My problem with USB-C is the other end. Airports, airplanes, hotels, gyms, homes, etc. have installed USB-A power connectors. So now I'll need a dongle to use any of those to charge / use my USB-C device. I know it is "time" but finally the convenience of these ports in places will get replaced with additional dongles. I haven't looked that closely but I'd want a real short C to A dongle and not long cords.
It's taken 10+ years for these ports to appear in public places and it will probably take another 10 to put in USB-C ports.
Most of those "community charging stations" have multiple connections to include lightening and usb-c. The USB -C connection is not loose at all. Where is this coming from?

I'll take lightening over USB C any day of the week. USB C ports in my experience are loose and unreliable.

Its not a tight fit, the connectors flexed in the port on my Dell laptop, ThinkPad, Pixel 2, Samsung S8 and S9.

That’s all a lie .... as some one who has owned a Note 8, Pixel XL, various headphones with usb type C with it

Have multiple USB-C devices and NONE of the ports are even close to being loose.

Pictures? Almost everybody is standardized to USB-A for now. I have yet to see a public charging spot using USB-C, let alone lightning (why would they have a lightning port on their end anyway? I don't see lightning to lightning cables for sale).

That's what some of these threads seem to imply, but maybe I'm wrong...I don't have any devices with usb-c.

In my experience the problem with lighting is less about the actual connector but the construction of the cables, especially with the Apple ones. I have always had two USB-A to lightning cables hanging down from my Mac mini servers to charge my iPhone/iPad and those cables have always frayed and/or split for no reason. The connector and port themselves have always been a solid and very positive fit.

I am all USB-C now across all but my iMac 5K (so that's an MBP, phone and tablet) and don't find it to be a physically better connector. I would for the most part just say its "ok". Definitely more convenient as I can travel with the one brick and 2 cables to do everything. My MBP even charges from a 15W fast phone charger so options are plenty and life is definitely simpler with USB-C.

Both have their positives but Apple needs to do away with the proprietary lightning port sooner rather than later.

USB-C, pointless on the iPhone over lightning. Rumor is Apple will include a lightning to USB-C cable on the upcoming iPhones, so problem is moot.
5G, barely any coverage, carrier locked and specific, useless worldwide, only for the geeks to have an ePxxxx contest.

This is why Apple still include USB-A cable with iPhones. Because in reality, it's a non-issue for the majority of iPhone buyers to have lightning to USB-A. Heck, most people I talk to think USB-C as a Samsung cable. Only the nerds wants it, just because.

I could totally see Apple do that. A solution in form of a dongle. Similar to the Lightning to Headphone Jack one. USB-C to Lightning. Oh man, people that really want USB-C... they would be furious. I wouldn't mind it. Would never use this dongle.

I would not call the usb-c ports "loose" so much as not a firm fit like lightning is.
I didn’t believe all the "loose usb-c" posts until I tried a couple of chargers and different cables.
Now, it’s not like the usb-c connections are going to fall out of their sockets, but They simply slide in or out very easily, as opposed to the lightning ports and cables that seem to fit more firmly together. They almost seem to click when inserted.

In the end, it does not matter what either of us want, as someone is going to make the choice for you!

We don’t need more dongles ....

Usb C doesn’t have any of those issues ... the only people who claim it does are Apple users

BS, I've used all these devices, I work in IT and have been a long time user of both Android and iOS. All the Docks i deploy in the office are USB C and none of the connections are tight.

I call your statement BS .... congrats you work in IT? Doesn’t mean anything. My father works in IT and doesn’t know squat about this stuff or cares for that matter. That’s like saying a fireman is an expert in the field of water.... they use a lot of water but what’s your point ? I have used countless usb type C and none are loose. Only Apple lovers love to say that.

Ok. God, you must be right. I am off surfing as this actually is not that important.

There are so many devices out there that use USB-C... Almost all android phone manufacturers, wireless headphones, some wireless chargers, etc.... This doesn't seem to be an issue for those users. It just seems like when Apple doesn't adopt something people find any and all reasons to justify it.... And I am talking in general here as I don't really care about usb-c vs. lightning.... I rarely ever use a cable for anything any more.

I like USB C but considering I just bought a bunch of lightning cables and products that use it I actually want to keep lightning anyways . The Powerbeats pro has it
I'm just glad they are moving to an already existing standard this time. It was such a hassle when they moved to lightning because it took so long for some accessories to finally come out with a Lightning version.

5G speeds are significantly faster than 4G. 4G speeds were significantly faster than 3G speeds.

You can't argue with the facts.
But they are talking real speeds not theories. I'd love to actually get the max for 4G LTE A ever.

Agree - I have never yet seen a USB-C charging station.

I thought it was just me who had issues with USB-C being loose. We use Dell laptops and docks at work which use USB-C and the cable wiggles about in all of the laptops. We have a GoPro which suffers from the same looseness.

I know. You think i want all the dongles and extra cables? It's just a rumour though. But i could see Apple do this in the not to distant future... just saying.

I could get s new phone whenever ... if they update to USB C it wouldn’t be that bad... just would of liked them to have done it and never done Lightning then

USB type C isn’t “loose” as somebody else stated above it’s not... lightning just has something to help click it in place. Just look at the side of the plug
