresh, what's the rush ?

The 5830m is officially announced Feb 15th. It would stand to reason that if they're using those gfx that this could drag out another week.

Also, while there are quite a few people hanging on the forums absolutely DEMANDING they release the new macbook pros now. . . honestly what % of the market is that? 1%? 5%?

Also, with the media already claiming interest in iPad diminishing, from a marketing standpoint they may hold of simply to maximize sales of the new larger iPod touch [now with spring breeze scent].

I'm almost to the point of ripping my hair out over the whole thing. My wife needs my 13" Macbook limited edition for school, which leaves me with a hole big enough for a shiny new top of the line i7.

Any issues with your 21.5 iMac??? I'm thinking about a bigger screen for my photo editing.

How about this:

Apple's reason for not participating in MacWorld Expo was that they didn't want to have to tie in new major product announcements with MacWorld's timing. So wouldn't you think that Apple would specifically try to avoid announcing a major new hardware update during MacWorld Expo?

Indeed. I find it hilarious that everyone is freaking out so much about this. Oh noes, Apple didn't release a new MBP line today?! I'm gonna die!!

What's even more amusing is all the people who are desperate to get a new i5 MBP because their C2D isn't good enough anymore. Granted, it's certainly true for some people, but I think for most people it's not a need, it's a want. I do HDV video editing on my PowerBook and it works just fine. Heck, I'd love to have a C2D MBP, I just don't have the money for one. So am I waiting out of necessity? Sure. But that lends a context to this whole thing: do I absolutely NEED a new computer? Almost, but not quite yet. I should get a new one within a year, but I should be fine until then.

This is why I find it amusing that so many people are so desperate for the new upgrade so they can get rid of their outdated piece of junk (or something like that).

Somehow, I think that a number of executives are sitting in an office in Cupertino having a blast toying with the masses at MacRumors :D

Somehow, I think there is not one executive in Cupertino that cares what anyone posting on MacRumors thinks. This forum makes up a microscopic percentage of Apple buyers. They have more important things to do than worry about a small group of rabid fanboys who refresh the Apple Store site every 10 seconds, in hopes that it goes down and comes up with a refresh of their favorite Apple product. Unlike way too many in this forum, the Apple execs and employees actually have LIVES!

Both of those last two posts by Surely and John Kotches were already made months ago, right? If not, this is the most surreal deja vu ever

1%?? Not a chance. Try 0.1% at most. The majority of people who buy macs have no clue that this forum exists and don't pay a lick of attention to the update cycles.

And next tuesday hundreds of more threads will be posted with anticipation, what's coming next, this happens every year lol

Come on guys there is much more to life than some updated bits of hardware regardless of how nice they are!

Chill ;)

Couldn't agree more :)

I don't own any mac products but I do own a dell laptop and desktop and I am dying to make the switch to an imac and mbp. I am constantly yelling at my laptop. I just want the most updated product before I spend. It that too much to ask? I just have to wait until it comes out which I hope is soon :). If they take too long, I just may have to get another product that will satisfy me for a couple of years, but I will try to wait as money does not grow on trees.

Is there any possibility that too many in this forum take Apple updates (or lack thereof) a little too seriously?

I'm guilty of it too. I wanted to see new MBPs today and I am not even in the market for a new one! I think it is fan boy syndrome. I have it and should seek a cure. I SHOULD unset MacRumors as my homepage and focus on more important things. I doubt I will.

you're the one who patrols these forums rabidly trying to point out every time someone should use MRoogle like you've anointed yourself sheriff of Rumorville. Pot meet kettle.

This is what I was thinking.

You mean like this thread, which should never have been started, as this topic was already being beaten to death in several other threads?

I hear what you are saying, but I am buying my son his first macbook for his first year in college. I have some time to get it, but I will definitely not pay money for something that will be outdated as soon as I get it.

Even if you buy a MacBook 30 seconds before the Apple Online Store closes, you haven't bought an out-dated MacBook, the processor in it is still today's standard, the hard drive capacity will be reasonable and it will be years and years before software starts to have higher requirements than you have.

My first thought as well. I got home checked apple. Store was back up. I was so excited. Then turns out not what I expected. I was like Jobs and all his little friends are laughing they're asses off right now.
