Even if you buy a MacBook 30 seconds before the Apple Online Store closes, you haven't bought an out-dated MacBook, the processor in it is still today's standard, the hard drive capacity will be reasonable and it will be years and years before software starts to have higher requirements than you have.

I understand what your saying, but I feel much better getting the most recent processor. I have a CD2 processor with Dell and if the new processor is better, then I am willing to wait.

Indeed. I find it hilarious that everyone is freaking out so much about this. Oh noes, Apple didn't release a new MBP line today?! I'm gonna die!!

What's even more amusing is all the people who are desperate to get a new i5 MBP because their C2D isn't good enough anymore. Granted, it's certainly true for some people, but I think for most people it's not a need, it's a want. I do HDV video editing on my PowerBook and it works just fine. Heck, I'd love to have a C2D MBP, I just don't have the money for one. So am I waiting out of necessity? Sure. But that lends a context to this whole thing: do I absolutely NEED a new computer? Almost, but not quite yet. I should get a new one within a year, but I should be fine until then.

This is why I find it amusing that so many people are so desperate for the new upgrade so they can get rid of their outdated piece of junk (or something like that).

On some level, no one needs anything. But who cares? A bunch of us *can afford* to wait, and a bunch of you can't. Furthermore, a bunch of us can afford $2000 for a toy that we want, and some of you can't.

Your post makes little sense. "Afford" to wait? You mean as in time or money? Surely, if you meant money, one doesn't need to "wait" as they could simply buy a top of the line model now and upgrade when the A'dale finally arrives/proves reliable.

I hear what you are saying, but I am buying my son his first macbook for his first year in college. I have some time to get it, but I will definitely not pay money for something that will be outdated as soon as I get it.

I am doing the same thing. I am going to be a freshman in college in august. There's no way I'm going to pay 2200 dollars for an outdated core 2duo machine. Core i7 is going to be much faster and hopefully apple upgrades the baseline ram to 8 gb as well. We have plenty of time before we have to buy. I do believe however that they will release the new mbp before the end of the month!

You do realize that if the 8 month update cycle holds up - and you "need" the MBP in August - you will only be a few weeks off form the next "scheduled" refresh (which would occur in OCT '10 if its 8 mos away).

Your lack of understanding says nothing of my post. Affording something refers to bearing its costs, which could be either time or money (or both).

The rest of your post makes no sense. If one has an excellent computer and $2000 disposable income, one can afford to wait, but not to execute the strategy you've named.

To everyone saying "go buy a macbook now" and blah blah blah requirements for software won't go up, etc etc etc...

That's precisely my reason for waiting! My old MacBook Pro can hold up just fine until the next update :D. Software requirements aren't going to do anything crazy in the very near future so I can hold out just fine until the new architecture comes out.

Please learn how to write in a way people other than yourself can comprehend.

Your first post was an attempt to say how you had the money to wait, an attempt to boast if you will. Well, if $2k's your budget that's nothing to boast about kiddo.

Wouldn't it be great if the new Macbook Pro LCD was touchscreen, like the iPad.

Sounds a bit gimmicky to me. I'm all for a new type of interface, but unless it can convert to a tablet (which obviously won't happen), it's only good for arm fatigue.

Since the iPad announcements, the way laptops integrate with humans are starting to seem archaic.

But the iPad can't run normal computer applications. Adobe suite, etc.
